A. Painting of a Ceiling Panel
   (1) Remove the ceiling panel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-41-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-42-000-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-42-000-002).
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the ceiling panel. Obey the MAINTENANCE HISTORY DATA, if available.
CAUTION: MEASURE THE THICKNESS OF THE PAINT ON THE SURFACES OF THE COMPONENT BEFORE YOU PAINT THEM AGAIN. PAINT THAT IS TOO THICK INCREASES THE WEIGHT AND THE FLAMMABILITY PROPERTIES OF THE AIRCRAFT.
   (3) Measure the paint layer thickness with the GAGE-THICKNESS, PAINT BORER 518 and do check if the maximum paint layer thickness is 90 micrometers.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PAINT COATING WITH ABRASIVE PAPER.
   (4) If the paint layer thickness is more than 90 micrometers, carefully remove the unwanted paint with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400). Make sure that the maximum paint layer thickness is 90 micrometers.
   (5) Carefully sand the surfaces with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400).
   (6) Clean the surfaces with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (7) Apply a layer of minimum 15 micrometers of Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) with a maximum of 25 micrometers to the surface with the GUN - AIR SPRAY, STANDARD PAINT or PAINTBRUSH.
NOTE: The paint layer thickness must be between 50 and 90 micrometers.
NOTE: For A318/A319/A320/A321, only these top coats are permitted: ALEXIT FST 404-12, ALEXIT FST 346-55, FRS40 and FR2/55.
   (8) Let the paint dry at a temperature of 23 +2 deg.C or -2 deg.C (73.40 +3.60 deg.F or -3.60 deg.F) and a relative humidity of 45-55% for:
  • 5-30 minutes if it must be dry against dust
  • 5-8 hours if it must be dry for transport
  • 12 hours if it must be dry for installation.
   (9) Install the ceiling panel (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-41-400-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-42-400-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-42-400-002).
