Installation of the Self Sealing Half-Coupling of the Yellow Pump Suction

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.

   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate this pushbutton switch.
   (2) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • On the HYD section of panel 40VU
  • On access door 198CB, on the ground-service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

E. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-39-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Self Sealing Half-Coupling of the Yellow Pump Suction
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that the CONTAINER 10 L(2 1/2 USGAL) is in position below the hydraulic connections.
   (5) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-13-86-01-020 PACKING (2) and AIPC 29-13-86-01-015 PACKING (4).
   (6) Install the packing (2) on the self sealing half-coupling (3) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-29-00-911-002).
   (7) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the port of the pylon fuel-hydraulic panel (1).
   (8) Install the self sealing half-coupling (3) on the pylon fuel-hydraulic panel (1).
   (9) TORQUE the self sealing half-coupling (3) to between 156.2 and 127.8 m.N (115.19 and 94.25 lbf.ft ) T.
   (10) Install the packing (4) and the new
AIPC 29-13-86-01-013 RETAINER (5) on the self sealing half-coupling (3).
   (11) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the hose half-coupling (6).
   (12) Connect the hose half-coupling (6) to the self sealing half-coupling (3).
   (13) Turn the sleeve of the hose half-coupling (6) until the teeth fully engage and you cannot turn the sleeve more.
   (14) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line

Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
Subtask 29-13-39-420-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Self Sealing Half-Coupling of the Yellow Pump Suction

CAUTION: DO NOT USE HIGH-DENSITY FLUID SKYDROL 500B-4 FOR A320NEO FAMILY. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
   (5) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the new AIPC 29-13-86-01-020 PACKING (2) and AIPC 29-13-86-01-015 PACKING (4).
   (6) Install the packing (2) on the self sealing half-coupling (3) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-29-00-911-002).
   (7) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the port of the pylon fuel-hydraulic panel (1).
   (8) Install the self sealing half-coupling (3) on the pylon fuel-hydraulic panel (1).
   (9) TORQUE the self sealing half-coupling (3) to between 156.2 and 127.8 m.N (115.19 and 94.25 lbf.ft ) T.
   (10) Install the packing (4) and the new
AIPC 29-13-86-01-013 RETAINER (5) on the self sealing half-coupling (3).
   (11) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the sealing half-coupling (3).
   (12) Connect the hose half-coupling (6) to the self sealing half-coupling (3).
   (13) Turn the sleeve of the hose half-coupling (6) until the teeth fully engage and you cannot turn the sleeve more.
   (14) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line

Subtask 29-13-39-710-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Operational Test
   (1) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (2) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002)
   (3) After the dry motoring, make sure that there were no leaks from the hydraulic connections.
   (4) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Yellow reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-39-410-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the container.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Close the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
