3. Job Set-up
Subtask 75-33-05-941-053-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 75-33-05-210-051-A
A. Visual Inspection of the Transient Bleed Valve (TBV)
   (1) Do a visual inspection of the TBV as follows:

REMARKS
1.Examine the TBV for:


  • Signs of fuel leaks
Permitted to have fuel stains if you do not find drops of fuel. A fuel leak that makes drops of fuel is not permitted.
NOTE: Wetting of the valve shaft is permitted if there are no drops of fuel.
If you find signs of a fuel leak, do these steps:

  • Looseness
Not permitted.
Tighten the mount locations and mount brackets (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-400-801).
  • Crack and Dents
Not permitted.
Replace the TBV (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-400-801).
  • Signs of air leaks from the seals on the TBV
Not permitted.
Replace the seals on the TBV (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-400-801).
  • Loose TBV electrical connectors
Not permitted.
Tighten the electrical connector (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804). If the electrical connector has damage, replace the wiring harness HJ8A (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-60-000-813) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-60-400-813).
  • Damaged TBV electrical receptacle
Small damage to the TBV electrical receptacle threads is permitted.
Repair the damaged threads so that the connector can be tightened and hold torque.

Other damage not permitted.
Replace the TBV (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-400-801).

  • Damaged insulation blanket surrounding the valve
END OF PRE SB 72-0190
Damage to the insulation blanket surrounding the valve is permitted if no insulation material is exposed.
If the blanket is damaged and insulation material is exposed, TBV must be replaced (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-33-05-400-801).
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
