A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On the overhead panel 23VU, make sure that the FLT CTL/SEC1 pushbutton switch is pushed (the FAULT and OFF legends are off).
   (3) On the overhead panel 24VU, make sure that the FLT CTL/SEC2 and FLT CTL/SEC3 pushbutton switches are pushed (the FAULT and OFF legends are off).
   (4) On the center pedestal, make sure that the SPEED BRAKE lever is in the RET position.
   (5) Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (6) On the center pedestal, on the ECAM control panel, push the F/CTL pushbutton switch (on the lower ECAM display unit, the F/CTL page comes into view).
   (7) Extend the flaps (lever in the FULL position ) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).

E. Installation of the Tools
   (1) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap and slat control lever.
   (2) Install the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING on each side stick controller.
   (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the CAPT and F/O side stick and on the SPEED BRAKE control lever to tell persons not to touch them.
   (4) Install the 98D27603001000 LOAD APPLICATION TOOL - SPOILER at the trailing edge of the spoiler, at the level of the servocontrol.
   (5) Install the pointer of the 98D27603001000 LOAD APPLICATION TOOL - SPOILER on the trailing edge of the spoiler.
   (6) Install a PLATE - CORNER on the adjacent structure.
   (7) Install a SCALE - GRADUATED on the corner plate.

A. Check of the Spoiler Servo-controls and Hinge Bearings for General Condition
   (1) Do a visual check of the servo control bearings on surface side.
   (2) Do a visual check of the spoiler hinge bearings.

B. Check of the Spoiler Servocontrol Bearing and Hinge Bearings for too Much Play
NOTE: This check is for one surface only.
The same check is applicable to the other surfaces.
   (1) On the 98D27603001000 LOAD APPLICATION TOOL - SPOILER, connect the 97A27003000007 GAGE,ASSY-PUSH-PULL97A27003000005 GAGE,ASSY - PUSH-PULL (or equivalent).
   (2) Apply a force of 30 lbf (13.3447 daN) on the trailing edge, in the up direction.
   (3) Make a mark of the pointer position on the SCALE - GRADUATED.
   (4) Apply a force of 30 lbf (13.3447 daN) on the trailing edge, in the down direction.
   (5) Make a mark of the pointer position on the SCALE - GRADUATED.
   (6) Make sure that the play between the two limit positions is not more than 1.2 mm (0.0472 in.).
   (7) If the measured play is more than the maximum permitted value:
  • Do the inspection/check of the bearings that attach the control surface to the structure, and
  • Do the inspection/check of the servocontrol bearings.
NOTE: The worn or damaged parts that you must replace are identified in the inspection/check AMM tasks applicable to the bearings (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-41-200-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-42-200-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-43-200-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-44-200-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-45-200-001).
     (a) If the defective bearing is a part of a spoiler, send the spoiler to the workshop to replace the bearing.
     (b) If the defective bearing is the servocontrol eye-end-fitting bearing, replace the spoiler servocontrol eye-end (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-51-960-801).
     (c) Install the removed spoiler (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-41-400-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-42-400-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-43-400-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-44-400-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-45-400-001).
     (d) Go to Para. 4.B. to make sure that the measured play is not more than the maximum permitted value.

A. Removal of the Tools
   (1) Remove the GAGE ASSY - PUSH-PULL TOOL 97A27003000007 GAGE,ASSY-PUSH-PULL97A27003000005 GAGE,ASSY - PUSH-PULL, the SCALE - GRADUATED, the plate, the pointer and the 98D27603001000 LOAD APPLICATION TOOL - SPOILER.
   (2) Remove the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING from each side stick and the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap and slat control lever.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Retract the FLAPS (lever in the 0 position) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Depressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (3) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
