C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser system are deactivated for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the right thrust reverser translating sleeve is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-72-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Right Thrust Reverser Bullnose Seals
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Install the lower bullnose seal (3).
     (a) Lightly rub the mating surface of seal retainer under the lower bullnose seal (3) with PU1-0003abrasive paper, 220-Grit.
     (b) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the lower seal cap and the lower bullnose seal (3). Use PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl on a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
     (c) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the lower seal cap and the lower bullnose seal (3) with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surface of the lower bullnose seal (3) and the seal retainer to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
     (e) Install the lower bullnose seal (3) in the lower seal cap and the seal retainer.
NOTE: If necessary, trim the female side of the bullnose seal up to 0.1 in. (2.54 mm) to achieve a gap of 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) to 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) between the adjacent seals.
     (f) Let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: After six hours, the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) will be in the tack-free condition.
   (2) Install the standard bullnose seal (2).
     (a) Lightly rub the mating surfaces of seal retainers under the three standard bullnose seals (2) with PU1-0003abrasive paper, 220-Grit.
     (b) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the three standard bullnose seals (2). Use PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl on a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
     (c) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the three standard bullnose seals (2) with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surfaces of the three standard bullnose seals (2) and the seal retainers to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
     (e) Install the three standard bullnose seals (2) in the adjacent seals and in the applicable seal retainers.
NOTE: If necessary, trim the female side of the bullnose seal up to 0.1 in. (2.54 mm) to achieve a gap of 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) to 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) between the adjacent seals.
     (f) Let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: After six hours, the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) will be in the tack-free condition.
   (3) Install the upper bullnose seal (1).
     (a) Lightly rub the mating surfaces of seal retainers under the upper bullnose seal (1) with PU1-0003abrasive paper, 220-Grit.
     (b) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the upper seal cap and the upper bullnose seal (1). Use PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl on a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
     (c) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the upper seal cap and the upper bullnose seal (1) with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
     (d) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surface of the upper bullnose seal (1) and the seal retainers to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
     (e) Install the upper bullnose seal (1) in the upper seal cap and the applicable seal retainers.
NOTE: If necessary, trim the female side of the bullnose seal up to 0.1 in. (2.54 mm) to achieve a gap of 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) to 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) between the adjacent seals.
     (f) Let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: After six hours, the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) will be in the tack-free condition.
5. Close-up

   (1) Manually retract the right thrust reverser translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
