B. Removal of the O-ring
CAUTION: DO NOT USE POINTED, SHARP OR METAL TOOLS TO REMOVE THE O-RING. SHARP EDGES CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE GROOVES OR SEAL CONTACT SURFACES OF THE PLUG-IN COMPONENT.
   (1) Use spoon-type removal tools or a wedge-type removal tool with a hook to remove the O-ring.
   (2) Discard the O-ring.
Subtask 20-29-00-911-054-A
C. Installation of the O-ring
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE REMOVED O-RING AGAIN. YOU MUST ALWAYS INSTALL A NEW O-RING BEFORE YOU INSTALL A REMOVED PLUG-IN COMPONENT AGAIN. A COMPRESSED SEAL WILL NOT GO BACK TO ITS INITIAL CONDITION.
   (1) Safety precautions
     (a) Before the installation, make sure that the Part Number (P/N) of the O-ring is correct. Refer to the applicable Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) references.
     (b) Make sure that the parts you install are clean and not damaged.
     (c) Before you install the O-ring, make sure that the plug-in component is not damaged.
  • Discard the plug-in component if it has scratches or the groove of the O-ring is damaged.
   (2) Installation of the O-ring on the plug-in component
     (a) Get the O-ring installation tool applicable to the diameter of the plug-in component.
     (b) Install the sleeve (1) on the plug-in component.
     (c) Lubrication
CAUTION: ONLY USE HYDRAULIC FLUID MATERIAL NO. 02ABA1. OTHER LUBRICANTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE O-RING.
1 Put the O-ring fully into Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) for a maximum of 30 minutes (this is to make sure that the wet surfaces of the seals are clean and no particle is stuck) before you install it on the sleeve (1).
2 Lightly apply Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) to the conical end of the sleeve (1).
     (d) Put the O-ring on the sleeve (1) until it touches the conical end of the sleeve (1).
     (e) Move the pusher (2) on the sleeve (1) until it touches the O-ring.
     (f) Push the pusher until the O-ring is in the correct position in the groove of the plug-in component.
     (g) Make sure that the O-ring is in the correct position without torsion or damage.
     (h) Remove the tool.
Subtask 20-29-00-911-055-A
D. Installation of the Plug-in Component on the Equipment Port or on the Manifold Port
   (1) Lubricate only the thread of the housing with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
Do not lubricate the external thread of the plug-in component (O-ring side) because the lubricant can push out the O-ring from the plug-in component during the assembly.
   (2) Install the plug-in component on the equipment or manifold and tighten manually.
NOTE: The plug-in component must turn freely in the equipment or manifold port.
   (3) TORQUE the plug-in component to the applicable value (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-12-911-001).
