(b) Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE to turn the left Manual Drive Unit (MDU) in the deploy direction until you hear a click. Do not TORQUE more than 0.5 m.daN (44 lbf.in). The click tells you that the actuator is fully deployed and the clutch in the MDU has slipped.
(c) Make sure that the left upper actuator (25) and the left lower actuator (54) are in the fully deployed position as follows:
CAUTION:
DO NOT OPEN THE THRUST REVERSER MORE THAN 2 INCHES (51 MM). IF THE THRUST REVERSER HALVES ARE OPEN WHEN THE TRANSCOWL IS DEPLOYED, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT SLATS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE LATCH HANDLES DO NOT TOUCH THE ADJACENT PARTS. THE TRANSCOWL CAN MOVE A SMALL DISTANCE DURING THIS PROCEDURE.
1 Disconnect the coupling nut on the sync tube (51) from the left lower actuator (54). 2 Disengage the lower end of the sync shaft (53) from the square hole in the left lower actuator (54).
3 Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE to turn the left MDU in the deploy direction until you hear a click. Do not TORQUE more than 0.5 m.daN (44 lbf.in). The click tells you that the actuator is fully deployed and the clutch in the MDU has slipped.

CAUTION:
DURING THIS PROCEDURE, DO NOT LOCK THE RIGHT LOWER ACTUATOR. DO NOT PUT FORCE ON THE RIGHT LOWER ACTUATOR OR ON THE TRANSCOWL.
a Use a WRENCH - STANDARD 7/32 in. (5 mm) to turn the square drive at the lower end of the left sync shaft (53) in the deploy direction. TORQUE to 0.4 m.daN (35 lbf.in) to make sure that the left upper actuator (25) is in the fully deployed position. Do not TORQUE more than 0.4 m.daN (35 lbf.in). 5 Engage the lower end of the sync shaft (53) with the square hole in the left lower actuator (54).

.(5) Synchronize the left and right halves of the thrust reverser as follows:
(a) Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE to turn one of the MDUs in the deploy direction until you hear a click. Do not TORQUE more than 0.5 m.daN (44 lbf.in). The click tells you that the actuator is fully deployed and the clutch in the MDU has slipped.
(b) Make sure that the two lower actuators are in the fully deployed position as follows:
1 Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE to turn the right MDU in the deploy direction until you hear a click. Do not TORQUE more than 0.5 m.daN (44 lbf.in). The click tells you that the right lower actuator (5) is fully deployed and the clutch in the MDU has slipped.
2 Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE to turn the left MDU in the deploy direction until you hear a click. Do not TORQUE more than 0.5 m.daN (44 lbf.in). The click tells you that the left lower actuator (54) is fully deployed and the clutch in the MDU has slipped.
