3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-31-00-941-082-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001) .
   (3) On panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear system.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat system.
Subtask 32-31-00-010-074-A
B. Get Access
   (1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Install the safety devices on the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
Subtask 32-31-00-860-087-A
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 32-31-00-869-106-A
D. Flight Configuration Precautions
   (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
   (2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-31-00-720-066-A
A. Functional Test of the Solenoid of the Landing-Gear Safety Valve
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid of the landing-gear safety valve.
   (2) Install the test equipment that follow, as shown in the circuit diagram:
  • The SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL
  • The VOLTMETER - DC 0 to 50 VDC +/- 1% correct to output
  • The AMMETER - DIGITAL 0 to 1A +/-1%
  • The electrical test cable.
   (3) Set the supply voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL to zero.
   (4) Connect the electrical test cable of the VOLTMETER - DC to the solenoid connector as follows:
  • Connect the positive (+) pole of the electrical test cable to pin B of the solenoid connector.
  • Connect the negative (-) pole of the electrical test cable to pin A of the solenoid connector.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INCREASE THE VOLTAGE IN VERY SMALL INCREMENTS TO KEEP THE AMMETER READING TO A MAXIMUM OF 0.1 AMPERE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DIODE CAN OCCUR.
   (5) Gradually increase the voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL in very small increments until the AMMETER - DIGITAL shows 0.1A.
   (6) Measure and record the voltage shown on the VOLTMETER - DC.
     (a) Make sure that the voltage is between 4.0 and 4.5 VDC.
   (7) Set the supply voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL to zero.
   (8) Change the polarity of the electrical test cable connected to the solenoid connector as follows:
  • Connect the positive (+) pole of the electrical test cable to pin A of the solenoid connector.
  • Connect the negative (-) pole of the electrical test cable to pin B of the solenoid connector.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INCREASE THE VOLTAGE IN VERY SMALL INCREMENTS TO KEEP THE AMMETER READING TO A MAXIMUM OF 0.1 AMPERE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE DIODE CAN OCCUR.
   (9) Gradually increase the voltage on the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL in very small increments until the AMMETER - DIGITAL shows 0.1A.
   (10) Measure and record the voltage shown on the VOLTMETER - DC.
     (a) Make sure that the voltage is between 0.5 and 0.8 VDC.
   (11) When you change the polarity of the electrical test cable:
     (a) Make sure that the voltage values are changed from 4.0 and 4.5 VDC to 0.5 and 0.8 VDC .
NOTE: This will make sure that the diode operates correctly.
