4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-43-420-050-A
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. ANY UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND SOME PARTS.
A. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Right Hand Lower Actuator
NOTE: Each time TRIPLE TORQUE is required, perform as per SPM 702400910814.
NOTE: Remove CAP - PROTECTION from all open ports, tubes and hoses.
NOTE: Do a mark on connection after tightening application, refer to Standard Practices chapter (Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
   (1) Adjust the rod length of the replacement actuator (6) before you install it as follows:
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE ACTUATOR ROD TURN DURING THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. IF IT TURNS, DESYNCHRONIZATION OF THE ACTUATOR WILL OCCUR. IT WILL THEN BE NECESSARY TO SEND THE ACTUATOR BACK TO SAFRAN FOR SYNCHRONIZATION.
     (a) Hold the rod end of the replacement actuator (6) during the adjustment procedure. Do not let the rod end turn.
     (b) Install a WRENCH - STANDARD into the Manual Drive Unit (MDU) (14).
     (c) Make sure that the actuator is fully stowed.
     (d) Turn the MDU (14) the same number of turns as recorded at the start of the actuator removal procedure. This step is necessary to extend the actuator rod end to the same position as the other actuators.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the screws that follow with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) :
  • Eight screws (1)
