WARNING: WEAR APPLICABLE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK. BEFORE YOU USE PPE, READ, UNDERSTAND AND OBEY ALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ITS USE. THESE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER, YOUR EMPLOYER AND GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS. YOU CAN GET INJURED IF YOU DO NOT USE PPE.    (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL 462AR.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-079-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Visually examine the bullnose pressure seals and the IFS-to-bullnose seals of the thrust reverser.
   (1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
   (2) Extension of the thrust reverser translating sleeves.
CAUTION: DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES OPEN. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Manually deploy the thrust reverser translating sleeves to approximately 13 in. (330.2 mm) to gain access (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802).
   (3) Examine the bullnose pressure seals of the left and right translating sleeve.
     (a) Look for missing segments, cracks, gouges and holes.
     (b) If you find damage, replace the pressure seals (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-803), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-400-803), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-400-803) or contact UTAS for disposition.
   (4) Examine the upper and lower IFS-to-bullnose seals of the left and right IFS.
     (a) Look for missing segments, cracks, gouges and holes.
     (b) If you find damage, replace the pressure seals (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-803), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-400-803), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-400-803) or contact UTAS for disposition.
   (5) Examine the nuts that attach the IFS-to-bullnose seals to the inner fixed structure of the left and right thrust reverser.
     (a) Look for corrosion, wear, cracks, gouges and missing hardware.
     (b) If you find damage, replace the hardware (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-803), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-400-803), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-400-803).
   (6) Manually retract the thrust reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).

B. Visually examine the pressure seals of the thrust reverser.
   (1) Open the thrust reversers (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802).
   (2) Examine the pressure seals of the left and right thrust reverser.
     (a) Look for missing segments, cracks, gouges and holes.
     (b) If you find damage, replace the pressure seals (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-802), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-400-802), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-400-802) or contact UTAS for disposition.
   (3) Examine the nuts and bolts that attach the pressure seals to inner fixed structure of the left and right thrust reverser.
     (a) Look for corrosion, wear, cracks, gouges and missing hardware.
     (b) If you find damage, replace the hardware (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-000-802), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-42-400-802), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-72-400-802).

C. Visually examine the fire seals and the vapor barrier seals (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-210-807).
