A. Detailed Inspection of the Oxygen Masks and Visual Check of the Chemical Oxygen Generators
(2) Use the 995000-00 TOOL-MANUAL RELEASE and open the emergency-oxygen container door.
(a) Make sure that the condition indicator is yellow or pink.
1 If the condition indicator is black or blue, replace the chemical oxygen generator (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-00-920-001).
(b) Make sure that there is no damage, corrosion, cracks or tension on the outlet fitting(s).
(c) Make sure that the oxygen generator is serviceable:
(6) Examine the reservoir bags and make sure that:
(10) Put the oxygen masks into the emergency oxygen container (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).
(11) Install the emergency oxygen container (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-41-400-001).
(12) Do steps 1 thru 11 again for each emergency-oxygen container.
Subtask 35-23-00-210-064-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
(1) Remove an emergency oxygen container from its position (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-41-000-001). (2) Use the 995000-00 TOOL-MANUAL RELEASE and open the emergency-oxygen container door.
NOTE: It is permitted to use alternative tool with part number 995000.
(3) Examine the chemical oxygen generator: (a) Make sure that the condition indicator is yellow or pink.
- Read the manufacturing date on the label of the oxygen generator.
- Obey the manufacturer's instructions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLEXIBLE HOSES ARE IN THE CORRECT CONDITION. IF THEY ARE TWISTED, DAMAGED, DEFORMED OR INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, OXYGEN CANNOT FLOW THROUGH THE HOSES OR A LEAK CAN OCCUR.
(5) Examine the flexible supply hoses and make sure that they are correctly connected to the reservoir bags and the outlets of the oxygen generator. (6) Examine the reservoir bags and make sure that:
- There are no tears.
- The reservoir bags are correctly connected to the masks.
- You can read all legends.
CAUTION:
DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
(8) Do a check of the lanyards: - Strongly and shortly pull each lanyard at its mask-connection end. Make sure that the connection is satisfactory.
- Make sure that each lanyard is free and does not catch other parts of the emergency oxygen container.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FOAM PAD IS INSTALLED ON THE IGNITION ACTUATOR OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. IF THE FOAM PAD IS MISSING, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE LANYARDS WILL WIND AROUND THE IGNITION ACTUATOR AND THAT THE RELEASE PIN WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN THE MASK(S) IS(ARE) PULLED.
(a) Examine the foam pad(s) for correct installation (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-42-400-001). (10) Put the oxygen masks into the emergency oxygen container (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).
(11) Install the emergency oxygen container (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-41-400-001).
