Detailed Dimensional Check of the MLG Lockstay Assembly

Subtask 32-11-00-941-062-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) On the panel 400VU:
(4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
Subtask 32-11-00-860-053-A (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) On the panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on panel 400VU to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
(4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Open the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable main gear door actuator.
(3) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Depressurize the Green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
Subtask 32-11-00-010-068-A (1) Open the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable main gear door actuator.
(3) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Depressurize the Green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable MLG lockstay, at zone 731 or 741.
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable MLG lockstay, at zone 731 or 741.
Subtask 32-11-00-220-054-A
A. Dimensional Check of the Length of the Lockstay Actuator
(1) Do the dimensional check of the MLG lockstay actuator as follows:
(a) Make sure that the lockstay actuator is fully extended.
(b) Measure the dimension between the centers of the side stay and lockstay attachment pins of the lockstay actuator.
(c) Make sure that the dimension is 674 mm (26.54 in.) +/- 0.3 mm (0.012 in.).
(2) If necessary, adjust the length of the lockstay actuator as follows:
(a) Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the heads of the attachment pins of the lockstay actuator.
(b) Make sure that the head of the lockstay actuator and lockstay attachment pin (5) points to aft (the head of the pin (5) points to up when the landing gear is retracted).
(c) If the head of the pin (5) points to forward, do these steps:
1 Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
2 Remove and discard the cotter pin (8).
3 Remove the nut (7) and the washer (6).
4 Hold the lockstay actuator and remove the pin (5), the washer (4) and the washers (9).
6 Install the washer (6) and the nut (7). Tighten the nut (7) with your hand.
(d) Make sure that the lockstay actuator is fully extended.
(e) Put the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) in position on the lockstay actuator.
(f) Install the pins (2) and (3) through the holes in the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1).
(h) If necessary, adjust the length of the lockstay actuator until the pins (2) and (3) engage correctly:
1 Remove the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) from the lockstay actuator.
2 Remove the lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-21-000-001).
3 Adjust the lockstay actuator to the correct length. Refer toCMM 321121 .
a Install the lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-21-400-001).
4 Do steps (d) thru (g) again.
(i) Remove the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) from the lockstay actuator.
(3) If the pin (5) was removed and installed in step (2), do these steps:
(a) Remove the nut (7) and the washer (6).
(b) Hold the lockstay actuator and remove the pin (5), the washer (4) and the washers (9).
(d) Install the washer (6) and the nut (7).
(e) Use the 460006437 TOOL-HOLDING to hold the pin (5) and TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.70 and 0.46 m.daN (61.95 and 40.71 lbf.in )
.
(f) Safety the nut (7) with a new AIPC 32-11-17-01-030 COTTER PIN (8).
(g) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the nut (7).
(4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the heads of the attachment pins of the lockstay actuator.
Subtask 32-11-00-860-056-A (1) Do the dimensional check of the MLG lockstay actuator as follows:
(a) Make sure that the lockstay actuator is fully extended.
(b) Measure the dimension between the centers of the side stay and lockstay attachment pins of the lockstay actuator.
(c) Make sure that the dimension is 674 mm (26.54 in.) +/- 0.3 mm (0.012 in.).
(2) If necessary, adjust the length of the lockstay actuator as follows:
(a) Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the heads of the attachment pins of the lockstay actuator.
(b) Make sure that the head of the lockstay actuator and lockstay attachment pin (5) points to aft (the head of the pin (5) points to up when the landing gear is retracted).
(c) If the head of the pin (5) points to forward, do these steps:
1 Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
2 Remove and discard the cotter pin (8).
3 Remove the nut (7) and the washer (6).
4 Hold the lockstay actuator and remove the pin (5), the washer (4) and the washers (9).
NOTE: The weight of the lockstay stay actuator is approximately 3.3 kg (7.28 lb).
5 Install the pin (5) from the aft direction, the washer (4) and the washers (9). 6 Install the washer (6) and the nut (7). Tighten the nut (7) with your hand.
(d) Make sure that the lockstay actuator is fully extended.
(e) Put the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) in position on the lockstay actuator.
(f) Install the pins (2) and (3) through the holes in the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1).
NOTE: The pin (3) must go through the hole in the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) identified with number 30.
(g) Use the minimum force to insert the pins (2) and (3) in the attachment pins of the lockstay actuator. (h) If necessary, adjust the length of the lockstay actuator until the pins (2) and (3) engage correctly:
1 Remove the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) from the lockstay actuator.
2 Remove the lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-21-000-001).
3 Adjust the lockstay actuator to the correct length. Refer to
a Install the lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-21-400-001).
4 Do steps (d) thru (g) again.
(i) Remove the 460007262 GAUGE - CHECKING (1) from the lockstay actuator.
(3) If the pin (5) was removed and installed in step (2), do these steps:
(a) Remove the nut (7) and the washer (6).
(b) Hold the lockstay actuator and remove the pin (5), the washer (4) and the washers (9).
NOTE: The weight of the lockstay actuator is approximately 3.3 kg (7.28 lb).
(c) Install the pin (5) from the forward direction, the washer (4) and the washers (9). (d) Install the washer (6) and the nut (7).
(e) Use the 460006437 TOOL-HOLDING to hold the pin (5) and TORQUE the nut (7) to between 0.70 and 0.46 m.daN (61.95 and 40.71 lbf.in )

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(2) Close the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(3) If necessary, lower the aircraft off jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-002).
(4) Continue with the installation of the MLG side-stay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-16-400-001) or the lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-21-400-001), as necessary.
5. Close-up(1) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(2) Close the main gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
(3) If necessary, lower the aircraft off jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-002).
(4) Continue with the installation of the MLG side-stay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-16-400-001) or the lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-21-400-001), as necessary.

A. Removal of Equipment
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
