Installation of the Sharklet
WARNING:

- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the slats and flaps control lever.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps, slats, navigation or strobe lights.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems:
(5) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) is (are) in position.
(6) Make sure that the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
Subtask 57-31-23-010-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the slats and flaps control lever.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps, slats, navigation or strobe lights.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems:
- On the ground service panels
- On the overhead panel, on the HYD section of panel 40VU.
(5) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) is (are) in position.
(6) Make sure that the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 6M (20 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable sharklet, zone 560 (660).
(2) Make sure that access panel 575KB ( 675KB) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005).
(a) Make sure that the aileron is locked in high position with 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR.
(3) Make sure that access panel 575MB ( 675MB) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005).
(4) Make sure that access panels 534BB ( 634BB) and 534DB ( 634DB) are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-23-000-802).
(5) Make sure that access panel 560AB ( 660AB) is removed:
(a) If you use KSK1194 SHARKLET TORQUE KIT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(b) If you use KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
Subtask 57-31-23-865-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 6M (20 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable sharklet, zone 560 (660).
(2) Make sure that access panel 575KB ( 675KB) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005).
(a) Make sure that the aileron is locked in high position with 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR.
(3) Make sure that access panel 575MB ( 675MB) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-005).
(4) Make sure that access panels 534BB ( 634BB) and 534DB ( 634DB) are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-23-000-802).
(5) Make sure that access panel 560AB ( 660AB) is removed:
(a) If you use KSK1194 SHARKLET TORQUE KIT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(b) If you use KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
NOTE: If you use KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT the removal of the fuel is not necessary.
(c) Make sure that the 98D57004049000 PROTECTOR MANHOLE is installed on access panel 560AB (660AB). C. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

Subtask 57-31-23-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Remove the remaining sealant with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC from the top surface of the sharklet and the wing structure interface.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the interfaces of the sharklet and the wing structure.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) If the barrel nuts of the bolts (50) are removed:
(6) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 57-31-23-280-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the remaining sealant with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC from the top surface of the sharklet and the wing structure interface.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the interfaces of the sharklet and the wing structure.
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) If the barrel nuts of the bolts (50) are removed:
- Install the barrel nuts of the bolts (50) in the sharklet.
(6) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
B. Test
(1) Do a test on the air in the wing RIB 26 to RIB 27 section with the INDICATOR - GAS COMBUSTIBLE:
(3) If the fuel gas concentration is more than 3% of the LEL, blow clean, filtered air from an AIR SOURCE 0.3 TO 0.7 BAR (5 TO 10 PSI)- FILTERED, DRY through the applicable area.
(a) Wait for one hour and measure the fuel gas concentration in the applicable area again:
Subtask 57-31-23-420-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do a test on the air in the wing RIB 26 to RIB 27 section with the INDICATOR - GAS COMBUSTIBLE:
- To measure the fuel gas concentration.
(3) If the fuel gas concentration is more than 3% of the LEL, blow clean, filtered air from an AIR SOURCE 0.3 TO 0.7 BAR (5 TO 10 PSI)- FILTERED, DRY through the applicable area.
(a) Wait for one hour and measure the fuel gas concentration in the applicable area again:
- If the fuel gas concentration is less than 3% of the LEL (or less than the Local Regulatory-Authority limit), continue with the installation procedure.
C. Installation of the Sharklet
(1) Make sure that the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET is in position on the sharklet.
(2) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet as follow:
(a) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet .
(b) Install the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66) on the sharklet.
(c) TORQUE the bolts (64) to between 2.2 and 1.8 m.N (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )
.
(d) Install the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68) on the sharklet.
(e) TORQUE the bolts (67) to between 4.4 and 3.6 m.N (38.94 and 31.86 lbf.in )
.
(4) Install the bracket (22) with the bolts (21) and the nuts (20).
(5) Install the bracket (37) with the bolts (35) and the nuts (34).
(6) TORQUE the bolts (21) and (35) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in )
.
(7) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (54).
(8) Install the bracket (23) with the bolt (25) and the washer (24) on the bracket (22).
(9) Tighten the bolt (25).
(10) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (52).
(11) Install the bracket (38) with the bolt (36).
(12) Tighten the bolt (36).
(13) Install the bolt (19), the washer (18), the spacer (17) and the nut (16).
(14) Make sure that the spacer (17) touches the head of the shear pin (54).
(15) Install the bolt (30), the washer (31), the spacer (32) and the nut (33).
(16) Make sure that the spacer (32) touches the head of the shear pin (52).
(17) Make sure that the head of the shear pins (52) and (54) are flush with the RIB 27.
(18) Tighten the bolts (19) and (30).
(19) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to lift the sharklet by five degrees.
(20) Adjust the sharklet.
(21) Align and install the bolts (50) and the washers (51).
(22) Install the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE on the heads of the bolts (50).
(23) If it is more than two hours since you did the check of the fuel gas concentration:
(25) TORQUE the bolts (50) to between 9.0 and 8.0 m.daN (66.37 and 59.00 lbf.ft )
with the KSK1194 SHARKLET TORQUE KIT or the KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT in the correct sequence.
(a) Do the step (25) again until all the bolts (50) are correctly installed.
(26) Install the lower seal (53) linearly from the aft, make sure that the lower seal (53) does not bend.
(27) Remove the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE from the heads of the bolts (50).
(28) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) on the heads of the bolts (50).
(29) Install the angle support (42) with the bolts (44) and the washers (43).
(30) Tighten the bolts (44).
(31) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(32) Install the bonding straps (6) and (8) with the bolts (5), (7), (9) and (10).
(33) TORQUE the bolts (5), (7), (9) and (10) to between 0.9 and 0.8 m.daN (79.65 and 70.80 lbf.in )
.
(34) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(35) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) in the clearance between the sharklet and the wing structure.
(a) Make sure that you do not apply an adhesion promoter.
(36) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(37) Connect the connector (1).
(38) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET from the sharklet as follow:
(a) Remove the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68).
(b) Remove the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66).
(c) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET.
(39) Remove the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET.
Subtask 57-31-23-420-051-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET is in position on the sharklet.
(2) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet as follow:
(a) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet .
(b) Install the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66) on the sharklet.
(c) TORQUE the bolts (64) to between 2.2 and 1.8 m.N (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )
.(d) Install the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68) on the sharklet.
(e) TORQUE the bolts (67) to between 4.4 and 3.6 m.N (38.94 and 31.86 lbf.in )
.WARNING:
SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Hold the sharklet with the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET and lower the sharklet by five degrees. (4) Install the bracket (22) with the bolts (21) and the nuts (20).
(5) Install the bracket (37) with the bolts (35) and the nuts (34).
(6) TORQUE the bolts (21) and (35) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in )
. (7) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (54).
(8) Install the bracket (23) with the bolt (25) and the washer (24) on the bracket (22).
(9) Tighten the bolt (25).
(10) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (52).
(11) Install the bracket (38) with the bolt (36).
(12) Tighten the bolt (36).
(13) Install the bolt (19), the washer (18), the spacer (17) and the nut (16).
(14) Make sure that the spacer (17) touches the head of the shear pin (54).
(15) Install the bolt (30), the washer (31), the spacer (32) and the nut (33).
(16) Make sure that the spacer (32) touches the head of the shear pin (52).
(17) Make sure that the head of the shear pins (52) and (54) are flush with the RIB 27.
(18) Tighten the bolts (19) and (30).
(19) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to lift the sharklet by five degrees.
(20) Adjust the sharklet.
(21) Align and install the bolts (50) and the washers (51).
(22) Install the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE on the heads of the bolts (50).
(23) If it is more than two hours since you did the check of the fuel gas concentration:
- Measure the fuel gas concentration in the applicable area again
- Make sure that the fuel gas concentration is less than 3% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL).
(25) TORQUE the bolts (50) to between 9.0 and 8.0 m.daN (66.37 and 59.00 lbf.ft )
with the KSK1194 SHARKLET TORQUE KIT or the KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT in the correct sequence. (a) Do the step (25) again until all the bolts (50) are correctly installed.
(26) Install the lower seal (53) linearly from the aft, make sure that the lower seal (53) does not bend.
(27) Remove the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE from the heads of the bolts (50).
(28) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) on the heads of the bolts (50).
(29) Install the angle support (42) with the bolts (44) and the washers (43).
(30) Tighten the bolts (44).
(31) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(32) Install the bonding straps (6) and (8) with the bolts (5), (7), (9) and (10).
(33) TORQUE the bolts (5), (7), (9) and (10) to between 0.9 and 0.8 m.daN (79.65 and 70.80 lbf.in )
. (34) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(35) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) in the clearance between the sharklet and the wing structure.
(a) Make sure that you do not apply an adhesion promoter.
(36) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(37) Connect the connector (1).
(38) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET from the sharklet as follow:
(a) Remove the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68).
(b) Remove the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66).
(c) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET.
(39) Remove the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET.
C. Installation of the Sharklet
(1) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) on the flat mating surfaces of RIB27 and the sharklet.
(2) Make sure that the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET is in position on the sharklet.
(3) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet as follow:
(a) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet.
(b) Install the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66) on the sharklet.
(c) TORQUE the bolts (64) to between 2.2 and 1.8 m.N (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )

(d) Install the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68) on the sharklet.
(e) TORQUE the bolts (67) to between 4.4 and 3.6 m.N (38.94 and 31.86 lbf.in )
.
(5) Install the bracket (22) with the bolts (21) and the nuts (20).
(6) Install the bracket (37) with the bolts (35) and the nuts (34).
(7) Tighten the nuts (20) and (34).
(8) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (54).
(9) Install the bracket (23) with the washer (24) and the bolt (25) on the bracket (22).
(10) Tighten the bolt (25).
(11) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (52).
(12) Install the bracket (38) with the bolt (36) on the bracket (37).
(13) Tighten the bolt (36).
(14) Install the bolt (19), the washer (18), the spacer (17) and the nut (16).
(15) Make sure that the spacer (17) touches the head of the shear pin (54).
(16) Install the bolt (30), the washer (31), the spacer (32) and the nut (33).
(17) Make sure that the spacer (32) touches the head of the shear pin (52).
(18) Make sure that the heads of the shear pins (52) and (54) are flush with RIB27.
(19) Tighten the nuts (16) and (33).
(20) Lift the sharklet by five degrees with the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET.
(21) Adjust the sharklet.
(22) Align and install the bolts (50) and the washers (51).
(23) Install the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE on the heads of the bolts (50).
(24) If it is more than two hours since you did the check of the fuel gas concentration:
(a) Measure the fuel gas concentration in the applicable area again.
(b) Make sure that the fuel gas concentration is less than 3% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL).
(25) Make sure that the torque measurement device is in position with the KSK1194 SHARKLET TORQUE KIT or the KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT.
(26) TORQUE the bolts (50) to between 90 and 80 m.N (66.37 and 59.00 lbf.ft )
with the KSK1194 SHARKLET TORQUE KIT or the KSK1194A TORQUE TOOL KIT in the correct sequence.
(a) Do the step (26) again until all the bolts (50) are correctly installed.
(27) Install the lower seal (53) as follows:
(a) Clean the surface between the sharklet and the wing structure (zone A) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Naphta based and Alcohol - (Material No.08BBC1) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(b) If necessary, lubricate the lower seal (53) with the Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) .
(c) Install the lower seal (53) linearly from the rear spar to the front spar.
(d) Make sure that the lower seal (53) does not bend.
(e) Measure overlaps X1 and X2 between the lower seal (53) and the adjacent structure.
(f) Make sure that overlap X1 is 50 mm (1.97 in.).
(g) Make sure that overlaps X2 are 5 mm (0.20 in.).
(28) Remove the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE from the heads of the bolts (50).
(29) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) on the heads of the bolts (50).
(30) Install the angle support (42) with the washers (43) and the bolts (44).
(31) Tighten the bolts (44).
(32) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(33) Install the bonding straps (6) and (8) with the bolts (5), (7), (9) and (10).
(34) TORQUE the bolts (5), (7), (9) and (10) to between 9 and 8 m.N (79.65 and 70.80 lbf.in )
.
(35) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(36) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) in the clearance between the sharklet and the wing structure. Do not apply an adhesion promoter or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on zone A.
(37) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(38) Connect the connector (1).
(39) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET from the sharklet as follow:
(a) Remove the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68).
(b) Remove the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66).
(c) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET.
(40) Remove the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET.
(41) Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron.
(42) Lower the aileron.
Subtask 57-31-23-220-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) on the flat mating surfaces of RIB27 and the sharklet.
(2) Make sure that the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET is in position on the sharklet.
(3) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet as follow:
(a) Install the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET on the sharklet.
(b) Install the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66) on the sharklet.
(c) TORQUE the bolts (64) to between 2.2 and 1.8 m.N (19.47 and 15.93 lbf.in )
.(d) Install the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68) on the sharklet.
(e) TORQUE the bolts (67) to between 4.4 and 3.6 m.N (38.94 and 31.86 lbf.in )

SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) Hold the sharklet with the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET and lower it by five degrees.(5) Install the bracket (22) with the bolts (21) and the nuts (20).
(6) Install the bracket (37) with the bolts (35) and the nuts (34).
(7) Tighten the nuts (20) and (34).
(8) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (54).
(9) Install the bracket (23) with the washer (24) and the bolt (25) on the bracket (22).
(10) Tighten the bolt (25).
(11) Use the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET to align the sharklet with the wing and install the shear pin (52).
(12) Install the bracket (38) with the bolt (36) on the bracket (37).
(13) Tighten the bolt (36).
(14) Install the bolt (19), the washer (18), the spacer (17) and the nut (16).
(15) Make sure that the spacer (17) touches the head of the shear pin (54).
(16) Install the bolt (30), the washer (31), the spacer (32) and the nut (33).
(17) Make sure that the spacer (32) touches the head of the shear pin (52).
(18) Make sure that the heads of the shear pins (52) and (54) are flush with RIB27.
(19) Tighten the nuts (16) and (33).
(20) Lift the sharklet by five degrees with the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET.
(21) Adjust the sharklet.
(22) Align and install the bolts (50) and the washers (51).
(23) Install the 98D57304001000 GRID TORQUE NUT or the 98D57304001001 GRID NUT TORQUE on the heads of the bolts (50).
(24) If it is more than two hours since you did the check of the fuel gas concentration:
(a) Measure the fuel gas concentration in the applicable area again.
(b) Make sure that the fuel gas concentration is less than 3% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL).

(38) Connect the connector (1).
(39) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET from the sharklet as follow:
(a) Remove the bolts (67) and the swivel hoist ring (68).
(b) Remove the bolts (64) and the swivel hoist rings (65) and (66).
(c) Remove the 98D57304002000 HOIST SHARKLET.
(40) Remove the 98D57304003000 PROTECTOR - SHARKLET.
(41) Remove the 98D27104005000 AILERON COLLAR from the aileron.
(42) Lower the aileron.
D. Check of Clearances
(1) Do a check of the clearances and the skin offsets with a standard measurement tool.
(a) Make sure that the standard measurement tool (a calliper for example) has a precision of one millimeter or less.
(2) Measure clearance G between the upper and lower skin panels and the aileron.
(3) Make sure that clearance G is between 3 mm (0.12 in.) and 4 mm (0.16 in.).
(4) If clearance G is not in the limits, cut the upper and lower skin panels at zone B as necessary.
(5) If you cut the upper and lower skin panels, paint them again SRM 517512.
(6) Measure clearances C between the seals (65) and the sharklet.
(7) Make sure that clearances C are 0 +0 mm or +0.5 mm (0 +0 in. or +0.02 in.).
(8) If clearances C are not in the limits, adjust the seals (65) as follows:
(a) Loosen the bolts (64).
(b) Adjust the position of the seals (65).
(c) TORQUE the bolts (64) to between 3.0 and 2.5 m.N (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.in )
.
(9) Measure clearances D between the aileron and the upper and lower skin panels.
(10) Make sure that clearances D are 11 -1.5 mm or +1.5 mm (0.43 -0.06 in. or +0.06 in.).
(11) Measure skin offsets E between the sharklet and the upper and lower skin panels.
(12) Make sure that skin offtsets E are 0 -1.6 mm or +1.6 mm (0 -0.06 in. or +0.06 in.).
(13) Measure skin offstets F between the sharklet and the upper and lower skin panels.
(14) Make sure that skin offsets F are 0 -1.8 mm or +1.8 mm (0 -0.07 in. or +0.07 in.).
(15) Measure clearance A between the aileron and the outboard kink station.
(16) Make sure that clearance A is 0 -2.0 mm or +2.0 mm (0 -0.08 in. or +0.08 in.).
(17) Measure clearance B between the aileron and the sharklet.
(18) Make sure that clearance B is between 1.5 mm (0.06 in.) and 5.5 mm (0.22 in.).
(19) If clearances A and B are not in the limits, contact Airbus.
Subtask 57-31-23-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do a check of the clearances and the skin offsets with a standard measurement tool.
