. (13) Manually retract the applicable translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
C. Installation of the IFS Vapor Barrier-Seal
(1) Install the vapor barrier seal (36).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the closeout bracket and the vapor barrier seal (36). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the closeout bracket and the vapor barrier seal (36) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the hinge beam seal (18) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the extension of the hinge beam seal (18) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the hinge beam seal (18) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the vapor barrier seal (36) to attach it along the extension of the hinge beam seal (18).
(g) Make sure that the clearance between the vapor barrier seal (36) and the adjacent hinge-beam seal (18) is 0.060 in. (1.52 mm) or less.
(h) Apply a thin brush layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the mating surfaces of the vapor barrier seal (36) and the adjacent hinge beam seal (18). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(i) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick.
(j) Install the vapor barrier seal (36) on the seal retainer support with the four nuts (37).
(k) TORQUE the nuts (37) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
.
(l) Put the extension of the hinge beam seal (18) into the end of the vapor barrier seal (36).
(m) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (7) and (8) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries.
1 Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(n) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the vapor barrier seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
