A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
(3) On the ECAM control panel on the central pedestal, push the HYD P/BSW.
(4) Make sure that the HYD page of the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU) comes on.
(5) Make sure that the ECAM does not show one of these warnings:
(7) If necessary, add fluid to the applicable reservoir(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).
(8) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system upstream of the engine pump is bled (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-870-004).
(9) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system upstream of the PTU is bled (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-870-005).

A. Functional Test of the PTU with the Yellow E-Pump and a Ground Hydraulic Supply
(2) As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test of the PTU with the engine pumps (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-710-004).
(3) To prevent damage to the PTU:
5. Close-upWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
DO NOT CONNECT GROUND POWER SUPPLIES TO THE GREEN AND YELLOW HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS AT THE SAME TIME. THIS COULD CAUSE:
(1) For identification of the PTU Status Symbols refer to Para. Operation/Control and Indicating (Ref. AMM D/O 29-23-00-00). - THE PTU TO OPERATE TOO FAST
- DAMAGE TO THE PTU IF ONE GROUND POWER SUPPLY IS IN OPERATION AND THE OTHER IS IN THE BY-PASS MODE.
(2) As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test of the PTU with the engine pumps (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-710-004).
(3) To prevent damage to the PTU:
- Make sure that the air pressure in the Green and Yellow reservoirs does not decrease to less than 3 bar (43.5113 psi).
- Do not let the flow of the ground hydraulic supply increase to more than 76 l.min (20.0769 USgal.mn).

NOTE: When the PTU starts, the pressure in the Green hydraulic system can decrease to 2000 psi for a short time.
NOTE: The PTU operates intermittently between the given limits. NOTE: If the PTU operates continuously do a leakage check of the Yellow hydraulic system. |
| 4.Push the left rudder pedal (on one of the two rudder pedal pairs) and then the right rudder pedal fully forward to operate the rudder. Do this again not less than five times. | On the ECAM lower DU:
NOTE: The PTU transfer line can go out of view during the test (PTU transfer line reset), which is a normal ECAM indication step. |
| 5.Put the rudder pedals in the neutral position. | |
