3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps/slats.
   (2) Make sure that the flaps/slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (3) Put the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 573(673) or 575(675).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-51-37-960-051-A
A. Replacement of the seal on the access panels inboard of STA11664/RIB 22
   (1) To remove the seal (3), do the steps that follow:
     (a) Remove the nuts (1), the washers (2) and the bolts (4).
NOTE: The bolts can be removed through the larger access holes in the seal (3).
     (b) Remove the seal (3) from the panel (6).
     (c) Remove the support channel (5) from the seal (3).
     (d) Discard the seal (3).
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
   (4) Get a new seal for the applicable panel:

   (5) Put the support channel (5) in position in the new seal (3). Make sure that the holes in the support channel (5) are in-line with the smaller attachment holes in the seal (3).
   (6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.
06ABA1) to the shank and below the heads of the bolts (4).
   (7) Install the bolts (4) through:
  • the larger access holes in the seal (3)
  • the support channel (5)
  • the attachment holes in the seal (3)
  • the panel (6).
   (8) Install the washers (2) and the nuts (1).
   (9) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 0.15 and 0.11 m.daN (13.27 and 9.73 lbf.in ) T.
NOTE: To prevent possible damage of the seal (3), do not tighten the nuts (1) more than the specified torque value.

B. Replacement of the Seal on the Access Panels Outboard of STA11664/RIB 22
   (1) To remove the seal (19), do the steps that follow:
     (a) Remove the bolts (17).
     (b) Remove the support channel (16) from the seal (19) and remove the seal from the access panel (18).
     (c) Discard the seal (19).
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed components are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
   (4) Get a new seal for the applicable panel:
     (a) FOR 575KB AIPC 57-51-37-19-060 SEAL (19).
     (b) FOR
675KB AIPC 57-51-37-19-070 SEAL (19).
     (c) FOR
575LB AIPC 57-51-37-20-050 SEAL (19).
     (d) FOR
675LB AIPC 57-51-37-20-060 SEAL (19).
     (e) FOR
575MB AIPC 57-51-37-21-050 SEAL (19).
     (f) FOR
675MB AIPC 57-51-37-21-060 SEAL (19).
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.
06ABA1) to the shank and below the heads of the bolts (17).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SEAL IS INSTALLED IN THE CORRECT POSITION. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE SEAL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AILERON.
   (6) Put the new seal (19) and the support channel (16) in position on the access panel (18).
     (a) When you install the support channel (16), make sure that the edge with kinks is in the direction of the new seal (19).
NOTE: There will be a clamping effect after you install the access panel.
   (7) Install the bolts (17) through the access panel (18) and the seal (19) into the anchor nuts on the support channel (16). Do not tighten the bolts (17).
   (8) Make sure that the width of the seal (19) (dimension X) is 18 mm (0.7087 in.) + 0.0 mm (0.0000 in.) - 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) along the length of the access panel (18).
   (9) TORQUE tighten the bolts (17) to between 0.13 and 0.11 m.daN (11.50 and 9.73 lbf.in ) T.
NOTE: To prevent possible damage of the seal (19), do not tighten the bolts (17) more than the specified torque value.

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002) from the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Remove the warning notices.
