BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-21-60-010-080-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 73-21-60-010-086-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

A. Removal of the HJ8A Engine Wiring Harness (4158KS)
(1) Remove the segment shroud 2 (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
(2) Remove the segment shroud 5 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
(b) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fan overheat temperature sensor 1 channel A receptacle (4250KS1) (12) (at the 12 o'clock position).
(c) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the Fuel Return Valve (FRV) channel A receptacle (4018KS) (13) (at the 10 o'clock position).
(d) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fan overheat temperature sensor 2 channel A receptacle (4250KS2) (14) (at the 6 o'clock position).
(e) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the Transient Bleed Valve (TBV) (4164KS) (24) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(f) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the start bleed valve (4161KS) (23) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(g) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) Active Clearance Control (ACC) (4025KS) (33) (at the 11 o'clock position).
(h) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) Active Clearance Control (4162KS) (ACC) (34) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
(i) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the T3 sensor channel A (4084KS1) (35) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
(j) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the turbine center frame accelerometer (4187KS) (38) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(k) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the T48 harness (left) (4168KS1) (39) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
(l) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fuel temperature transducer (4910KS) (40) (at the 3:30 o'clock position).
(m) Remove the two bolts (10) that attach the connector socket (8) to the bracket (9).
(n) Disconnect the connector socket (8) from the HJ8B engine wiring harness connector (11) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(4) Removal of the bolts from the clamps that attach to the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1):
(a) Remove the bolt (6) from the clamp (7).
(b) Remove the bolt (16) from the clamp (15).
(c) Remove the bolt (17) from the clamp (18).
(d) Remove the bolt (19) from the clamp (22).
(e) Remove the bolt (20) from the clamp (21).
(f) Remove the bolt (29) from the clamp (32).
(g) Remove the bolt (30) from the clamp (31).
(h) Remove the bolt (26) from the clamp (27).
(i) Remove the bolt (25) from the clamp (28).
(j) Remove the bolt (37) from the clamp (36).
(k) Remove the bolt (41) from the clamp (42).
(5) Cut and remove the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) around the engine wiring harnesses.
(6) Removal of the bracket assemblies:
(a) Removal of the bracket assembly (46):
1 Remove the five nuts (48) and the five bolts (45) that attach the bracket assembly (46) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47).
2 Remove the bracket assembly (46).
(b) Removal of the bracket assembly (43):
1 Remove the four nuts (50) and the four bolts (44) that attach the bracket assembly (43) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47).
2 Remove the bracket assembly (43).
(7) Remove and discard the fireproof block (49).
(8) Remove the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) from the 38 clips (3) along its routing.
(9) Carefully remove the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) from the engine.
(10) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and disconnected connectors.
(1) Remove the segment shroud 2 (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
(2) Remove the segment shroud 5 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
(3) Disconnection of the HJ8A engine wiring harness (4158KS) (1): NOTE: If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to disconnect the electrical connectors.
(a) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the EEC channel A J8 receptacle (4601KS1) (5) (at the 2 o'clock position). (b) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fan overheat temperature sensor 1 channel A receptacle (4250KS1) (12) (at the 12 o'clock position).
(c) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the Fuel Return Valve (FRV) channel A receptacle (4018KS) (13) (at the 10 o'clock position).
(d) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fan overheat temperature sensor 2 channel A receptacle (4250KS2) (14) (at the 6 o'clock position).
(e) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the Transient Bleed Valve (TBV) (4164KS) (24) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(f) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the start bleed valve (4161KS) (23) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(g) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) Active Clearance Control (ACC) (4025KS) (33) (at the 11 o'clock position).
(h) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) Active Clearance Control (4162KS) (ACC) (34) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
(i) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the T3 sensor channel A (4084KS1) (35) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
(j) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the turbine center frame accelerometer (4187KS) (38) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(k) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the T48 harness (left) (4168KS1) (39) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
(l) Disconnect the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fuel temperature transducer (4910KS) (40) (at the 3:30 o'clock position).
(m) Remove the two bolts (10) that attach the connector socket (8) to the bracket (9).
(n) Disconnect the connector socket (8) from the HJ8B engine wiring harness connector (11) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(4) Removal of the bolts from the clamps that attach to the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1):
(a) Remove the bolt (6) from the clamp (7).
(b) Remove the bolt (16) from the clamp (15).
(c) Remove the bolt (17) from the clamp (18).
(d) Remove the bolt (19) from the clamp (22).
(e) Remove the bolt (20) from the clamp (21).
(f) Remove the bolt (29) from the clamp (32).
(g) Remove the bolt (30) from the clamp (31).
(h) Remove the bolt (26) from the clamp (27).
(i) Remove the bolt (25) from the clamp (28).
(j) Remove the bolt (37) from the clamp (36).
(k) Remove the bolt (41) from the clamp (42).
(5) Cut and remove the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) around the engine wiring harnesses.
(6) Removal of the bracket assemblies:
(a) Removal of the bracket assembly (46):
1 Remove the five nuts (48) and the five bolts (45) that attach the bracket assembly (46) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47).
2 Remove the bracket assembly (46).
(b) Removal of the bracket assembly (43):
1 Remove the four nuts (50) and the four bolts (44) that attach the bracket assembly (43) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47).
2 Remove the bracket assembly (43).
(7) Remove and discard the fireproof block (49).
(8) Remove the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) from the 38 clips (3) along its routing.
(9) Carefully remove the HJ8A engine wiring harness (1) from the engine.
(10) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and disconnected connectors.
