WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-72-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Inner Fixed Structure Fire Seals
F Right Thrust-Reverser Fire-Seals ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove the upper bifurcation fire seal (1).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seal.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (c) Remove the upper bifurcation fire seal (1) from the applicable seal retainers.
     (d) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (2) Remove the upper intermediate case fire seal (2).
     (a) Remove the pin (3) and nut (4) that attach the upper intermediate case fire seal (2) to the inner fixed structure.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seals.
     (c) Remove the upper intermediate case fire seal (2) from the applicable seal retainers.
   (3) Remove the intermediate case fire seal (5).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seal.
     (b) Remove the intermediate case fire seal (5) from the applicable seal retainers.
   (4) Remove the lower intermediate case fire seal (6).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seal.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (c) Remove the lower intermediate case fire seal (6) from the inner fixed structure.
     (d) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure and the forward bifurcation seal depressor with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (5) Remove the firewall fire seal (7).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the firewall.
     (b) Remove the firewall fire seal (7) from the seal retainer.
     (c) Remove the remaining sealant from the firewall with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (6) Remove the Active Clearance Control (ACC) inlet fire seal (8).
     (a) Remove the six bolts (9) and the six washers (10) that attach the ACC inlet fire seal (8) to the inner fixed structure.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (c) Remove the ACC inlet fire seal (8) from the inner fixed structure.
     (d) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.

B. Removal of the Inner Fixed Structure Pressure Seals
   (1) Remove the aft hinge beam seal (15).
     (a) Remove the aft hinge beam seal (15) from the seal retainer.
   (2) Remove the upper bifurcation seal (17).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seal.
     (b) Remove the upper bifurcation seal (17) from the applicable seal retainers.
   (3) Remove the hinge beam seal (18).
     (a) Remove the bolt (19) and nut (16) that attach the hinge beam seal (18) to the inner fixed structure.
     (b) Remove the two bolts (20) and the two nuts (16) that attach the hinge beam seal (18) to the seal retainer support.
     (c) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seals.
     (d) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (e) Cut the bond between the seal and the seal retainer support.
     (f) Remove the hinge beam seal (18) from the seal retainer and the seal retainer support.
     (g) Remove the remaining sealant from the seal retainer support and the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (4) Remove the forward hinge beam seal (21).
     (a) Remove the two bolts (22) and the two nuts (25) that attach the forward hinge beam seal (21) to the seal retainer support.
     (b) Remove the nut (25) that attaches the forward hinge beam seal (21) to the inner fixed structure.
     (c) Remove the two bolts (23) that attach the forward hinge beam seal (21) and the forward outboard hinge beam seal (24) to the inner fixed structure.
     (d) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seal.
     (e) Cut the bond between the seal, the seal retainer support and the retainer support.
     (f) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (g) Remove the forward hinge beam seal (21) from the seal retainer support, the retainer support and the inner fixed structure.
     (h) Remove the remaining sealant from the seal retainer support, the retainer support and the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (5) Remove the forward outboard hinge beam seal (24).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (b) Remove the forward outboard hinge beam seal (24) from the inner fixed structure.
     (c) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (6) Remove the latch beam-fan case seal (27).
     (a) Remove the four nuts (26) that attach the latch beam-fan case seal (27) to the inner fixed structure.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (c) Remove the latch beam-fan case seal (27) from the inner fixed structure.
     (d) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (7) Remove the drain mast seal (28).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal and the drain mast seal support.
     (b) Remove the drain mast seal (28) from the seal retainer.
     (c) Remove the remaining sealant from the drain mast seal support with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (8) Remove the gearbox breather seal (30).
     (a) Remove the gearbox breather seal (30) from the seal retainer.
   (9) Remove the cowl seal (29).
     (a) Cut the bond between the seal, the blanket and the adjacent structure.
     (b) Remove the core cowl seal (29) from the inner fixed structure.
     (c) Remove the remaining sealant from the blanket retainer and the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (10) Extension of translating sleeve
CAUTION: DO NOT EXTEND THE THRUST REVERSER TRANSLATING SLEEVE MORE THAN 3.93 IN. (100 MM) WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER DOOR ON THE INBOARD SIDE IS OPEN. THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE CAN HIT THE SLATS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS.
     (a) Manually extend the left thrust reverser translating sleeves a few inches or less to get access (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802).
   (11) Remove the upper inner fixed structure bullnose seal (31).
     (a) Remove the two nuts (32) that attach the upper inner fixed structure bullnose seal (31) to the inner fixed structure.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (c) Remove the upper inner fixed structure bullnose seal (31) from the inner fixed structure.
     (d) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (12) Remove the lower inner fixed structure bullnose seal (33).
     (a) Remove the two nuts (35) that attach the lower inner fixed structure bullnose seal (33) to the inner fixed structure.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent structure.
     (c) Remove the lower inner fixed structure bullnose seal (33) from the shield support assembly (34).
     (d) Remove the shield support assembly (34) from the inner fixed structure.
     (e) Remove the remaining sealant from the inner fixed structure with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
Subtask 78-32-72-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Removal of the Inner Fixed Structure Vapor Barrier Seal
   (1) Remove the vapor barrier seal (36).
     (a) Remove the four nuts (37) that attach the vapor barrier seal (36) to the seal retainer support.
     (b) Cut the bond between the seal and the seal retainer support.
     (c) Cut the bond between the seal and the closeout bracket.
     (d) Cut the bond between the seal and the adjacent seal.
     (e) Remove the vapor barrier seal (36) from the seal retainer support.
     (f) Remove the remaining sealant from the seal retainer support and the closeout bracket with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC or equivalent.
   (2) Installation of the protection covers
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
