A. Functional Test of the Solenoid of the Landing-Gear Safety Valve
(1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid of the landing-gear safety valve.
(2) Install the test equipment that follow, as shown in the circuit diagram:
(4) Connect the electrical test cable of the VOLTMETER - DC to the solenoid connector as follows:
(6) Measure and record the voltage shown on the VOLTMETER - DC.
(a) Make sure that the voltage is between 4.0 and 4.5 VDC.
(7) Set the supply voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL to zero.
(8) Change the polarity of the electrical test cable connected to the solenoid connector as follows:
(10) Measure and record the voltage shown on the VOLTMETER - DC.
(a) Make sure that the voltage is between 0.5 and 0.8 VDC.
(11) When you change the polarity of the electrical test cable:
(a) Make sure that the voltage values are changed from 4.0 and 4.5 VDC to 0.5 and 0.8 VDC .
5. Close-up(1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid of the landing-gear safety valve.
(2) Install the test equipment that follow, as shown in the circuit diagram:
- The SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL
- The VOLTMETER - DC 0 to 50 VDC +/- 1% correct to output
- The AMMETER - DIGITAL 0 to 1A +/-1%
- The electrical test cable.
(4) Connect the electrical test cable of the VOLTMETER - DC to the solenoid connector as follows:
- Connect the positive (+) pole of the electrical test cable to pin B of the solenoid connector.
- Connect the negative (-) pole of the electrical test cable to pin A of the solenoid connector.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INCREASE THE VOLTAGE IN VERY SMALL INCREMENTS TO KEEP THE AMMETER READING TO A MAXIMUM OF 0.1 AMPERE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DIODE CAN OCCUR.
(5) Gradually increase the voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL in very small increments until the AMMETER - DIGITAL shows 0.1A.(6) Measure and record the voltage shown on the VOLTMETER - DC.
- Connect the positive (+) pole of the electrical test cable to pin A of the solenoid connector.
- Connect the negative (-) pole of the electrical test cable to pin B of the solenoid connector.
CAUTION:

(9) Gradually increase the voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL in very small increments until the AMMETER - DIGITAL shows 0.1A.(10) Measure and record the voltage shown on the VOLTMETER - DC.
(a) Make sure that the voltage is between 0.5 and 0.8 VDC.
(11) When you change the polarity of the electrical test cable:
(a) Make sure that the voltage values are changed from 4.0 and 4.5 VDC to 0.5 and 0.8 VDC .
NOTE: This will make sure that the diode operates correctly.
