BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

Segment Shroud 1 - PRE LEAP-1A SB 72-0232Subtask 72-24-01-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 72-24-01-010-054-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 72-24-01-010-055-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

A. Removal of Segment Shroud 1
(1) Remove segment shroud 1 (1) as follows:

(a) Remove the bolt (37) that attaches the segment shroud 1 (1) to the shroud junction fitting (35).

(b) Remove the six bolts (3) that attach VBV duct 1 (5) to the segment shroud 1 (1).
(c) Remove the eight bolts (8) that attach segment shroud 1 (1) to strut 1 (7) and segment shroud 2 (6).
(d) Remove the three bolts (2) that attach segment shroud 1 (1) to the fan hub frame (4)
(e) Remove segment shroud 1 (1) radially out from the engine.
(f) Remove the VBV duct 1 (5) from the fan hub frame (4).

(a) Remove the bolt (37) that attaches the segment shroud 1 (1) to the shroud junction fitting (35).

(e) Remove segment shroud 1 (1) radially out from the engine.
(f) Remove the VBV duct 1 (5) from the fan hub frame (4).
B. Removal of Segment Shroud 2
(1) Remove segment shroud 2 (6) as follows:

(a) Remove the two bolts (47) that attach the segment shroud 2 (6) to the two shroud junction fittings (35).

(b) Remove the two screws (13) that attach the bracket (16) to segment shroud 2 (6).
(c) Remove the two screws (14) that attach the bracket (17) to segment shroud 2 (6).
(d) Remove the 12 bolts (11) that attach VBV duct 2 (9) and VBV duct 3 (15) to segment shroud 2 (6).
(e) Remove the eight bolts (10) that attach segment shroud 2 (6) to segment shroud 1 (1) and segment shroud 3 (18).
(f) Remove the six bolts (12) that attach segment shroud 2 (6) to the fan hub frame (4).
(g) Remove segment shroud 2 (6) radially out from the engine.
(h) Remove the VBV duct 3 (15) and VBV duct 9 (2) from the fan hub frame (4).

(a) Remove the two bolts (47) that attach the segment shroud 2 (6) to the two shroud junction fittings (35).

(c) Remove the two screws (14) that attach the bracket (17) to segment shroud 2 (6).
(d) Remove the 12 bolts (11) that attach VBV duct 2 (9) and VBV duct 3 (15) to segment shroud 2 (6).
(e) Remove the eight bolts (10) that attach segment shroud 2 (6) to segment shroud 1 (1) and segment shroud 3 (18).
(f) Remove the six bolts (12) that attach segment shroud 2 (6) to the fan hub frame (4).
(g) Remove segment shroud 2 (6) radially out from the engine.
(h) Remove the VBV duct 3 (15) and VBV duct 9 (2) from the fan hub frame (4).
C. Removal of Segment Shroud 3
(1) Remove segment shroud 3 (18) as follows:

(a) Remove the bolt (49) that attaches the segment shroud 3 (18) to the shroud junction fitting (35).

(b) Remove the six bolts (21) that attach segment shroud 3 (18) to VBV duct 4 (19).
(c) Remove the eight bolts (22) that attach segment shroud 3 (18) to segment shroud 2 (6) and strut 5 (23).
(d) Remove the three bolts (20) that attach segment shroud 3 (18) to the fan hub frame (4).
(e) Remove segment shroud 3 (18) radially out from the engine.

(a) Remove the bolt (49) that attaches the segment shroud 3 (18) to the shroud junction fitting (35).

(c) Remove the eight bolts (22) that attach segment shroud 3 (18) to segment shroud 2 (6) and strut 5 (23).
(d) Remove the three bolts (20) that attach segment shroud 3 (18) to the fan hub frame (4).
(e) Remove segment shroud 3 (18) radially out from the engine.
D. Removal of Segment Shroud 4
(1) Remove segment shroud 4 (30) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (50) and P clamp (43) that attach the harness (52) to the segment shroud 4 (30).
(b) Remove the two screws (26) that attach the bracket (25) to segment shroud 4 (30).
(c) Remove the six bolts (28) that attach segment shroud 4 (30) to VBV duct 5 (31).
(d) Remove the eight bolts (29) that attach segment shroud 4 (30) to strut 5 (23) and strut 6 (24).
(e) Remove the three bolts (27) that attach segment shroud 4 (30) to the fan hub frame (4).
(f) Remove segment shroud 4 (30) radially out from the engine.
(g) Remove the VBV duct 5 (31) from the fan hub frame (4).
Subtask 72-24-01-020-062-A (1) Remove segment shroud 4 (30) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (50) and P clamp (43) that attach the harness (52) to the segment shroud 4 (30).
(b) Remove the two screws (26) that attach the bracket (25) to segment shroud 4 (30).
(c) Remove the six bolts (28) that attach segment shroud 4 (30) to VBV duct 5 (31).
(d) Remove the eight bolts (29) that attach segment shroud 4 (30) to strut 5 (23) and strut 6 (24).
(e) Remove the three bolts (27) that attach segment shroud 4 (30) to the fan hub frame (4).
(f) Remove segment shroud 4 (30) radially out from the engine.
(g) Remove the VBV duct 5 (31) from the fan hub frame (4).
E. Removal of Segment Shroud 5
(1) Remove segment shroud 5 (39) as follows:
(a) Remove the 8 bolts (44) that attach the ACC inlet duct (36) to the segment shroud 5 (39).
(b) Remove the 18 bolts (33) that attach segment shroud 5 (39) to VBV duct 8 (42), VBV duct 7 (41) and VBV duct 6 (40).
(c) Remove the eight bolts (32) that attach segment shroud 5 (39) to strut 1 (7) and strut 6 (24).
(d) Remove the eight bolts (34) that attach segment shroud 5 (39) to the fan hub frame (4).
(e) Remove segment shroud 5 (39) with the attached ACC inlet duct (36) radially out from the engine.
(f) Remove the VBV duct 8 (42) and VBV duct 7 (41) from the fan hub frame (4).
Subtask 72-24-01-420-060-A (1) Remove segment shroud 5 (39) as follows:
(a) Remove the 8 bolts (44) that attach the ACC inlet duct (36) to the segment shroud 5 (39).
(b) Remove the 18 bolts (33) that attach segment shroud 5 (39) to VBV duct 8 (42), VBV duct 7 (41) and VBV duct 6 (40).
(c) Remove the eight bolts (32) that attach segment shroud 5 (39) to strut 1 (7) and strut 6 (24).
(d) Remove the eight bolts (34) that attach segment shroud 5 (39) to the fan hub frame (4).
(e) Remove segment shroud 5 (39) with the attached ACC inlet duct (36) radially out from the engine.
(f) Remove the VBV duct 8 (42) and VBV duct 7 (41) from the fan hub frame (4).
F. Installation of the Protective Covers and Protective Caps
(1) Install all COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
