Installation of the Inlet Cone

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 72-11-01-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Inlet Cone
(2) Make sure that the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or the MAT - PROTECTIVE is in position in the fan case.
(a) If necessary, clean the areas to be inspected by SPOP 208, wipe method (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
(b) If damage is found on the fan hub (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-06-210-802).
(c) If damage is found on the inlet cone (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-220-801).
(4) Install the inlet cone (1) on the fan hub as follows:
(a) Make sure that the lock ring is installed correctly before you install the inlet cone (1).
(b) Find the alignment marks on the fan hub and inlet cone (1).
(c) Install the two PWA29855-2 PIN - ALIGNING to the fan hub.
(d) Align and install the inlet cone (1) to the fan hub.
(e) ApplyP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize to the threads of the five bolts (3).
(g) Remove the two PWA29855-2 PIN - ALIGNING from the fan hub.
(h) Install two bolts (3) and washers (2) where the pins were located.
(i) Tighten the five bolts (3) equally in an opposite pattern and in small increments until the inlet cone (1) is in full contact with the fan hub.
(j) TORQUE the five bolts (3) to between 60 and 50 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.57 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern and in small increments until the same torque indication holds.
(5) Install the inlet cone cover (6) as follows:
(a) ApplyP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize to the threads of the five bolts (5).
(c) TORQUE the five bolts (5) to between 60 and 50 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.57 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds.
(6) Remove the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the inside of the fan case.
(7) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Make sure that the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or the MAT - PROTECTIVE is in position in the fan case.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU INSTALL THE INLET CONE, OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
(3) Do a visual inspection of the inlet cone flange hole and mating face, counterweight flange scallops, holes, inner and outer surfaces and inlet cone flange scallops on the fan hub assembly for nicks, dents and scratches as follows: - USE ALIGNMENT PINS
- IF ALIGNMENT PINS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, USE THE ALIGNMENT MARK THAT YOU APPLIED BEFORE YOU REMOVED THE INLET CONE
- IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE INLET CONE THAT YOU REMOVED, MAKE SURE THAT THE NEW INLET CONE IS VISUALLY CORRECTLY ALIGNED.
(a) If necessary, clean the areas to be inspected by SPOP 208, wipe method (Ref. AMM TASK 70-27-00-910-804).
(b) If damage is found on the fan hub (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-06-210-802).
(c) If damage is found on the inlet cone (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-11-01-220-801).
(4) Install the inlet cone (1) on the fan hub as follows:
(a) Make sure that the lock ring is installed correctly before you install the inlet cone (1).
(b) Find the alignment marks on the fan hub and inlet cone (1).
(c) Install the two PWA29855-2 PIN - ALIGNING to the fan hub.
(d) Align and install the inlet cone (1) to the fan hub.
(e) Apply
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(f) Install the inlet cone (1) with the three bolts (3) and washers (2). (g) Remove the two PWA29855-2 PIN - ALIGNING from the fan hub.
(h) Install two bolts (3) and washers (2) where the pins were located.
(i) Tighten the five bolts (3) equally in an opposite pattern and in small increments until the inlet cone (1) is in full contact with the fan hub.
(j) TORQUE the five bolts (3) to between 60 and 50 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.57 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern and in small increments until the same torque indication holds. (5) Install the inlet cone cover (6) as follows:
(a) Apply
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the inlet cone cover (6) to the inlet cone (1) with the five bolts (5) and washers (4). (c) TORQUE the five bolts (5) to between 60 and 50 lbf.in (0.68 and 0.57 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds. (6) Remove the 636-1100-3GSE INLET COWL PROTECT COVER or the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the inside of the fan case.
(7) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
