A. Installation of the High Pressure (HP) Tee Duct
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
(4) Loosely install the HP tee duct (15) between the upper HP duct, the HP regulator valve (20) and the lower HP duct.
(5) Attach the HP tee duct (15) to the upper HP duct with a serviceable AIPC 36-11-49-01-160 E-SEALS (5) and the coupling (10).
(6) Attach the HP tee duct (15) to the HP bleed valve (20) with a serviceable AIPC 36-11-51-02-025 E-SEALS (25) and the coupling (30).
(7) Attach the HP tee duct (15) to the lower HP duct with a serviceable AIPC 36-11-49-01-160 E-SEALS (5) and the coupling (10).
(9) Make sure that the HP tee duct (15) is in the correct position.
(10) TORQUE the coupling nuts, as follows:
(a) TORQUE the coupling nut to the value shown on the coupling.
(b) Tap the perimeter of the coupling with a fiber hammer, then torque the coupling nut again.
(c) Do the torque procedure two times, then torque the coupling nut again.
Subtask 36-11-49-480-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
(3) Remove the blanking plugs from the HP tee duct (15), the upper HP duct, the HP bleed valve (20) and the lower HP duct.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE SMOOTH CIRCULAR SURFACE OF THE COUPLING IS RADIALLY OUTBOARD FROM THE ENGINE. DO NOT LET THE COUPLING TOUCH ENGINE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE. DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE COULD OCCUR.
(8) Tighten the nuts of the couplings sufficiently to hold the duct in its position. Do not torque the coupling nuts at this time.
B. Preparation for the Leak Test
(1) Find the location of a pneumatic joint air-leak with one of the two procedures that follow:
(a) Apply Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or dry developer (Material No.CP3010) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-51-00-230-002) around the pneumatic joints, only on the connections of the removed pneumatic components.
1 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
2 Twist the seam of the foil wrap to make it tight.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the tube but do not cause damage to the wrap.
CP8004 lockwire 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) dia on the two sides of the pneumatic joint.
