WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable zone 575(675).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
Subtask 57-51-37-420-054-A
A. Preparation for the Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Do a check of the red marks on the access panels (2), (4), (6), (8), (10), (12), (14) and (16).
   (5) Make sure that the red marks are in the correct condition.
     (a) If necessary, apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) on the access panels (2), (4), (6), (8), (10), (12), (14) and/or (16).
   (6) If one or more of the access panel seal(s) is(are) damaged, replace it(them) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-960-001).

B. Installation of the Access Panels
   (1) Install the access panel 575AB(675AB) (4) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (4) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (3).
     (b) Set the access panel (4) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Y is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel inboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel outboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (4) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (3).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (4) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (2) Install the access panel 575BB(675BB) (2) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (2) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (1).
     (b) Set the access panel (2) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel inboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (2) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (1).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (2) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (3) Install the access panel 575CB(675CB) (12) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (12) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (11).
     (b) Set the access panel (12) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel outboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (12) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (11).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (12) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (4) Install the access panel 575DB(675DB) (10) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (10) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (9).
     (b) Set the access panel (10) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along each full width of the panel. Try and set the two clearances as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (10) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (9).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (10) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (5) Install the access panel 575EB(675EB) (8) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (8) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (7).
     (b) Set the access panel (8) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along each full width of the panel. Try and set the two clearances as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (8) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (7).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (8) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (6) Install the access panel 575FB(675FB) (6) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (6) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (5).
     (b) Set the access panel (6) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel inboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (6) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (5).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (6) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (7) Install the access panel 575GB(675GB) (16) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (16) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (15).
     (b) Set the access panel (16) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel outboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (16) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (15).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (16) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (8) Install the access panel 575HB(675HB) (14) as follows:
     (a) Put the access panel (14) in position and attach it with two of the outer camloc fasteners (13).
     (b) Set the access panel (14) so that:
  • dimension X is between 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) and 4.3 mm (0.1693 in.) along the full length of the panel. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.).
  • dimension Z is between 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.) and 6.0 mm (0.2362 in.) along the full width of the panel inboard end. Try and set the clearance as near as possible to 4.0 mm (0.1575 in.).
     (c) Attach the access panel (14) to the wing with the remaining camloc fasteners (13).
     (d) Fill the clearance between the access panel (14) and the trailing edge of the wing skin with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
5. Close-up
Subtask 57-51-37-410-053-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002) from the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Fully retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
