A. Preparation of the Bonding Contact Surface
(1) Preparation for bonding of a metal contact surface:
(a) Make sure that the bare area has no non-conductive protection or corrosion.
1 Remove all signs of old protection material (sealant and/or varnish) from the bonding surfaces with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC and SCOTCHBRITE.
2 Remove all signs of corrosion from the bonding surfaces with SCOTCHBRITE.
3 Remove all signs of top coat or primary paint with Abrasive-- Emery cloth - (Material No.14FAE1) grade 320 and/or BRUSH - WIRE.
(b) Make sure that the dimensions of the bare surface are 2 mm (0.08 in.) to 4 mm (0.16 in.) larger than the dimensions of the bonding contact surfaces.
(c) Clean the bonding area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove all signs of grease, oil or dust.
(2) Preparation for bonding of a composite contact surface:
(c) Do not cause damage to the composite surface.

(a) Clean the bonding area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove all signs of grease, oil or signs of dust particles from the protected surface. CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PAINT COATING WITH ABRASIVE PAPER.
(b) Remove all signs of old protection (sealant and/or varnish) from the fasteners and the composite panels with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC. (c) Do not cause damage to the composite surface.
CAUTION:
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE PAINT COATING WITH ABRASIVE PAPER.
(d) For composite part with Expanded Copper Foil (ECF) or bronze mesh, remove the paint (if necessary) from the bonding point area on the composite with a thin grade sanding disk: - Use Abrasive-- Emery cloth - (Material No.14FAE1) grade 240 or 320 and then grade 400.
