Installation of the Oil Control Module
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL, OIL OR HYDRAULIC FLUID SPILL ON THE ENGINE. YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY REMOVE UNWANTED FUEL, OIL OR HYDRAULIC FLUID WITH A CLOTH. FUEL, OIL OR HYDRAULIC FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO SOME ENGINE PARTS.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the left thrust-reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 79-21-02-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Oil Control Module
(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Install the oil control module (1) on the Main Gear Box (MGB) as follows:
(a) Examine the face seal (8) and the face seal (5) to find if you can use them again by the procedure that follows:
1 Make sure that there is no raised material on the metal surface.
2 Make sure that the rubber is bonded to the seal plate.
3 Make sure that no rubber is missing.
4 Make sure that the rubber seal is not separated from the seal plate.
5 Make sure that the rubber is not cut or damaged.
6 Make sure that the rubber material is above the metal surface.
(b) Align and install the EIPC 79-21-02-01-050 FACE SEAL (8) on the two alignment pins on the MGB.
(c) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the six bolts (3).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Align the oil control module (1) with the two alignment pins and install the oil control module (1) with the six washers (2) and the six bolts (3).
1 Tighten the six bolts (3) with your fingers.
(e) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the six bolts (6).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(f) Attach the two brackets, the tube plate, the bracket (7) and the EIPC 79-21-02-01-060 FACE SEAL (5) to the oil control module (1) with the six bolts (6).
1 Tighten the six bolts (6) with your fingers.
(g) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the bolt (4).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(h) Attach the clamp of the tube (LP33) to the oil control module (1) with the bolt (4).
1 Tighten the bolt (4) with your fingers.
(i) TORQUE the six bolts (3) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds.
(j) TORQUE the six bolts (6) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds.
(k) TORQUE the bolt (4) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
.
(3) Install the tube (LB35) (18) and the brackets (19), (21) and (22) on the oil control module (1) and the MGB as follows:
(a) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the six bolts (20) and the bolt (6).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Attach the bracket (21) to the oil control module (1) with the two bolts (20).
(c) TORQUE the two bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
.
(d) Attach the bracket (22) to the oil control module (1) with the two bolts (20).
(e) TORQUE the two bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
.
(f) Attach the bracket (19) to the oil control module (1) and the MGB with the bolt (6) and the two bolts (20).
(g) TORQUE the bolt (6) and the two bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
.
(i) TORQUE the B-nut of the tube (LB35) (18) to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
.
(4) Connect the tube (LP40) to the oil control module (1).
(5) TORQUE the B-nut of the tube (LP40) to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )
.
(6) Install the tube (LP50) (37) on the oil control module (1) and the oil manifold (LU30) as follows:
(a) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the six bolts (35).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the tube (LP50) (37) and the two EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) with the six bolts (35).
1 Tighten the six bolts (35) with your fingers.
(c) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the bolt (36).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Install the bolt (36) on the clamp (38) and the bracket.
1 Tighten the bolt (36) with your fingers.
(e) TORQUE the six bolts (35) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds.
(f) TORQUE the bolt (36) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
.
(7) Install the tube (LP52) (34) on the oil control module (1) and the oil manifold (LU30) as follows:
(a) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the six bolts (35).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the tube (LP52) (34) and the EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) on the oil control module (1) with the three bolts (35).
1 Tighten the three bolts (35) with your fingers.
(c) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the bolts (36).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Install the tube (LB64) and the clamp on the bracket (48) with the bolt (36).
1 Tighten the bolt (36) with your fingers.
(e) TORQUE the six bolts (35) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds.
(f) TORQUE the bolt (36) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )

(g) Install the tube (LP52) (34), EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) and bracket (48) on the oil manifold (LU30) with the three bolts (35).
1 Tighten the three bolts (35) with your fingers.
(8) Install the tube (LP57) (32) on the oil control module (1) and the Air/Oil Heat Exchanger (AOHX) as follows:
(a) Apply theP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize on the threads of the three bolts (35) and (59).
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the tube (LP57) (32), EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) and bracket (58) on the AOHX with the three bolts (59).
1 Tighten the three bolts (59) with your fingers.
(c) Install the tube (LP57) (32) and the EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) on the oil control module (1) with the three bolts (35).
1 Tighten the three bolts (35) with your fingers.
(d) TORQUE the three bolts (35) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds.
(e) TORQUE the three bolts (59) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds.
(f) Install the (WC10) wiring harness (4011KS) and the (WC11) wiring harness (4072KS) on the tube (LP57) (32) and the spring clips of the bracket (58).
(9) Install the fuel/oil heat-exchanger bypass-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-09-400-801).
(10) Install the Low Oil Pressure (LOP) switch (Ref. AMM TASK 79-33-25-400-801).
(11) Install the main oil pressure-sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-33-21-400-801).
(12) Install the active oil damper-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-07-400-801).
(13) Install the main oil temperature-probe (Ref. AMM TASK 79-32-21-400-801).
(14) Fill the engine with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-801).
(15) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(16) Installation of the protection covers:
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.(2) Install the oil control module (1) on the Main Gear Box (MGB) as follows:
(a) Examine the face seal (8) and the face seal (5) to find if you can use them again by the procedure that follows:
1 Make sure that there is no raised material on the metal surface.
2 Make sure that the rubber is bonded to the seal plate.
3 Make sure that no rubber is missing.
4 Make sure that the rubber seal is not separated from the seal plate.
5 Make sure that the rubber is not cut or damaged.
6 Make sure that the rubber material is above the metal surface.
(b) Align and install the EIPC 79-21-02-01-050 FACE SEAL (8) on the two alignment pins on the MGB.
(c) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Align the oil control module (1) with the two alignment pins and install the oil control module (1) with the six washers (2) and the six bolts (3).
1 Tighten the six bolts (3) with your fingers.
(e) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(f) Attach the two brackets, the tube plate, the bracket (7) and the EIPC 79-21-02-01-060 FACE SEAL (5) to the oil control module (1) with the six bolts (6).
1 Tighten the six bolts (6) with your fingers.
(g) Apply the

(h) Attach the clamp of the tube (LP33) to the oil control module (1) with the bolt (4).
1 Tighten the bolt (4) with your fingers.
(i) TORQUE the six bolts (3) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds. (j) TORQUE the six bolts (6) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds. (k) TORQUE the bolt (4) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
. (3) Install the tube (LB35) (18) and the brackets (19), (21) and (22) on the oil control module (1) and the MGB as follows:
(a) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Attach the bracket (21) to the oil control module (1) with the two bolts (20).
(c) TORQUE the two bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
. (d) Attach the bracket (22) to the oil control module (1) with the two bolts (20).
(e) TORQUE the two bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
. (f) Attach the bracket (19) to the oil control module (1) and the MGB with the bolt (6) and the two bolts (20).
(g) TORQUE the bolt (6) and the two bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
. CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
(h) Connect the one end of the tube (LB35) (18) to the oil control module (1).(i) TORQUE the B-nut of the tube (LB35) (18) to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
.(4) Connect the tube (LP40) to the oil control module (1).
(5) TORQUE the B-nut of the tube (LP40) to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )
. (6) Install the tube (LP50) (37) on the oil control module (1) and the oil manifold (LU30) as follows:
(a) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the tube (LP50) (37) and the two EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) with the six bolts (35).
1 Tighten the six bolts (35) with your fingers.
(c) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Install the bolt (36) on the clamp (38) and the bracket.
1 Tighten the bolt (36) with your fingers.
(e) TORQUE the six bolts (35) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds. (f) TORQUE the bolt (36) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
. (7) Install the tube (LP52) (34) on the oil control module (1) and the oil manifold (LU30) as follows:
(a) Apply the

(b) Install the tube (LP52) (34) and the EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) on the oil control module (1) with the three bolts (35).
1 Tighten the three bolts (35) with your fingers.
(c) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Install the tube (LB64) and the clamp on the bracket (48) with the bolt (36).
1 Tighten the bolt (36) with your fingers.
(e) TORQUE the six bolts (35) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds. (f) TORQUE the bolt (36) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
. (g) Install the tube (LP52) (34), EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) and bracket (48) on the oil manifold (LU30) with the three bolts (35).
1 Tighten the three bolts (35) with your fingers.
(8) Install the tube (LP57) (32) on the oil control module (1) and the Air/Oil Heat Exchanger (AOHX) as follows:
(a) Apply the
1 For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the tube (LP57) (32), EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) and bracket (58) on the AOHX with the three bolts (59).
1 Tighten the three bolts (59) with your fingers.
(c) Install the tube (LP57) (32) and the EIPC 79-21-02-01-070 FACE SEALS (33) on the oil control module (1) with the three bolts (35).
1 Tighten the three bolts (35) with your fingers.
(d) TORQUE the three bolts (35) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds. (e) TORQUE the three bolts (59) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
in small increments until the same torque indication holds. (f) Install the (WC10) wiring harness (4011KS) and the (WC11) wiring harness (4072KS) on the tube (LP57) (32) and the spring clips of the bracket (58).
(9) Install the fuel/oil heat-exchanger bypass-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-09-400-801).
(10) Install the Low Oil Pressure (LOP) switch (Ref. AMM TASK 79-33-25-400-801).
(11) Install the main oil pressure-sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-33-21-400-801).
(12) Install the active oil damper-valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-07-400-801).
(13) Install the main oil temperature-probe (Ref. AMM TASK 79-32-21-400-801).
(14) Fill the engine with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-801).
(15) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(16) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
INSTALL THE PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL OF THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the left thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):

(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
