3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-28-31-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system, you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
   (4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
  • On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
  • On the FUEL section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
  • On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system
  • On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
   (6) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate the MLG doors.
   (7) Make sure that the fuel center tank is defueled (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (8) Make sure that the right MLG door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (9) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the right MLG door.
   (10) Make sure that the protective cover of the ACT-equipment support door is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-003).
   (11) Make sure that the ACT fuel-transfer pump-element is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 28-28-51-000-001).
   (12) Make sure that access cover 148AZ is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-28-31-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Mounting Plate
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (4) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-05-01-020 PACKING (7).
   (5) Install the packing (7) in the groove of the canister (8).
   (6) Put the canister (8) in position and install the six washers (2) and the six bolts (1).
   (7) Tighten the bolts (1).
   (8) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.
01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-05-11-150 PACKING (22).
   (9) Install the packing (22) in the groove of the pipe (21).
   (10) Connect the pipe (21) to the canister (8) and tighten the nut (20).
   (11) Install the bolts (17) on the pipe (18) and connect it to the canister (8). Install the nuts (19) and tighten.
   (12) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.
01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-05-10-090 PACKING (13).
   (13) Put the pipe (14) in position on the canister (8) and install the new packing (13).
   (14) Tighten the unions of the pipe (14).
   (15) Install the washer (16) and the screw (15) and tighten them.
   (16) Put the pipe (12) in position on the canister (8) and install the washers (10), the bolts (11) and the nuts (9).
   (17) Tighten the nuts (9).
   (18) Install the bonding strap (4), the washer (5), the nut (3) and the bolt (6).
   (19) Tighten the bolt (6).
Subtask 28-28-31-420-050-H ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ACT Fuel-Transfer-Pump Mounting-Plate
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

   (4) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-83-01-140 O-RING (3).
   (5) Install the O-ring (3) in the groove of the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (6) Put the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) in position and install the washers (2) and the bolts (1).
   (7) TORQUE the bolts (1) to between 4.64 and 3.87 m.daN (34.22 and 28.54 lbf.ft )
T.
   (8) Apply Primer Polyurethane Paint_- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.
04EAC2) on the bolts (1) and the washers (2).
   (9) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-85-10-030 O-RING (4).
   (10) Install the O-ring (4) on the elbow (9).
   (11) Put the elbow (9) in position on the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (12) Install the elbow (9) on the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) with the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
   (13) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
T.
   (14) Install the pipe (14) on the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) and connect the bonding strap (13) with the bolts (12) and the nuts (24).
   (15) TORQUE the nuts (24) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
   (16) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.
01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-85-11-220 O-RING (17).
   (17) Install the O-ring (17) on the pipe (15).
   (18) Connect the pipe (15) to the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) with the nut (16).
   (19) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 5.3 and 4.8 m.daN (39.09 and 35.40 lbf.ft )
T.
   (20) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.
01ABA1) to the new AIPC 28-28-85-10-120 O-RING (20).
   (21) Install the O-ring (20) on the union (19).
   (22) Install the union (19) on the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25).
   (23) TORQUE the union (19) to between 1.3 and 1.2 m.daN (115.04 and 106.19 lbf.in )
T.
   (24) Put the pipe (21) in position on the union (19) and the connection bulkhead (23).
   (25) TORQUE the union (18) to between 1.3 and 1.2 m.daN (115.04 and 106.19 lbf.in )
T.
   (26) TORQUE the union (22) to between 1.3 and 1.2 m.daN (115.04 and 106.19 lbf.in )
T.
   (27) Install the bonding strap (27) on the ACT fuel-transfer-pump mounting-plate (25) with the washer (28), the nut (29) and the bolt (26).
   (28) TORQUE the nut (29) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
   (29) Install the bonding strap (31) on the pipe (21) with the bolt (32) and the nut (30).
   (30) TORQUE the nut (30) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
   (31) Install the bonding strap (10) on the elbow (9) with the bolt (11), the washer (8) and the nut (7).
   (32) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
   (33) Do a check of the electrical bonding (

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the protective cover of the ACT-equipment support door (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-003).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the right MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
