Installation of the Transient Bleed Valve (TBV)


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 75-33-05-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 75-33-05-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Transient Bleed Valve (TBV)
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Clean the component and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interface and the adjacent area.
   (4) Install the TBV (1) on the air tube (7) and the air tube (11) as follows:
     (a) Install the new EIPC 75-11-00-10-260 SEAL (6) and the new EIPC 75-11-00-10-260 SEAL (15) on the TBV (1).
     (b) Put the TBV (1) in position between the air tube (7) and the air tube (11).
     (c) Hold the TBV (1) and install the V-band coupling (8) that attaches the TBV (1) to the air tube (7) hand-tight.
     (d) Install the V-band coupling (14) that attaches the TBV (1) to the air tube (11) hand-tight.

     (e) TORQUE the V-band coupling (8) and the V-band coupling (14) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
T.
   (5) TORQUE the V-band coupling (17) that attaches the air tube (11) to the air tube (19) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )

   (6) TORQUE the V-band coupling (16) that attaches the air tube (11) to the air tube (18) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )

   (7) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the four bolts (13).
   (8) Tighten the four bolts (13) that attach the air tube (7) to the bracket (12).
     (a) TORQUE the four bolts (13) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the four bolts (10).
   (10) Install the four bolts (10) that attach the air tube (11) to the bracket (9).
     (a) TORQUE the four bolts (10) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN ) T.

   (11) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the two bolts (20).
   (12) Install the two bolts (20) that attach the air tube (11) to the bracket (21).
     (a) TORQUE the two bolts (20) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN ) T.
   (13) TORQUE the V-band coupling (8) and the V-band coupling (14) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
T.
   (14) TORQUE the V-band coupling (17) that attaches the air tube (11) to the air tube (19) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
T.

   (15) Connect the fuel manifold (2) to the C2 fitting of the TBV (1).
     (a) Triple torque the fuel manifold (2) as follows:
       1 TORQUE the fuel manifold (2) B-nut to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
       2 Loosen the fuel manifold (2) B-nut until it is free-running.
       3 TORQUE the fuel manifold (2) B-nut to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
       4 TORQUE the fuel manifold (2) B-nut again to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
   (16) Connect the fuel manifold (3) B-nut to the C1 fitting of the TBV (1).
     (a) Triple torque the fuel manifold (3) B-nut as follows:
       1 TORQUE the fuel manifold (3) B-nut to between 540 and 460 lbf.in (6.10 and 5.20 m.daN )
T.
       2 Loosen the fuel manifold (3) B-nut until it is free-running.
       3 TORQUE the fuel manifold (3) B-nut to between 540 and 460 lbf.in (6.10 and 5.20 m.daN )
T.
       4 TORQUE the fuel manifold (3) B-nut again to between 540 and 460 lbf.in (6.10 and 5.20 m.daN )
T.
   (17) Connect the drain tube (4) B-nut to the TBV (1).
     (a) TORQUE the drain tube (4) B-nut to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
   (18) Installation of the safety cable:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Install CP8006safety cable 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. 0.8 mm (0.0315 in.) on the fuel manifold (2) B-nut and the fuel manifold (3) B-nut.
   (19) Connect the HJ8A harness electrical connector (5) to the TBV (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804). Tighten the coupling ring. If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
5. Close-up

   (1) Do the actuators test (menu mode) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-802).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
