   (1) Make sure that a MLG Clearance Check has been done (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-820-004).

   (1) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.

   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is pressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001).
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

D. Extension of the Landing Gear
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE LANDING GEAR ARE CLEAR.
   (1) Make sure that the rigging pin is removed from the applicable MLG uplock.
   (2) On the panel 400VU:
     (a) Put the landing gear control lever to the DOWN position.
     (b) Make sure that the landing gear locked down lights are Green.
   (3) Install the landing gear safety devices (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

E. Get Access
   (1) Open the applicable MLG door for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the adjustable access platform adjacent to the applicable MLG leg, zone 731(741).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-00-820-062-A
A. Prepare for Adjustment
   (1) Remove the applicable hinged fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-13-000-001).
   (2) Remove the applicable fixed fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-000-001).
   (3) Disconnect the free-fall linkage from the up-lock (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-44-000-001).

B. Adjustment of the Dimension 'X'
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Remove and discard the lockwire from the locknut (10).
   (2) Loosen the locknut (10).
   (3) Support the uplock unit.
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pin (12).
   (5) Remove the locknut (15), the washer (14) and the bolt (13).
   (6) Move the uplock unit until the eye-end (11) is clear of the attachment bracket.
   (7) Adjust the eye-end (11) to get the dimension 'W'. Refer to Table A for dimension 'W'.
NOTE: One 1/2 turn of the eye-end (11) moves the dimension 'W' 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.).

   (8) After adjustment of the eye-end (11). Make sure that dimension 'X' is not more than 117.4 mm (4.6220 in.) maximum and 93 mm (3.6614 in.) minimum.
   (9) Tighten the locknut (10) with your hand.
   (10) Align the eye-end (11) in the attachment bracket.
   (11) Install the bolt (13), the washer (14) and the locknut (15).
   (12) Tighten the locknut (15) by hand.

C. Adjustment of Dimension A
   (1) Bend the tab of the lock washer (2) down, and loosen the locknut (1).
   (2) Support the strut (4).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (4) Remove the locknut (18), the washer (19) and the bolt (20).
   (5) Move the strut (4) until the eye-end (16) is clear of the attachment bracket.
   (6) Remove the eye-end (16) from the strut (4).
   (7) Remove the locknut (1) from the eye-end (16).
   (8) Remove and discard the lock washer (2).
   (9) Remove the washer (3).
   (10) Clean the parts that follow with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) :
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (3)
  • The locknut (1).
   (11) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the parts that follow:
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (3)
  • The new lock washer (2)
  • The locknut (1).
   (12) Install the washer (3) and the new AIPC 32-31-03-22-132 LOCK WASHER (2) or the new AIPC 32-31-83-40-250 LOCK WASHER (2) on the eye-end (16).
   (13) Install the eye-end (16) in the strut (4).
   (14) Adjust the eye-end (16) to set dimension A.
NOTE: One half (1/2) turn of the eye-end (16) gives 1.1 mm (0.0433 in.) of movement of the uplock hook inboard or outboard.
   (15) After the adjustment of the eye-end (16):
  • Make sure that dimension Y is between 160 mm (6.2992 in.) and 177 mm (6.9685 in.).
   (16) Tighten the locknut (1) with your hand.
   (17) Align the eye-end (16) in the attachment bracket.
   (18) Install the bolt (20), the washer (19) and the locknut (18).
   (19) Tighten the locknut (18) with your hand.

D. Adjustment of Dimension B
   (1) Bend the tab of the lock washer (7) down, and loosen the locknut (8).
   (2) Support the strut (5).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (4) Remove the locknut (18), the washer (19) and the bolt (20).
   (5) Move the strut (5) until the eye-end (16) is clear of the attachment bracket.
   (6) Remove the eye-end (16) from the strut (5).
   (7) Remove and discard the lock washer (7).
   (8) Remove the washer (6).
   (9) Clean the parts that follow with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) :
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (6)
  • The locknut (8).
   (10) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the parts that follow:
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (6)
  • The new lock washer (7)
  • The locknut (8).
   (11) Install the washer (6) and the new AIPC 32-31-03-22-142 LOCK WASHER (7) or the new AIPC 32-31-83-40-300 LOCK WASHER (7) on the eye-end (16).
   (12) Install the eye-end (16) in the strut (5).
   (13) Adjust the eye-end (16) to set dimension B.
NOTE: One half (1/2) turn of the eye-end (16) gives 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) of movement of the uplock hook inboard or outboard.
   (14) After the adjustment of the eye-end (16):
  • Make sure that dimension Z is between 222 mm (8.7402 in.) and 239 mm (9.4095 in.).
   (15) Tighten the locknut (8) with your hand.
   (16) Align the eye-end (16) in the attachment bracket.
   (17) Install the bolt (20), the washer (19) and the locknut (18).
   (18) Tighten the locknut (18) with your hand.

E. Adjustment of Dimension Y
   (1) Bend the tab of the lock washer (2) down, and loosen the locknut (1).
   (2) Support the strut (4).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (4) Remove the locknut (18), the washer (19) and the bolt (20).
   (5) Move the strut (4) until the eye-end (16) is clear of the attachment bracket.
   (6) Remove the eye-end (16) from the strut (4).
   (7) Remove the locknut (1) from the eye-end (16).
   (8) Remove and discard the lock washer (2).
   (9) Remove the washer (3).
   (10) Clean the parts that follow with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) :
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (3)
  • The locknut (1).
   (11) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the parts that follow:
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (3)
  • The new lock washer (2)
  • The locknut (1).
   (12) Install the washer (3) and the new AIPC 32-31-83-40-250 LOCK WASHER (2) on the eye-end (16).
   (13) Install the eye-end (16) in the strut (4).
   (14) Adjust the eye-end (16) to set dimension Y.
NOTE: One half (1/2) turn of the eye-end (16) gives 1.1 mm (0.0433 in.) of movement of the uplock hook inboard or outboard.
   (15) After the adjustment of the eye-end (16):
  • Make sure that dimension Y is between 160 mm (6.2992 in.) and 177 mm (6.9685 in.).
   (16) Tighten the locknut (1) with your hand.
   (17) Align the eye-end (16) in the attachment bracket.
   (18) Install the bolt (20), the washer (19) and the locknut (18).
   (19) Tighten the locknut (18) with your hand.

F. Adjustment of Dimension B
   (1) Bend the tab of the lock washer (7) down, and loosen the locknut (8).
   (2) Support the strut (5).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (4) Remove the locknut (18), the washer (19) and the bolt (20).
   (5) Move the strut (5) until the eye-end (16) is clear of the attachment bracket.
   (6) Remove the eye-end (16) from the strut (5).
   (7) Remove and discard the lock washer (7).
   (8) Remove the washer (6).
   (9) Clean the parts that follow with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) :
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (6)
  • The locknut (8).
   (10) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the parts that follow:
  • The eye-end (16)
  • The washer (6)
  • The new lock washer (7)
  • The locknut (8).
   (11) Install the washer (6) and the new AIPC 32-31-83-40-300 LOCK WASHER (7) on the eye-end (16).
   (12) Install the eye-end (16) in the strut (5).
   (13) Adjust the eye-end (16) in increments of one half (1/2) turn to get the correct dimension B between surfaces A and B.
     (a) Use the GAGE - DEPTH and make sure that dimension B is between 21.5 mm (0.8465 in.) and 29.5 mm (1.1614 in.).
NOTE: One half (1/2) turn of the eye-end (16) gives 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) of movement of the uplock hook forward or aft.
   (14) After the adjustment of the eye-end (16):
  • Make sure that dimension Z is between 222 mm (8.7402 in.) and 239 mm (9.4095 in.).
   (15) Tighten the locknut (8) with your hand.
   (16) Align the eye-end (16) in the attachment bracket.
   (17) Install the bolt (20), the washer (19) and the locknut (18).
   (18) Tighten the locknut (18) with your hand.

G. MLG Clearance Check
   (1) Make sure that the dimensions are correct (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-820-004). If the dimensions are not correct, do the adjustment procedure again.

H. Safety the Attachment Points
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Torque the locknuts (1) and (8) to between 1.40 and 1.30 m.daN (123.89 and 115.04 lbf.in ) T.
   (2) Safety the locknuts (1) and (8) with the lock washers (2) and (7).
   (3) Torque the locknut (10) to between 15.33 and 13.87 m.daN (113.05 and 102.29 lbf.ft )

   (4) Safety the locknut (10) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (5) Torque the attachment bolt locknuts (15) and (18) to between 7.8 and 6.8 m.daN (57.52 and 50.15 lbf.ft )
T.
   (6) Safety the locknuts (18) with the
AIPC 32-31-03-22-180 COTTER PINS (17) or AIPC 32-31-83-40-070 COTTER PINS (17) and the locknut (15) with the AIPC 32-31-03-22-120 COTTER PIN (12) or AIPC 32-31-83-40-320 COTTER PIN (12).
   (7) Connect the free-fall linkage mechanism to the uplock unit (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-44-400-001).
   (8) Install the hinged fairing that was removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-13-400-001). Make sure that the hinged fairing clearances are correct.
   (9) Install the fixed fairing that was removed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-14-400-001). Make sure that the fixed fairing clearances are correct.
   (10) Remove the access platform(s).

I. Functional Test of the MLG
   (1) Do a functional test of the extension and retraction of the MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-00-720-002).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurise the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the MLG door that was open for maintenance is closed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
