4. Procedure
Subtask 51-78-00-160-053-A
A. Clean the Area
   (1) Install the protective covers on all the electrical connections.
   (2) Identify the type of the aggressive media and make it chemically neutral.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A METAL SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. A METAL SCRAPER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
   (3) Remove loose material with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC, VACUUM EQUIPMENT 0 TO 0.4 BAR (6 PSI) or a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.
   (4) If installed, remove the PDUs before you start the wet cleaning (Ref. AMM TASK 25-52-26-000-001).
   (5) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) on the bonding point attachment-holes of the PDUs to prevent corrosion.
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 100 L(25 USGAL) in position below the drain mast outlets.
   (7) Flush the contaminated area with clean water.
   (8) Make a cleaning solution of 0.5% Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) and hot water (max 60 DEG.C (140.00 DEG.F)).
   (9) Clean the area that has contamination with the cleaning solution as follows:
     (a) The rate of flow of the cleaning solution must not be more than 5 l.min (1.32 USgal.mn).
     (b) Clean these areas:
  • The floor panel area of the applicable cargo compartment
  • The ball mat area of the applicable cargo compartment
  • The outboard-located rigid corner-sheets and sloping side walls in the applicable cargo compartment.
     (c) Clean the ball mats and the roller tracks with the cleaning solution and water.
     (d) Do not let the cleaning solution or water flow directly on the other components of the CLS.
     (e) Clean the outer flanges of the roller tracks with a BRUSH - WASHING.
     (f) Make sure that the dirty solution flows freely out of the fuselage drain masts.
   (10) Do a check of the forward and aft cargo compartment drain pan and funnel for clogging or contamination. If necessary, clean or replace them (Ref. AMM TASK 25-53-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 25-53-00-400-001).
   (11) Dry the cleaned area.
WARNING: DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN IF THERE ARE FUEL OR FUEL VAPORS AS SHOWN BY A COMBUSTIBLE INDICATOR. HEAT GUNS ARE A SOURCE OF COMBUSTION. FUEL OR FUEL VAPORS CAN CAUSE INJURY OR CAN KILL.
     (a) Dry the area with a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C(104 F).
