Installation of the Bulk Cargo-Compartment Floor-Panels (Alternative Installation Procedure with the Skyflex Option)
You can use this procedure as example if SB 53-1484 or SB 53-1485 is given.
The illustration is general and shows only the A319 NEO aircraft.
The task is applicable to aircraft with:
- Adhesive tape family ABS5631A, 14JAD1 (Sealing Profile- PTFE Expanded -) (Skyflex)

NOTE: The Functional Item Numbers (FIN) for the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels are given in description and operation 06-41-53-00.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft is in the same configuration as for the removal task.

Subtask 53-42-17-916-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Remove the sealant from the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(2) Clean the component interface and the adjacent area with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Replace the damaged cords (4) with new cords.
(6) Do a visual inspection of the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-50-00-200-002).
(7) Make sure that the adhesive tape (9) is in the correct condition.
(8) If necessary, replace the damaged Sealing Profile-- PTFE Expanded - (Material No.14JAD1) (9):
(a) Make sure that you apply the Sealing Profile-- PTFE Expanded - (Material No.14JAD1) (9) on the full width of the beams. If necessary, use more than one adhesive tape (9) on the same width.
(c) Make sure that the overlap B between the adhesive tapes (9) is 5 -2 mm or +5 mm (0.197 -0.079 in. or +0.197 in.).
(d) Make sure that the wider adhesive tape (9) is on top of the smaller adhesive tape (9).
(e) Make sure that there is a protrusion of minimum 2 mm (0.079 in.) of adhesive tape (9) along the rail edges.
(f) Make sure that the adhesive tape (9) is flush with the plugs.
(g) If necessary, cut the adhesive tape (9):
1 Make sure that there is a protrusion of minimum 2 mm (0.079 in.) of adhesive tape (9) to avoid damage on the structure protection.
(h) Apply the Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) on the area without tape.
(i) Make sure that the holes are clear. If not, use the plastic mandrel to remove the blockage.
(9) For each bulk cargo-compartment floor-panel (2) which has adhesive tapes (8) that are not in the correct condition:
(a) Remove the adhesive tapes (8) from the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panel (2).
(b) Discard the adhesive tapes (8).
(c) Clean the areas from which you removed the adhesive tapes (8) with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Apply the new Sealing Profile-Seat Rail Self Adhesive - I shape (Material No.14JMB1) (8) on the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panel (2).
Subtask 53-42-17-420-052-A (1) Remove the sealant from the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(2) Clean the component interface and the adjacent area with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(5) Replace the damaged cords (4) with new cords.
(6) Do a visual inspection of the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-50-00-200-002).
(7) Make sure that the adhesive tape (9) is in the correct condition.
(8) If necessary, replace the damaged Sealing Profile-- PTFE Expanded - (Material No.14JAD1) (9):
(a) Make sure that you apply the Sealing Profile-- PTFE Expanded - (Material No.14JAD1) (9) on the full width of the beams. If necessary, use more than one adhesive tape (9) on the same width.
NOTE: An overlap of maximum three layers of adhesive tape (9) is permitted.
(b) Make sure that the overlap A between the adhesive tapes (9) is 10 -5 mm or +5 mm (0.394 -0.197 in. or +0.197 in.).(c) Make sure that the overlap B between the adhesive tapes (9) is 5 -2 mm or +5 mm (0.197 -0.079 in. or +0.197 in.).
(d) Make sure that the wider adhesive tape (9) is on top of the smaller adhesive tape (9).
(e) Make sure that there is a protrusion of minimum 2 mm (0.079 in.) of adhesive tape (9) along the rail edges.
(f) Make sure that the adhesive tape (9) is flush with the plugs.
(g) If necessary, cut the adhesive tape (9):
1 Make sure that there is a protrusion of minimum 2 mm (0.079 in.) of adhesive tape (9) to avoid damage on the structure protection.
(h) Apply the Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) on the area without tape.
(i) Make sure that the holes are clear. If not, use the plastic mandrel to remove the blockage.
(9) For each bulk cargo-compartment floor-panel (2) which has adhesive tapes (8) that are not in the correct condition:
(a) Remove the adhesive tapes (8) from the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panel (2).
(b) Discard the adhesive tapes (8).
(c) Clean the areas from which you removed the adhesive tapes (8) with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(d) Apply the new Sealing Profile-Seat Rail Self Adhesive - I shape (Material No.14JMB1) (8) on the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panel (2).
NOTE: The removal of the Sealing Profile-Seat Rail Self Adhesive - I shape (Material No.14JMB1) is easy.
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you use the same adhesive tape (8) for all the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2).
(10) If necessary, apply the new Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Floor panel height compensation Silicone - (Material No.05PBD1) on the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2).NOTE: This keeps the offset between the adjacent bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) to a minimum.
B. Installation of the Bulk Cargo-Compartment Floor-Panels
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Put the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) and, if necessary, the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) in position as follows:
(a) Clean the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) to remove the dust and the dirt before the installation.
(b) Make sure that the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) are in correct condition.
(c) If they are not, replace the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7). For this, refer to the identification marks made during the removal procedure.
(d) Make sure that the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) are flush with the surfaces of the adjacent bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2).
(4) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) in the holes at the end of each seal to a minimum distance of 40 mm (1.5748 in.) from the edge of the seal.
(5) Make sure that all the seals are flush with each other.
(6) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the screws (1).
(7) Install the screws (1).
(8) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 0.42 and 0.37 m.daN (37.17 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(9) Make sure that the screws (1) are not too short. If they are, use the next available screw length.
(11) Make a loop at the two ends of the cord (4).
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is applicable to all the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2).
(1) Make sure that you removed the peel ply from the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) before the installation.(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Put the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2) and, if necessary, the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) in position as follows:
(a) Clean the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) to remove the dust and the dirt before the installation.
(b) Make sure that the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) are in correct condition.
(c) If they are not, replace the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7). For this, refer to the identification marks made during the removal procedure.
(d) Make sure that the seals (3), (5), (6) and (7) are flush with the surfaces of the adjacent bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2).
(4) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) in the holes at the end of each seal to a minimum distance of 40 mm (1.5748 in.) from the edge of the seal.
(5) Make sure that all the seals are flush with each other.
(6) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) on the screws (1).
(7) Install the screws (1).
(8) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 0.42 and 0.37 m.daN (37.17 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (9) Make sure that the screws (1) are not too short. If they are, use the next available screw length.
NOTE: The minimum protrusion length of a screw is a half thread.
(10) Install the FIBER GLASS CORD 1.1MM DIA. (DAN107-1) (4) between the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2). (11) Make a loop at the two ends of the cord (4).
NOTE: This will make the subsequent removal procedure easier.
(12) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or the Polysulfide Sealant-Gap Filler Easily Removed - - (Material No.06AHG1) between the bulk cargo-compartment floor-panels (2), the cutouts and the tiedowns. Subtask 53-42-17-410-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the applicable aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
Subtask 53-42-17-410-056-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the applicable aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
A. Close Access
(1) For panel 162KF, install the proximity switch (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-12-400-003).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Close the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
Subtask 53-42-17-850-052-A (1) For panel 162KF, install the proximity switch (Ref. AMM TASK 52-71-12-400-003).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Close the bulk cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
B. Completion
(1) Get access to the "UNIMATIC" display page (#3920) and enter the necessary data.
(2) Send the completed page to the Weight and Balance engineer.
