4. Procedure
Subtask 27-64-51-020-055-B
A. Preparation for Replacement of the Servo-Control Eye-End
CAUTION: SUPPORT THE SERVO CONTROL 7.5kg (16.5lb) AND THE SPOILER APPROXIMATELY 15kg (33lb). THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO:
  • THE HYDRAULIC LINES
  • THE ELECTRICAL CABLES
  • THE STRUCTURE.
   (1) Disconnect the servo-control (1) from the spoiler attachment bracket: (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-51-000-004)
NOTE: The full removal of the spoiler servo control is not necessary. You must disconnect only the servo-control from the spoiler attachment bracket.
Subtask 27-64-51-960-050-B
B. Replace the Spoiler Servo-Control Eye-End
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove the servo-control eye-end (5):
     (a) Remove the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER from the piston rod (7).
     (b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknut (2).
     (c) Hold the piston rod (7) and loosen the locknut (2).
1 Make sure you do not cause damage to the piston rod (7) when you use the dedicated tool to hold it.
     (d) Hold the piston rod (7) and remove the servo-control eye-end (5).
1 Make sure you do not cause damage to the piston rod (7) when you use the dedicated tool to hold it.
   (2) Install the new servo-control eye-end (5):
     (a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the outer thread of the piston rod (7).
     (b) Make sure that the grease nipple (6) is installed on the new servo-control eye-end (5).
     (c) Install the servo-control eye-end (5) on the piston rod (7) so that the dimension X is between 220.0 mm (8.66 in.) and 223.0 mm (8.78 in.):
NOTE: The dimension X will not let the spoiler trailing edge to damage the flap upper surface during the hydraulic operation of the servo-control before the adjustment of the spoilers.
1 Push the piston rod (7) into the body of the servo-control (1) until it touches the internal limit.
2 Make sure that the serrated washers (3) and (4) are engaged correctly.
3 Turn the servo-control eye-end (5) in the applicable direction.
       4 When the dimension X is correct, hold the piston rod (7) and TORQUE the locknut (2) to between 90 and 80 m.N (66.37 and 59.00 lbf.ft ) T.
a Make sure you do not cause damage to the piston rod (7) when you use the dedicated tool to hold it.
NOTE: Manual extension of the piston-rod (7) is permitted to get access to the tool footprint on the piston rod (7) during the locknut (2) tightening. The dimension X must be checked while the piston rod (7) touches the internal limit of the servo-control (1).
     (d) Safety the locknut (2) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (3) Turn the servo-control eye-end (5) and the piston rod (7) together so that the grease nipple (6) points down.
   (4) Install the
98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER on the piston rod of the applicable servo-control.
   (5) Connect the servo-control (1) on the spoiler attachment bracket (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-51-400-004).
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD ON THE KEY SPOILER MAINTENANCE TOOL WHEN YOU SET THE SERVOCONTROL TO OPERATIONAL MODE OR MAINTENANCE MODE. IF YOU APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TOOL AND/OR TO THE SERVOCONTROL.
   (6) On the applicable spoiler servo-control, turn the pointer of the maintenance device to the O position.
   (7) Do the adjustment of the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-00-820-001).
