4. Procedure
Subtask 29-10-00-720-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF THE ENGINE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS. THE ENGINE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS ARE ARMED DURING THE TEST.
CAUTION: DO NOT START OR DRY MOTOR THE ENGINES WITH A HYDRAULIC GROUND POWER SUPPLY CONNECTED TO THE AIRCRAFT. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE PUMPS.
A. Do this test
NOTE: This procedure as written is for the valve 1046GK, differences in the procedure for the valve 3046GD are shown in brackets.
NOTE: On the glareshield panels 130VU and 131VU:
  • Reset the MASTER CAUT lights before you do the subsequent procedure.
ACTION
RESULT
1.Dry motor the left (right) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001).
The left (right) engine turns and causes the engine pump of the Green (Yellow) hydraulic system to turn. The ECAM lower display unit (DU) shows the pressure in the Green (Yellow) hydraulic system is 3000 psi approximately.
2.Operate the sidestick and rudder pedals so that the control surfaces move continuously.

3.On the ECAM Lower DU:

  • Monitor and make a note of the Green (Yellow) hydraulic fluid level.

4.On the ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD of the overhead panel 20VU:
On the ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD of the overhead panel 20VU:
  • Lift the guard and push and release the ENG 1 FIRE (ENG 2 FIRE) P/BSW.
  • The SQUIB lights of the ENG 1 FIRE/AGENT 1 and ENG 1 FIRE/AGENT 2 (ENG 2 FIRE/AGENT 1 and ENG 2 FIRE/AGENT 2) come on.
  • Continue to operate the side stick and the rudder pedals.
NOTE: The noise that you can hear comes from the engine driven pump and is normal

On the ECAM lower DU:

  • The fire valve symbol of the GREEN (YELLOW) hydraulic system changes from in-line and green-colored to 90 degrees out-of-line and amber-colored.

  • The index of the Green (Yellow) hydraulic fluid level moves up.

  • The pressure in the Green (Yellow) hydraulic system decreases to less than 700 psi in not more than 60 s from operation of the P/BSW.

The single chime audio warning operates.

On the glareshield panels 130VU and 131VU:
  • The MASTER CAUT lights come on.
5.Stop the operation of the sidestick and rudder pedals.

6.On the ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD of the overhead panel 20VU:
On the ENG/APU FIRE panel 1WD of the overhead panel 20VU:
  • Push the ENG 1 FIRE (ENG 2 FIRE) P/BSW.

  • Make sure that the P/BSW guard goes back to its initial position.
  • The SQUIB lights of the ENG 1 FIRE/AGENT 1 and ENG 1 FIRE/AGENT 2 (ENG 2 FIRE/AGENT 1 and ENG 2 FIRE/AGENT 2) go off.

On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The fire valve symbol of the GREEN (YELLOW) hydraulic system changes from 90 degrees out-of-line and amber-colored to in-line and green-colored.

  • The pressure in the Green (Yellow) hydraulic system increases.

  • The index of the Green (Yellow) hydraulic fluid level goes back to its initial position.

On the glareshield panels 130VU and 131VU:
  • The MASTER CAUT lights go off.
NOTE: It is possible that you must reset the MASTER CAUT lights, if messages other than ENGINE NO. 1(2) shut down, be displayed on the ECAM.
7.Stop the dry motoring of the left (right) engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-001).

WARNING: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON CIRCUIT BREAKER PANELS. THERE IS A HIGH VOLTAGE BEHIND THESE PANELS.
8.Open the overhead panel 49VU to get access to the pins of the circuit breaker 1703GK (3702GD).

9.Connect a AMMETER - DIGITAL (with a range of less than 500mA) between the terminal 1 and terminal 2 of the circuit breaker 1703GK (3702GD) with alligator clips.
NOTE: Make sure that the AMMETER - DIGITAL is correctly calibrated.

10.Open the circuit breaker 1703GK (3702GD).

11.Make sure that the AMMETER - DIGITAL shows 0 mA.
NOTE: Take into account the tolerance of the AMMETER - DIGITAL.
NOTE: If the AMMETER - DIGITAL does not show 0 mA, replace the fire shut-off valve 1046GK (3046GD) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-52-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-52-400-001) or ( (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-52-000-001)) and ( (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-52-400-001)).
NOTE: With a permanent operation of the electrical motor of the fire shut-off valve, because of an incomplete opening of the valve, the current range can be from 25 mA (clutch worn) to 400 mA.

12.Disconnect the AMMETER - DIGITAL.

13.Close the circuit breaker 1703GK (3702GD).

14.Install the overhead panel 49VU.
