B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 77-11-22-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

Subtask 77-11-22-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the NF Speed Probe
(2) Make sure that you wipe clean all the parts and tools to remove contamination and to prevent damage to the engine.
(3) Install the NF speed probe (1) to the No. 1 and No. 1.5 bearing support assembly as follows:
(a) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine or Sealing Ring Lubricant (Material No.P06-053) to the two new packings (4).
(b) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the three bolts (2).
(d) Install the NF speed probe (1) with the two bolts (14).
(e) Put the NF speed probe cable through the strut and fan intermediate case.
(f) Install the cushion (5) if necessary.
(g) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
equally and in small increments.
(h) Attach the NF speed probe (1) with the bolt (2) and clamp (3).
(i) TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
.
(4) Install the NF speed probe (1) on the compressor intermediate-case (CIC) bulkhead as follows:
(a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (17).
to install the white wire with blue stripe to hole No. 2 on the connector (14).
(d) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01 to install the white wire to hole No. 3 on the connector (14).
(e) Install the backshell approximately two full turns onto the connector (14).
(f) Make sure the protective braid is not under the backshell clamp.
(g) Install the eyelet into backshell clamp screw (15) and put the harness wires in position in the clamp.
(h) TORQUE the two nuts (16) to between 22 and 16 lbf.in (0.25 and 0.18 m.daN )
.
and do step 4 (b) again.
(j) TORQUE the backshell hex nut to between 130 and 110 lbf.in (1.47 and 1.24 m.daN )
.
(k) Do a continuity check of the pin No. 2 to ground (connector shell) which must read infinity (00).
(l) Do a continuity check of the pin No. 3 to ground (connector shell) which must read infinity (00).
(m) Do a continuity check of the pin No. 2 to pin No. 3 which must read within 30 ohms.
(n) If the continuity check does not check properly, disassemble the backshell, remove the wires with the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01 and do step A. (4)(b) again.
(o) Install the connector (14) to the compressor intermediate-case (CIC) bulkhead with the two bolts (17).
(p) TORQUE the two bolts (17) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
.
(5) Connect the wiring harness (WC04) connector (P44) to the NF speed probe receptacle (J44) as follows:
(a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
(b) Push lightly inward on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
(c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
(d) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
(e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
(f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(6) Install the NF speed probe cable on the spring clips as follows:
(a) Start at the middle of the NF speed probe cable.
(b) Put the NF speed probe cable into position and push it into the spring clips as you keep a 0.50 in. (12.70 mm) minimum distance from all other engine hardware.
(c) Make sure that all the spring clips are engaged with the NF speed probe cable.
(d) Make sure the tension in the NF speed probe cable is sufficient to prevent loose or tight conditions.
(7) Install the appropriate structural guide vane (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-02-400-803).
(8) Install the appropriate fan-exit liner segments (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-400-801).
(9) Install the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-400-801).
(10) Install the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-400-801).
(11) Examine the assembly for unwanted objects, damage and correct assembly.
(12) Make sure that you install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Make sure that you wipe clean all the parts and tools to remove contamination and to prevent damage to the engine.
(3) Install the NF speed probe (1) to the No. 1 and No. 1.5 bearing support assembly as follows:
(a) Apply
(b) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the three bolts (2).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(c) Install the two new EIPC 77-11-22-04-090 PACKINGS (4) to the NF speed probe (1). (d) Install the NF speed probe (1) with the two bolts (14).
(e) Put the NF speed probe cable through the strut and fan intermediate case.
(f) Install the cushion (5) if necessary.
(g) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
equally and in small increments. (h) Attach the NF speed probe (1) with the bolt (2) and clamp (3).
(i) TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
. (4) Install the NF speed probe (1) on the compressor intermediate-case (CIC) bulkhead as follows:
(a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (17).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Move the protective braid of the harness back and install the backshell to the cable end. NOTE: The backshell is not installed to the connector (14) at this time.
(c) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01 (d) Use the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01
(e) Install the backshell approximately two full turns onto the connector (14).
(f) Make sure the protective braid is not under the backshell clamp.
(g) Install the eyelet into backshell clamp screw (15) and put the harness wires in position in the clamp.
(h) TORQUE the two nuts (16) to between 22 and 16 lbf.in (0.25 and 0.18 m.daN )
. NOTE: The clamp saddle bars must touch on the backshell ears.
(i) Do a contact retention test (push test) on pin No. 2 and No. 3 with the RETENTION PIN TEST TOOL or equivalent tool: CAUTION:
DO NOT USE TOOLS TO PULL ON THE CONNECTOR PINS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE PINS CAN OCCUR.
1 If the pin(s) are pushed back into the connector (14), disassemble the backshell, remove the wires with the M8196914-02 CONTACT INSERT EXTRACT TOOLM8196917-01 (j) TORQUE the backshell hex nut to between 130 and 110 lbf.in (1.47 and 1.24 m.daN )
. (k) Do a continuity check of the pin No. 2 to ground (connector shell) which must read infinity (00).
(l) Do a continuity check of the pin No. 3 to ground (connector shell) which must read infinity (00).
(m) Do a continuity check of the pin No. 2 to pin No. 3 which must read within 30 ohms.

(o) Install the connector (14) to the compressor intermediate-case (CIC) bulkhead with the two bolts (17).
(p) TORQUE the two bolts (17) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
. (5) Connect the wiring harness (WC04) connector (P44) to the NF speed probe receptacle (J44) as follows:
(a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
(b) Push lightly inward on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
(c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
(d) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
(e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
(f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(6) Install the NF speed probe cable on the spring clips as follows:

(9) Install the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-03-400-801).
(10) Install the inlet cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-400-801).
(11) Examine the assembly for unwanted objects, damage and correct assembly.
(12) Make sure that you install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
Subtask 77-11-22-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
