MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
ALWAYS USE APPLICABLE GLOVES TO TOUCH HOT PARTS. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING:
WHILE THE APU OPERATES, DO NOT GO INTO THESE AREAS:
- THE AREA BEHIND THE APU EXHAUST DUCT: 25m (82ft.) REARWARD OF THE DUCT, MORE THAN 3m (10ft.) ABOVE THE GROUND, AND THE WIDTH OF THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER
- THE AREA AROUND THE APU AIR-INTAKE: 2m (7ft) AROUND THE INTAKE
- THE AREA OF THE OIL-COOLER OUTLET.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE AREA AROUND THE APU IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU START THE APU.
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS IN THE APU COMPARTMENT AND/OR ON THE ACCESS PLATFORM CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU WHEN IT OPERATES.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Obey the safety precautions for the operation of the APU:

- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-91)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-910-002)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-910-003).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(3) Make sure that the engine shutdown occurred five minutes or more before you do this procedure.
(4) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG 1 and ENG 2 BLEED pushbutton-switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
(b) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(c) Make sure that the PACK 1 and 2 pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(d) Make sure that the PACK FLOW selector-switch is set to LO.
(5) On ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1 and 2.

(2) Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(3) Make sure that the engine shutdown occurred five minutes or more before you do this procedure.

C. Preparation for Cleaning of the Bleed-Air Ducting System
(1) Install the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE as follows:
(a) Open access door 191DB.
(b) Install the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE and the AIR START COUPLING to the HP ground connector (7300HM):
1 Make sure that the flaps of the HP ground connector is in the fully open position.
4. Procedure(1) Install the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE as follows:
(a) Open access door 191DB.
(b) Install the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE and the AIR START COUPLING to the HP ground connector (7300HM):
1 Make sure that the flaps of the HP ground connector is in the fully open position.

A. Cleaning of the Odor Smell in the Bleed-Air Ducting System
(1) Start the APU:
(a) Set the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch to the pushed position (the ON legend is on).
(a) On the SD, the BLEED page comes into view.
(4) Wait for a minimum of 15 minutes.
(5) The ECAM control panel can show the unusual BLEED and the pack fault messages.
(a) Set the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch to the released position (the ON legend is off).
(7) Stop the APU:
5. Close-up(1) Start the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-008).
NOTE: After the APU starts, Airbus recommends you to wait for a minimum of 3 minutes of warm up period before you select the APU BLEED.
(2) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU: (a) Set the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch to the pushed position (the ON legend is on).
NOTE: After this step, hot air goes out of the aircraft from the HP ground connector.
(3) On the ECAM control panel, push the BLEED key: (a) On the SD, the BLEED page comes into view.
(4) Wait for a minimum of 15 minutes.
(5) The ECAM control panel can show the unusual BLEED and the pack fault messages.
NOTE: The system operates correctly and it is not necessary to do the related troubleshooting procedure at this step.
(6) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU: (a) Set the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch to the released position (the ON legend is off).
(7) Stop the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
Subtask 36-12-00-080-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE and the AIR START COUPLING.
(3) Close access door 191DB.
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 36-12-00-860-132-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE and the AIR START COUPLING.
NOTE: After this procedure, the C21006-7 DEACTIVATOR - CHECK VALVE and the AIR START COUPLING will be hot to touch.
(2) Make sure that the HP ground connector flap is in the closed position.(3) Close access door 191DB.
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(2) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
(3) On the ECAM control panel, set the UPPER DISPLAY and LOWER DISPLAY potentiometers to OFF.
(4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(2) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
(3) On the ECAM control panel, set the UPPER DISPLAY and LOWER DISPLAY potentiometers to OFF.
(4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
