B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) On the slat/flap control lever, make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is in position.
   (3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic system and hydraulic reservoir are depressurized:

   (8) Make sure that the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is below the hydraulic unions of the applicable spoiler servo control.
   (9) Put the 98D27603002000 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE or the 98D27603002001 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE into the maintenance device of the applicable spoiler servo control.
   (10) Turn the maintenance device of the spoiler servo control to the 'M' position.

A. Preparation for a Replacement Component
   (1) Push the piston rod into the body of the spoiler servo control until it touches the internal limit.
   (2) Measure dimension X.
NOTE: Dimension X must be between 220 mm (8.66 in.) and 223 mm (8.78 in.).
   (3) Adjust the piston rod to get dimension X:
     (a) Remove the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknut (72).
     (b) Loosen the locknut (72).
     (c) Turn the eye-end (63) in the applicable direction.
     (d) Make sure that the serrated washers (62) and (71) are engaged correctly.
   (4) When dimension X is correct, TORQUE the locknut (72) to between 9.0 and 8.0 m.daN (66.37 and 59.00 lbf.ft ) T.
   (5) Safety the locknut (72):
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Safety the locknut (72) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.

B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (5) Extend, by hand, the piston rod of the spoiler servo control.
   (6) Install the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER on the piston rod of the spoiler servo control.

C. Installation of the Spoiler Servo Control
CAUTION: SUPPORT THE SERVO CONTROL 7.5kg (16.5lb) AND THE SPOILER APPROXIMATELY 15kg (33lb). THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO:
  • THE HYDRAULIC LINES
  • THE ELECTRICAL CABLES
  • THE STRUCTURE.
   (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interface of the spoiler servo control and to the heads of the bolts (61).
   (2) Remove the applicable spoiler support strut 98D27604002000 STRUT SUPPORT - SPOILER 1 or 98D27604001000 STRUT SUPPORT - SPOILER 2, 3, 4, AND 5.
   (3) Install the spoiler servo control.
   (4) Make sure that the location dowels engage correctly.
   (5) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (6) Connect the applicable hydraulic unions to the spoiler servo-control (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-11-917-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-12-911-001):
     (a) FOR [31CE1] (SERVO CTL-SPLR1, L G), [31CE2] (SERVO CTL-SPLR1, R G)
the pipe (3) and the unions (1), (2) and (4)
     (b) FOR [31CE3] (SERVO CTL-SPLR2, L Y)
the pipes (22) and (26) and the unions (23), (24), (25) and (27)
     (c) FOR [31CE4] (SERVO CTL-SPLR2, R Y)
the pipes (6) and (9) and the unions (5), (7), (8) and (10)
     (d) FOR [31CE5] (SERVO CTL-SPLR3, L B)
the pipe (19) and the unions (17), (18), (21) and (22)
     (e) FOR [31CE6] (SERVO CTL-SPLR3, R B)
the pipe (14) and the unions (11), (12), (13), (15) and (16)
     (f) FOR [31CE7] (SERVO CTL-SPLR4, L Y)
the unions (30) and (31)
     (g) FOR [31CE8] (SERVO CTL-SPLR4, R Y)

the pipe (35), the connector (39) and the unions (34), (36), (37), (38) and (40)

   (7) Install the washers (60) and the bolts (61).
   (8) TORQUE the bolts (61) to between 3.26 and 2.95 m.daN (24.04 and 21.76 lbf.ft ) T.
   (9) If applicable, turn the eye-end (63) and the piston rod together so that the greaser points down.
   (10) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) to:
  • The flanged bush (64)
  • The special bolt (65)
  • The sliding bush (66)
  • The spoiler attachment bracket.
   (11) Install the flanged bush (64) and the sliding bush (66) in the spoiler attachment bracket.
   (12) Put the eye-end (63) in position in the spoiler attachment bracket and install the special bolt (65).
   (13) Make sure that the special bolt (65) engages correctly with the projection on the spoiler attachment bracket.
   (14) Measure dimension Z.
NOTE: The dimension Z must not be more than 0.70 mm (0.03 in.).
   (15) Install the washer (67) and the nut (68) on the special bolt (65), but do not tighten.
   (16) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (17) Install the electrical connector (73).
   (18) Clean the electrical connector (73) with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (19) Apply a continuous layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) to the electrical connector (73).
   (20) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (21) Remove the access platform(s).

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the correct zone:

   (4) Measure the distance between the applicable spoiler and the flap (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-00-820-001).
   (5) When the clearance is correct:
     (a) TORQUE the nut (68) to between 6.5 and 5.2 m.daN (47.94 and 38.35 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Install the locking cap (69) on the nut (68).
     (c) Safety the locking cap (69) with:

98D27603002000 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE or the 98D27603002001 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE in the maintenance device to the 'O' position and then remove it.
   (7) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to:
  • The washers (60), bolts (61) and special bolt (65)
  • The washer (67), nut (68), locking cap (69) and cotter pin (70)
  • The bolt of the maintenance device.
   (8) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (9) Remove the access platform(s).

G. Test
   (1) Do a minimum of ten full travel operations of the spoilers, to bleed all the air from the spoiler servo controls (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-00-710-001).
   (2) Do the operational test of the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-64-00-710-001).
   (3) Examine the spoiler servo control for hydraulic leaks.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
