WARNING:

A. Safety Precautions

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put a STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) in position.
(2) Open the oil tank access-door(s) at approximately the 9 o'clock position:

4. Procedure(1) Put a STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) in position.
(2) Open the oil tank access-door(s) at approximately the 9 o'clock position:

CAUTION:
YOU MUST ONLY USE ENGINE OILS SPECIFIED IN SERVICE BULLETIN PW1000G-D-79-00-0002-00A-930A-D. THE MIXING OF DIFFERENT BRANDS OF APPROVED OILS IS NOT RECOMMENDED BUT IS PERMITTED WITHIN THE LIMITS SPECIFIED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THE USE OF UNAPPROVED TYPES OR BRANDS OF OILS IS NOT PERMITTED AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY REMOVE UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL WITH A CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO SOME ENGINE PARTS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH OIL IN THE ENGINE OIL SYSTEM. DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE WITH TOO MUCH OIL. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION:
DO NOT ADD OIL AFTER MOTORING OR AFTER LOW POWER OPERATION IN EXTREMELY COLD ENVIRONMENTS (-34 °F (-37 °C) OR BELOW). THERE CAN BE UP TO A 3.5 QUART (3.3 LITER) REDUCTION (GULP) IN THE STATIC OIL LEVEL UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. DO THE OIL LEVEL CHECK AFTER THE ENGINE IS OPERATED AT TEMPERATURE AS SPECIFIED IN THE SERVICING TASK. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN OVER SERVICE THE ENGINE OIL SYSTEM.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 79-00-00-200-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Check the engine oil level
(3) If the engine has been shutdown between one and ten hours. Refer to Step 4.B.(2).
(4) If the engine has been shutdown more than ten hours. Refer to Step 4.B.(3).
(5) Oil servicing is not required prior to departure if the engine was serviced on arrival and the pre-departure walk around checks confirm no oil pools or drips from the drain mast or overboard breather.
Subtask 79-00-00-612-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT ADD OIL AFTER YOU RUN THE ENGINE FOR TEN MINUTES OR LESS. THE OIL WILL NOT BE HOT ENOUGH AND THE OIL QUANTITY SHOWN WILL BE LOW, WHICH CAN CAUSE OVERSERVICING IF YOU ADD OIL.
(1) Check the engine oil level as follows: NOTE: The illustration of Oil Quantity Graph
should only be used as a reference. The engine must be serviced as specified in this task.
(2) The oil level should be checked and oil added, if necessary within a period of five minutes to 60 minutes after engine shutdown. Refer to Step 4.B.(1). should only be used as a reference. The engine must be serviced as specified in this task.
(3) If the engine has been shutdown between one and ten hours. Refer to Step 4.B.(2).
(4) If the engine has been shutdown more than ten hours. Refer to Step 4.B.(3).
(5) Oil servicing is not required prior to departure if the engine was serviced on arrival and the pre-departure walk around checks confirm no oil pools or drips from the drain mast or overboard breather.
B. Fill the Engine with Oil
1 Find the engine oil tank on the left side of the engine attached to the fan case at approximately the 9 o'clock position.
2 Use a FLASHLIGHT and find the engine oil level sight glass on the oil tank.
3 Wipe the sight glass with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
4 If the oil level in the sight glass is at or above the "-1" mark, do not add oil and continue to Step 4.B.(5)(d) finish the procedure.
(b) Open the oil tank cap.
1 Wait five minutes after engine shutdown.
2 Drape a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) over the edge of the fan cowl access window.
3 Lift the lever on the oil tank cap and turn the cap counterclockwise.
4 Lift and remove the oil tank cap.
5 Put the oil tank cap over the edge of the fan cowl access window onto the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
(e) Add the correctP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) into the filler neck until no more oil can be added without overflow into the scupper drain.
(2) Fill the engine withP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) - one hour to ten hours after engine shutdown.
(b) If oil level is above "+1" on the sight glass continue to Step 4.B.(4)(b) for engine overservicing.
(c) If the oil level is at or above the "-3" mark then do not add oil and continue to Step 4.B.(5)(d) to finish the procedure.
(d) If the oil level is below the "-3" mark add oil until the oil is at or above the "-3" mark.
(3) Fill the engine withP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) - More than ten hours after engine shutdown.
(a) Dry-motor the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-817).
(b) Examine the oil level using cockpit indication.
(c) If the oil level is more than 20 quarts (18.9 l), continue to Step 4.B.(4) (b) for engine over servicing.
(d) If the oil level is between 16 quarts (15.1 l) and 20 quarts (18.9 l), continue to Step 4.B.(3)(f).
(e) If the oil level is less than 16 quarts (15.1 l):
1 Add oil to "-3" mark on the sight glass. Refer to Step 4.B.(1)(b) through 4.B.(1)(f).
2 Install the oil tank cap. Refer to Step 4.B.(5)(a) through 4.B.(5)(d).
(f) Start the engine and run at ground idle until operating temperature (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
(g) Shut down engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-814).
(h) Continue to Step 4.B.(1)(a) to examine oil level with the sight glass and add oil (if necessary).
(4) Overservicing
(a) In the case of overservicing, remove excess oil from the engine as follows:
(b) Drain the Main Gearbox (MGB) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-680-801).
a Drape a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) over the edge of the fan cowl access window.
b Lift the lever on the oil tank cap and turn the cap counterclockwise.
c Lift and remove the oil tank cap.
d Put the oil tank cap over the edge of the fan cowl access window onto the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
3 Install the oil tank cap refer to Step 4.B.(5)(a) through Step 4.B.(5)(d).
(c) Continue to Step 4.B.(3) in 10 minutes after engine shutdown to do an oil level check and add oil if necessary..
(5) Finish Procedure
1 Use a FLASHLIGHT and make sure that the oil tank flapper valve (inside the fill neck) is closed and not damaged.
2 Inspect the filler cap O-ring. Replace if damaged.
3 Align the cap to the filler neck and then push down into place.
4 Rotate the lever clockwise and then push down to lock.
5 Make sure the lever is down against the cap.
(b) Record the amount of engine oil added.
(c) Wipe clean the area with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
(d) Make sure that the oil tank cap is closed and the lever is in the down (locked) position.
(e) Close the oil tank access door on the engine left side cowl door.
(6) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO MOTOR THE ENGINE BETWEEN 5 MINUTES AND 1 HOUR AFTER THE LAST ENGINE SHUTDOWN, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY THE APPLICABLE PROCEDURE TO DO THE CHECK OF THE OIL LEVEL (REFER TO THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN THE STEPS BELOW). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE APPLICABLE PROCEDURE, THE CHECK RESULTS WILL NOT BE CORRECT AND DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR AT THE NEXT MOTORING.
(1) Fill the engine with oil within a period of five minutes to 60 minutes after engine shutdown. NOTE: It is recommended to check the oil level and fill the engine with oil between five and 60 minutes after engine shutdown. The oil level sight glass is most accurate during this time interval.
(a) Examine the engine oil level with the sight glass and add oil (if necessary). 1 Find the engine oil tank on the left side of the engine attached to the fan case at approximately the 9 o'clock position.
2 Use a FLASHLIGHT and find the engine oil level sight glass on the oil tank.
3 Wipe the sight glass with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
4 If the oil level in the sight glass is at or above the "-1" mark, do not add oil and continue to Step 4.B.(5)(d) finish the procedure.
NOTE: Oil level may be above the sight glass level due to thermal expansion. No action is required for this condition under 60 minutes since engine shutdown.
NOTE: If you suspect over servicing check the oil level again after approximately one hour. The oil level should be visible on the sight glass by this time. If it is not, proceed to Step 4.B.(4)(b).
5 If the oil level in the sight glass is below the "-1" mark, then proceed to Step 4.B.(1)(b) to add oil. (b) Open the oil tank cap.
1 Wait five minutes after engine shutdown.
2 Drape a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) over the edge of the fan cowl access window.
3 Lift the lever on the oil tank cap and turn the cap counterclockwise.
4 Lift and remove the oil tank cap.
5 Put the oil tank cap over the edge of the fan cowl access window onto the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
NOTE: Make sure that the cloth is adjusted such that the cap does not touch the outside of the fan cowl to prevent scratches and oil drip stains.
(c) Put the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the end of the scupper drain line under the engine. NOTE: This is to catch any overflow during oil filling.
(d) Opening of the flapper valve WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU OPEN THE FLAPPER VALVE. OIL CAN SPRAY OUT WHEN THE VALVE IS FIRST OPENED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, HOT OIL CAN BURN YOUR EYES AND SKIN.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE A SCREWDRIVER TO OPEN THE FLAPPER VALVE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE FLAPPER VALVE CAN OCCUR.
1 If necessary, insert the SCREWDRIVER - SMALL through one of the 0.25 in. (6.35 mm) holes in the oil tank inlet screens and open the oil tank flapper valve. (e) Add the correct
NOTE: The stable oil level in the sight glass will now be in the "FULL" mark range.
NOTE: If only a small amount of oil was added prior to oil overflow into the scupper drain, then check to make sure the flapper valve opened.
NOTE: If the aircraft is not parked level, the oil level indication in the sight glass is affected and may be above the full mark. This is acceptable. The oil system is serviced correctly if no more oil can be added without overflow into the scupper drain.
(f) Continue to Step 4.B.(5) to finish the procedure. (2) Fill the engine with
CAUTION:
WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO MOTOR THE ENGINE BETWEEN 1 HOUR AND 10 HOURS AFTER THE LAST ENGINE SHUTDOWN, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY THE APPLICABLE PROCEDURE TO DO THE CHECK OF THE OIL LEVEL (REFER TO THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN THE STEPS BELOW). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE APPLICABLE PROCEDURE, THE CHECK RESULTS WILL NOT BE CORRECT AND DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUR AT THE NEXT MOTORING.
(a) Examine the oil level indication in the sight glass. Refer to Steps 4.B.(1)(a)1_ through 4.B.(1)(a)3_. (b) If oil level is above "+1" on the sight glass continue to Step 4.B.(4)(b) for engine overservicing.
(c) If the oil level is at or above the "-3" mark then do not add oil and continue to Step 4.B.(5)(d) to finish the procedure.
(d) If the oil level is below the "-3" mark add oil until the oil is at or above the "-3" mark.
NOTE: Do not add more than three quarts.
(e) If the oil level is not at or above the "-3" mark after adding three quarts of oil continue to Step 4.B.(3) without waiting more than ten hours after engine shutdown to check the oil level.(3) Fill the engine with
(a) Dry-motor the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-817).
(b) Examine the oil level using cockpit indication.
(c) If the oil level is more than 20 quarts (18.9 l), continue to Step 4.B.(4) (b) for engine over servicing.
(d) If the oil level is between 16 quarts (15.1 l) and 20 quarts (18.9 l), continue to Step 4.B.(3)(f).
(e) If the oil level is less than 16 quarts (15.1 l):
1 Add oil to "-3" mark on the sight glass. Refer to Step 4.B.(1)(b) through 4.B.(1)(f).
2 Install the oil tank cap. Refer to Step 4.B.(5)(a) through 4.B.(5)(d).
(f) Start the engine and run at ground idle until operating temperature (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
(g) Shut down engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-814).
(h) Continue to Step 4.B.(1)(a) to examine oil level with the sight glass and add oil (if necessary).
(4) Overservicing
(a) In the case of overservicing, remove excess oil from the engine as follows:
(b) Drain the Main Gearbox (MGB) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-680-801).
NOTE: Under normal circumstances, approximately 1 - 2 quarts (0.95 - 1.90 l) 0f oil should drain from the MGB. More oil may drain out if the engine is over serviced.
1 As an alternate method to drain oil, you can drain oil from the oil tank as follows: a Drape a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) over the edge of the fan cowl access window.
b Lift the lever on the oil tank cap and turn the cap counterclockwise.
c Lift and remove the oil tank cap.
d Put the oil tank cap over the edge of the fan cowl access window onto the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
NOTE: Make sure that the cloth is adjusted such that the cap does not touch the outside of the fan cowl to prevent scratches and oil drip stains.
2 Use a clean BOTTLE - SQUEEZE with an angled nozzle or similar tool to syphon out oil from the oil tank until the oil level is visible on the sight glass. 3 Install the oil tank cap refer to Step 4.B.(5)(a) through Step 4.B.(5)(d).
(c) Continue to Step 4.B.(3) in 10 minutes after engine shutdown to do an oil level check and add oil if necessary..
(5) Finish Procedure
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU CLOSE THE OIL TANK CAP COMPLETELY. MAKE SURE THAT THE OIL TANK CAP LEVER IS DOWN AND LOCKED. IF YOU DO NOT, OIL CAN COME OUT OF THE TANK AND AN IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN CAN OCCUR.
(a) Install the oil tank cap. See the sheet 2 of the figure: 1 Use a FLASHLIGHT and make sure that the oil tank flapper valve (inside the fill neck) is closed and not damaged.
2 Inspect the filler cap O-ring. Replace if damaged.
3 Align the cap to the filler neck and then push down into place.
4 Rotate the lever clockwise and then push down to lock.
5 Make sure the lever is down against the cap.
(b) Record the amount of engine oil added.
(c) Wipe clean the area with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) .
(d) Make sure that the oil tank cap is closed and the lever is in the down (locked) position.
(e) Close the oil tank access door on the engine left side cowl door.
(6) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Make sure that the oil tank cap is closed and the lever is in the down (locked) position.
(3) Close this(these) access door(s):
