3. Job Set-up
Subtask 49-91-44-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
   (3) Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (5) Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
   (6) Make sure that the APU access doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (7) Make sure that the LIGHT control switch 11LJ is set to the on position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 49-91-44-420-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Oil Cooler
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the tubes (2) and (14) for evidence of aluminum deposits, rough surfaces or deformation. Replace the tube(s) if you find defects.
   (4) Do a visual inspection of the threads on the tube mount boss studs for, chipping, galling or deformation. Replace the oil cooler (5) if you find defects.
   (5) Remove the protective covers from the cooling fan outlet duct (16) and the new oil cooler (5).
   (6) Position the band clamp (4) on cooling fan outlet duct (16).
   (7) Position the oil cooler (5) on the mount brackets with the top flange located in the cooling fan outlet duct (16). Loosely install the four mount bolts (6).
NOTE: Do not tighten the bolts (6) at this time.
   (8) Position the band clamp (7) on the oil cooler outlet duct (8).
   (9) Locate the oil cooler outlet duct (8) and band clamp (7) on the oil cooler lower flange.
NOTE: Do not tighten the band clamps (4) and (7) at this time.
   (10) TORQUE the mount bolts (6) to between 56.0 and 51.0 lbf.in (0.63 and 0.58 m.daN ) T.
   (11) Remove the blanking caps from the tubes (2) and (14).
   (12) Apply Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.
03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) on the new AIPC 49-21-04-50-140 PACKING (3) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-140 PACKING (3) and AIPC 49-21-04-51-210 PACKING (15) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-140 PACKING (15).
   (13) Put the new packings (3) and (15) on the tubes (2) and (14).
   (14) Insert the oil tube (2) into the oil cooler and attach the packing (3) to the tube mount boss studs with the two nuts (1).
   (15) TORQUE the two nuts (1) to between 53 and 48 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.54 m.daN )
T.
   (16) Insert the oil tube (14) into the oil cooler and attach the packing (15) to the tube mount boss studs with the two nuts (13).
   (17) TORQUE the two nuts (13) to between 53 and 48 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.54 m.daN )
T.
   (18) TORQUE the band clamp nuts (4) to 18 lbf.in (0.20 m.daN )
T.
   (19) TORQUE the band clamp nuts (7) to between 21.0 and 15.0 lbf.in (0.24 and 0.17 m.daN )
T.
   (20) Attach the oil cooler outlet duct (8) to the exhaust duct (10) with the V-band clamp (9).
   (21) TORQUE the V-band clamp nut (9) to between 45 and 35 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.40 m.daN )
T.
   (22) Put the new
AIPC 49-91-44-50-020 PACKING (12) or AIPC 49-91-84-26-020 PACKING (12) on the drain plug (11).
   (23) Install the drain plug (11) on the oil cooler (5).
   (24) TORQUE the drain plug (11) to between 30 and 25 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.28 m.daN )
T.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (25) Safety the drain plug (11) with 14QFC1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES -.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Test for Leaks
   (1) Start the APU (
Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005).
   (2) Stop the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006).
   (3) Make sure that the oil level of the APU is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-004).
   (4) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (5) Examine the fan outlet duct (16), the oil cooler (5), the outlet duct (8) and the check valve connections for oil leaks.
NOTE: No leaks are permitted.
   (6) Examine the oil tubes (14) and (2) for oil leaks.
NOTE: No leaks are permitted.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration. (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
