A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the emergency oxygen system.
   (4) Make sure that the emergency oxygen container, oxygen masks and oxygen generator are put on the flat surface with clean and soft cover.
   (5) Examine the oxygen masks and the supply hoses for serviceable condition (Ref. AMM TASK 35-23-00-720-003).

4. Procedure

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the safety ring/pin with the warning flag (9) is installed.
   (2) Make sure that the condition indicator of the oxygen generator is yellow or pink.

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Make sure that the safety pin with the warning flag (12) is correctly installed.
   (2) Make sure that the condition indicator (16) is pink.

   (1) Make sure that the pin with the warning flag(s) (9) is(are) installed.
   (2) Make sure that condition indicator of oxygen generator is pink.

B. Installation of the Oxygen Generator Type I
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
   (1) Make sure that the oxygen generator (2) to be installed has the correct P/N.
   (2) Remove and discard the used test button label.
   (3) Write these data in related space on the new test button label:
  • Date (month and year)
  • Quantity of oxygen masks
  • Oxygen mask code (7th and 8th digit of oxygen container's part number).
For part number of test button label refer to CMM of emergency oxygen container.
   (4) Attach the new test button label to the end of the test button (8).
   (5) Connect the supply hoses (4) to the outlets of outlet manifold (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-400-001).
   (6) Install the release pin (13):
     (a) Put the metallic ring (17) of one mask lanyard (7) in the eyelet of release pin (13).
     (b) Install all the remaining mask lanyards (7) with the metallic rings (17) on the release pin (13).
     (c) Push the release pin (13) into the mounting hole behind the safety pin with the warning flag (12).
   (7) Put the oxygen generator (2) in the generator mounting clamp (11).
   (8) Turn the oxygen generator (2) until you can see the HOT-label.
   (9) Turn the release pin (13) into a vertical position until its eyelet points out of the container.
   (10) Make sure that masks lanyards (7) are not wound around firing pin housing (15).
   (11) Push the end of the oxygen generator (2) with the firing pin (18) into the hole of the foam pad (14).
   (12) Check of the foam pad (14) for the correct installation:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FOAM PAD IS INSTALLED ON THE IGNITION ACTUATOR OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. IF THE FOAM PAD IS MISSING, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE LANYARDS WILL WIND AROUND THE IGNITION ACTUATOR AND THAT THE RELEASE PIN WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN THE MASK(S) IS(ARE) PULLED.
     (a) Make sure that the foam pad (14) is correctly installed around the ignition actuator assembly.
   (13) TORQUE the screw (10) to between 0.11 and 0.09 m.daN (9.73 and 7.96 lbf.in ) T.
WARNING: AFTER YOU INSTALL THE GENERATORS IN THE EMERGENCY OXYGEN CONTAINERS, REMOVE THE SAFETY RINGS OR SAFETY PINS FROM THE GENERATORS. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE GENERATORS WILL NOT OPERATE.
   (14) Carefully remove the safety pin with the warning flag (12) only if the release pin (13) is installed.
   (15) Install each mask lanyard (7) with its free loop end on the snap hook (6) of related mask (5).
   (16) Put the masks (5) into the emergency oxygen container (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).
Subtask 35-21-42-420-051-M ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Oxygen Generator in the Emergency Oxygen Container Type I
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
   (1) Wear GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN when you work on the oxygen system.
   (2) Make sure that the oxygen generator (7) to be installed has the correct P/N.
   (3) Remove and discard the used test button label (14).
   (4) Write the date (month, year) in the space of the new test button label (14).
For part number of test button label (14) refer to CMM of emergency oxygen container.
   (5) Attach the new test button label (14) to the end of the test button (8).
   (6) Install the supply hoses (4) on the outlets of the outlet manifold (13) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-400-001).
   (7) Install the oxygen generator (7) in the emergency oxygen container (12):
NOTE: The correct position of the oxygen generator is related to the container type:
  • For a neutral or a LH type, the actuator with the pull pin must point to the left.
  • For a RH type, the actuator with the pull pin must point to the right.
     (a) Put the oxygen generator (7) in its installation position.
     (b) Turn the oxygen generator (7) until you can see the HOT-label.
     (c) TORQUE the screw (5) to between 0.12 and 0.1 m.daN (10.62 and 8.85 lbf.in ) T.
   (8) Install the release pin (11):
     (a) Install the release pin (11) together with lanyards (1) into the mounting hole of the firing pin (2).
NOTE: One mask lanyard must be installed in the eyelet of the release pin. The remaining mask lanyards must be installed on the release pin.
   (9) Make sure that the eyelet of the release pin (11) points out of the oxygen container (12).
WARNING: AFTER YOU INSTALL THE GENERATORS IN THE EMERGENCY OXYGEN CONTAINERS, REMOVE THE SAFETY RINGS OR SAFETY PINS FROM THE GENERATORS. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE GENERATORS WILL NOT OPERATE.
   (10) Carefully remove the safety pin with the warning flag (9) from the firing pin (2).
   (11) Make sure that the foam pad (10) is correctly installed.
   (12) Put the mask assemblies (3) into the emergency oxygen container (12) (
Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).

B. Installation of the Oxygen Generator
NOTE: The oxygen supply hoses have a specified length for each location in the aircraft. It is not necessary to cut the hoses.
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
   (1) Remove and discard the used test button label (16).
   (2) Write the date (month and year), the number of oxygen mask assemblies and lanyard length code (S,M,L) in the space of the new test button label (16).
NOTE: Lanyard length codes:
  • S for 254 mm (10.0000 in.)
  • M for 610 mm (24.0158 in.)
  • L for 1016 mm (40.0000 in.).
For part number of test button label (16) refer to CMM of emergency oxygen container.
   (3) Attach the new test button label (16) to the end of the test button (8).
   (4) Install the oxygen generator (7):
     (a) Put the oxygen generator (7) in its installation position in the emergency oxygen container (12).
     (b) Turn the oxygen generator (7) until you can see the HOT label, identification plate and the outlet of the outlet manifold (5).
     (c) Make sure that lanyards (1) are not wound around housing of firing pin (15).
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FOAM PAD IS INSTALLED ON THE IGNITION ACTUATOR OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. IF THE FOAM PAD IS MISSING, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE LANYARDS WILL WIND AROUND THE IGNITION ACTUATOR AND THAT THE RELEASE PIN WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN THE MASK(S) IS(ARE) PULLED.
     (d) Push the end of the oxygen generator (7) with the firing pin (15) tightly into the hole of the foam pad (11).
     (e) Make sure that the relief valve of the oxygen generator (7) points to the bottom of the emergency oxygen container (12).
     (f) Close the clamp (6) and tighten the screw (14).
   (5) Install the oxygen supply hoses (4) on the outlets of the outlet manifold (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-400-001).
   (6) For oxygen container type II:
     (a) Connect the pull flags (13) to the related snap hooks (2) of the masks (3).
   (7) Connect each lanyard (1) with its free loop end to the related snap hook (2) of mask (3).
   (8) Make sure that the eyelet of the release pin (10) points out of the oxygen container (12).
WARNING: AFTER YOU INSTALL THE GENERATORS IN THE EMERGENCY OXYGEN CONTAINERS, REMOVE THE SAFETY RINGS OR SAFETY PINS FROM THE GENERATORS. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE GENERATORS WILL NOT OPERATE.
   (9) Remove the safety ring with the warning flag (9).
     (a) Make sure that the release pin (10) is correctly installed on the firing pin (15).
     (b) Carefully remove safety ring with the warning flag (9) from the firing pin (15).
   (10) Put the masks (3) into the emergency oxygen container (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).
Subtask 35-21-42-420-051-Q ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Oxygen Generator
NOTE: The oxygen supply hoses have a specified length for each location in the aircraft. It is not necessary to cut the hoses.

   (1) Remove and discard the used test button label (16).
   (2) Write the date (month and year), the number of oxygen mask assemblies and lanyard length code (S,M,L) in the space of the new test button label (16).
NOTE: Lanyard length codes:
  • S for 254 mm (10.00 in.)
  • M for 610 mm (24.02 in.)
  • L for 1016 mm (40.00 in.).
For part number of test button label (16) refer to CMM of emergency oxygen container.
   (3) Attach the new test button label (16) to the end of the test button (8).
   (4) Install the oxygen generator (7):
     (a) Put the oxygen generator (7) in its installation position in the emergency oxygen container (12).
     (b) Turn the oxygen generator (7) until you can see the HOT label, identification plate and the outlet of the outlet manifold (5).
     (c) Make sure that the silicone rings (17) are installed on the oxygen generator (7).
     (d) Make sure that the ribbed part of each silicone rings touches the bottom of emergency oxygen container (12).
     (e) Make sure that lanyards (1) are not wound around housing of firing pin (15).
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FOAM PAD IS INSTALLED ON THE IGNITION ACTUATOR OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. IF THE FOAM PAD IS MISSING, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE LANYARDS WILL WIND AROUND THE IGNITION ACTUATOR AND THAT THE RELEASE PIN WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN THE MASK(S) IS(ARE) PULLED.
     (f) Push the end of the oxygen generator (7) with the firing pin (15) tightly into the hole of the foam pad (11).
     (g) Make sure that the relief valve of the oxygen generator (7) points to the bottom of the emergency oxygen container (12).
     (h) Close the clamp (6) and tighten the screw (14).
     (i) Make sure that the clamp (6) is installed on the silicone ring (17).
     (j) TORQUE the screw (14) to between 0.045 and 0.034 m.daN (3.98 and 3.01 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Install the oxygen supply hoses (4) on the outlets of the outlet manifold (5) (
Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-400-001).
   (6) For oxygen container type II:
     (a) Connect the pull flags (13) to the related snap hooks (2) of the masks (3).
   (7) Connect each lanyard (1) with its free loop end to the related snap hook (2) of mask (3).
   (8) Make sure that the eyelet of the release pin (10) points out of the oxygen container (12).
WARNING: AFTER YOU INSTALL THE GENERATORS IN THE EMERGENCY OXYGEN CONTAINERS, REMOVE THE SAFETY RINGS OR SAFETY PINS FROM THE GENERATORS. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE GENERATORS WILL NOT OPERATE.
   (9) Remove the safety ring with the warning flag (9).
     (a) Make sure that the release pin (10) is correctly installed on the firing pin (15).
     (b) Carefully remove safety ring with the warning flag (9) from the firing pin (15).
   (10) Put the masks (3) into the emergency oxygen container (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).
Subtask 35-21-42-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the Oxygen Generator Type II
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
   (1) Make sure that the oxygen generator (3) to be installed has the correct P/N.
   (2) Remove and discard the used test button label.
   (3) Write these data in related space on the new test button label:
  • Date (month and year)
  • Quantity of oxygen masks
  • Oxygen mask code (7th and 8th digit of oxygen container's part number).
For part number of test button label refer to CMM of emergency oxygen container.
   (4) Attach the new test button label to the end of the test button (18).
   (5) Install the mask supply tubes (9) on outlets of the outlet manifold (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-400-001).
   (6) Install the release pin (15):
     (a) Put the metallic ring of one mask lanyard (5) in the eyelet of release pin (15).
     (b) Install all the remaining mask lanyards (5) with the metallic ring on the release pin (15).
     (c) Push the release pin (15) into the mounting hole behind the safety pin with the warning flag (12).
   (7) Put the oxygen generator (3) in the generator mounting clamp (2).
   (8) Turn the oxygen generator (3) until you can see the HOT-label.
   (9) Turn the release pin (15) to a vertical position until its eyelet points out of the oxygen container (1).
   (10) Make sure that masks lanyards (5) are not wound around firing pin housing (17).
   (11) Push the end of the oxygen generator (3) with the firing pin (13) into the hole of the foam pad (14).
   (12) Check of the foam pad (14) for correct installation:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FOAM PAD IS INSTALLED ON THE IGNITION ACTUATOR OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. IF THE FOAM PAD IS MISSING, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE LANYARDS WILL WIND AROUND THE IGNITION ACTUATOR AND THAT THE RELEASE PIN WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN THE MASK(S) IS(ARE) PULLED.
     (a) Make sure that the foam pad (14) is correctly installed on the ignition actuator assembly.
   (13) Torque the screw (4) to between 0.11 and 0.09 m.daN (9.73 and 7.96 lbf.in ) T.
   (14) Connect each pull flag (7) with the snap hook (6) of related mask (8).
   (15) Connect each mask lanyard (5) with its free loop end to the snap hook (6) of related mask (8).
WARNING: AFTER YOU INSTALL THE GENERATORS IN THE EMERGENCY OXYGEN CONTAINERS, REMOVE THE SAFETY RINGS OR SAFETY PINS FROM THE GENERATORS. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE GENERATORS WILL NOT OPERATE.
   (16) Remove the safety pin with the warning flag (12) only if the release pin (15) is installed.
   (17) Put the ejector cradle (10) of the door assembly onto the oxygen generator (3)
   (18) Put the loop strip of the ejector cradle (10) into the hook portion fastener.
   (19) Put the masks (8) into the emergency oxygen container (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).

C. Installation of the Oxygen Generator in the Emergency Oxygen Container Type II
CAUTION: DO NOT PULL THE MASK LANYARD FROM THE END WITH THE RELEASE PIN. IF YOU PULL ON THIS END OF THE LANYARD, YOU WILL REMOVE THE RELEASE PIN AND START A FLOW OF OXYGEN WHICH CANNOT BE STOPPED.
   (1) Wear GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN when you work on the oxygen system.
   (2) Make sure that the oxygen generator (7) to be installed has the correct P/N.
   (3) Remove and discard the used test button label (14).
   (4) Write the date (month, year) in the space of the new test button label (14).
For part number of test button label (14) refer to CMM of emergency oxygen container.
   (5) Attach the new test button label (14) to the end of the test button (8).
   (6) Install the supply hoses (4) on the outlets of the outlet manifold (13) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-400-001).
   (7) Install the ejector strips (6) to the door of the emergency oxygen container (12).
   (8) Install the release pin (11):
     (a) Install the release pin (11) together with lanyards (1) into the mounting hole of the firing pin (16).
NOTE: One mask lanyard must be installed in the eyelet of the release pin. The remaining mask lanyard must be installed on the release pin.
   (9) Install the oxygen generator (7) in the emergency oxygen container (12):
NOTE: The correct position of the oxygen generator is related to the container type:
  • For a LH type, the actuator with the pull pin must point to the left.
  • For a RH type, the actuator with the pull pin must point to the right.
     (a) Install the spring bridle (5) into the openings of the emergency oxygen container (12).
     (b) Carefully put the oxygen generator (7) in its installation position.
     (c) Install foam pad (10):
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FOAM PAD IS INSTALLED ON THE IGNITION ACTUATOR OF THE OXYGEN GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. IF THE FOAM PAD IS MISSING, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE LANYARDS WILL WIND AROUND THE IGNITION ACTUATOR AND THAT THE RELEASE PIN WILL NOT COME OUT WHEN THE MASK(S) IS(ARE) PULLED.
       1 Make sure that lanyards (1) are not wound around housing of the firing pin (16).
       2 Install the housing of firing pin (16) into the foam pad (10).
     (d) Turn the oxygen generator (7) until you can see the HOT-label.
     (e) Attach the oxygen generator (7) with the spring bridle (5).
     (f) Put the ends of the spring bridle (5) into the holes in bottom of the emergency oxygen container (12).
   (10) If applicable, connect the pull flag(s) (15) to the related snap hook(s) (2) of the mask(s) (3).
   (11) Connect the loops of the mask lanyards (1) to the snap hook (2) of the oxygen masks (3).
   (12) Make sure that the eyelet of the release pin (11) points out of the oxygen container (12).
WARNING: AFTER YOU INSTALL THE GENERATORS IN THE EMERGENCY OXYGEN CONTAINERS, REMOVE THE SAFETY RINGS OR SAFETY PINS FROM THE GENERATORS. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THEM, THE GENERATORS WILL NOT OPERATE.
   (13) Carefully remove the safety pin with the warning flag (9) from the firing pin (2).
   (14) Put the mask assemblies (3) into the emergency oxygen container (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-43-550-801).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the emergency oxygen container (Ref. AMM TASK 35-21-41-400-001).
   (3) Make sure that there is a minimum clearance 2 +0 mm or -0.5 mm (0.0787 +0.0000 in. or -0.0197 in.) around the oxygen container door.
   (4) Make sure that the test button is flush with the door surface and the door is fully closed.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Do the operational test of the passenger oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-23-00-710-001).
Subtask 35-21-42-860-052-A
D. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of overhead panel 21VU:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
