A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:
  • The Green hydraulic system
  • The Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) On panel 400VU:
     (a) Make sure that the landing gear control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (4) Make sure that the aircraft is lifted on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at zone 731 (741).
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below zone 571 (671).

A. Preparation of the Replacement MLG Side Stay Assembly
   (1) Make sure that the lockstay is safetied to the side stay assembly (3).
   (2) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY on the side stay assembly (3) with:
  • The cables to the side stay splint-assembly
  • The strap to the side stay splint-assembly
  • The center joint of the side stay in the center hole of the side stay splint-assembly.
   (3) Tighten the strap and connect the cables to the hook. Tighten the cable.

A. Preparation of the Replacement MLG Side Stay Assembly
F MLG Side Stay Assembly ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Make sure that the lockstay is safetied to the side stay assembly (3).
   (2) Install the 98D32104013002 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (B) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY or the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) on the side stay assembly (3) with:
  • The cables to the side stay splint-assembly
  • The strap to the side stay splint-assembly
  • The center joint of the side stay in the center hole of the side stay splint-assembly.
   (3) Tighten the strap and connect the cables to the hook. Tighten the cable.

B. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (5) Examine these components for corrosion, damage and wear:
  • The pin (14)
  • The bushes in the cardan joint
  • The bore of the MLG attachment lug
  • The proximity-sensors attachment brackets.
   (6) Examine the bushes in the side stay bracket for corrosion, damage and wear.
     (a) If you find corrosion, damage and wear, SRM 572613 for wear dimensions (or damage) and repair procedures.
   (7) Lubricate the components that follow with Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) :

B. Preparation for Installation

C. Installation of the MLG Side Stay Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE MLG SIDE-STAY. IT WEIGHS 62.5kg (137.5lb).
   (1) Disengage the cardan pin (28) from the side stay assembly (3) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the nut (26).
     (b) Remove the washer (24) from the bolt (20).
     (c) Hold the end caps (21) and (23) with the
460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING.
     (d) Remove the bolt (20) and the end caps (21) and (23).
     (e) Hold the side stay assembly (3) in position.
     (f) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
     (g) Remove the washers (27).
   (2) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (28).
   (3) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the threads and splines of the cardan pin (28).
   (4) Install the cardan pin (28) in the MLG attachment lugs.
   (5) Install the nut (29).
   (6) Torque the nut (29) as follows:
     (a) Use the DRT69678 LWR CARDAN SKT to TORQUE the nut (29) to between 271 and 244 m.N (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the nut (29).
     (c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
     (d) Use the
DRT69678 LWR CARDAN SKT to TORQUE the nut (29) to between 170.1 and 153.9 m.N (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft ) T .
       1 If necessary, TORQUE the nut (29) to a maximum of 203 m.N (149.70 lbf.ft) to flush the lock washer (30) with the cardan pin (28).
   (7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:
     (a) For the in-service components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
     (b) For the repaired or overhauled components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.143 mm (0.0056 in.).
     (c) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) are not in the limits, do the steps that follow:
       1 Remove the nut (29) and the cardan pin (28).
       2 Measure dimensions T and V:
  • Make sure that dimension T is between 137.917 mm (5.4298 in.) and 137.957 mm (5.4314 in.).
  • Make sure that dimension V is between 138.0 mm (5.4331 in.) and 138.06 mm (5.4354 in.).
       3 Replace the bottom cardan bushes CMM 321282 and/or the lower cardan sub-assembly CMM 321283 as necessary.
     (d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) are in the limits:
  • Remove the nut (29) and the cardan pin (28).
   (8)
   (9) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the chromium plated diameter of the cardan pin (1).
   (10) Lift the side stay assembly (3) into position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side stay bracket.
   (11) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
   (12) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads of:
  • The cardan pin (1)
  • The nut (4)
  • The lock washer (5)
  • The bolts (7).
   (13) Install the nut (4) and tighten it with your hand.
   (14) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
   (15) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the chromium plated diameter of the cardan pin (28).
   (16) Install the cardan pin (28) in the MLG attachment lugs.
   (17) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (28).
   (18) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the threads of the cardan pin (28).
   (19) Install the nut (29) and tighten it with your hand.
   (20) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (27) in position between the lugs of the side stay assembly (3).
   (21) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the external diameter of the pin (22).
   (22) Install the pin (22) as follows:
     (a) Install the pin (22).
     (b) Install the end caps (23) and (21).
     (c) Install the bolt (20), the washer (24) and the new AIPC 32-11-85-98-310 NUT (26) or the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-280 NUT (26).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (26) to between 11.5 and 9.5 m.N (101.77 and 84.07 lbf.in )
T.
     (e) Safety the nut (26) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-98-300 COTTER PIN (25) or the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-270 COTTER PIN (25).
   (23) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.
06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the head of the bolt (20) and the nut (26).
   (24) Release the lockstay from the side stay assembly (3) and extend the lockstay actuator to hold the lockstay in the open position.
   (25) Align the lockstay eye-end (16) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
   (26) Install the washer (15), the pin (14), the washer (17) and the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-160 NUT (18) or AIPC 32-11-85-96-160 NUT (18).
   (27) TORQUE the nut (18) to between 42 and 36 m.N (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )
T.
     (a) If necessary, TORQUE the nut (18) to a maximum of 42 m.N (30.97 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin holes.
   (28) Safety the nut (18) with the new
AIPC 32-11-85-97-030 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-150 COTTER PIN (19).
   (29) Disconnect the cables of the
98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY from the hook.
   (30) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
   (31) Torque the nut (4) as follows:
     (a) Push the MLG leg assembly as far as possible to the closed position.
NOTE: This will make sure that the cardan pin (1) is installed fully in the MLG leg assembly.
     (b) Use the DRT69679 UPPER CARDAN SOCKET to TORQUE the nut (4) to between 271 and 244 m.N (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft ) T.
     (c) Loosen the nut (4).
     (d) Do steps (b) and (c) two more times.
     (e) Use the
DRT69679 UPPER CARDAN SOCKET to TORQUE the nut (4) to between 203 and 162 m.N (149.70 and 119.47 lbf.ft ) T`.
   (32) Torque the nut (29) as follows:
     (a) Push the MLG leg assembly as far as possible to the closed position.
NOTE: This will make sure that the cardan pin (28) is installed fully in the MLG leg assembly.
     (b) Use the
DRT69678 LWR CARDAN SKT to TORQUE the nut (29) to between 271 and 244 m.N (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft ) T.
     (c) Loosen the nut (29).
     (d) Do steps (b) and (c) two more times.
     (e) Use the
DRT69678 LWR CARDAN SKT to TORQUE the nut (29) to between 170.1 and 153.9 m.N (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft ) T.
       1 If necessary, TORQUE the nut (29) to a maximum of 203 m.N (149.70 lbf.ft) to flush the lock washer (30) with the cardan pin (28).
   (33) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions W and X as follows:
     (a) For the in-service components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
     (b) For the repaired or overhauled components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
   (34) Align the key slot of the lock washer (5) with the chamfered slot on the nut (4) and install the lock washer (5).
   (35) Make sure that the space between the lock washer (5) and the nut (4) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) .
   (36) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the shank and the threads of the bolts (7).
   (37) Install the washers (6) and the bolts (7).
   (38) TORQUE the bolts (7) to between 10.6 and 8.2 m.N (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in ) T.
   (39) Safety the bolts (7) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (40) Align the key slot of the lock washer (30) with the chamfered slot on the nut (29) and install the lock washer (30). Make sure that the lock washer (30) is flush with the cardan pin (28).
   (41) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.
06LDG6) to the shank and the threads of the bolts (32).
   (42) Install the washers (31) and the bolts (32).
   (43) TORQUE the bolts (32) to between 11 and 9 m.N (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
   (44) Safety the bolts (31) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (45) Connect the MLG lock springs to the MLG side stay assembly (3) (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-400-003).
   (46) Connect the flexible hoses (38) and (39) as follows:
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
     (a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
     (b) Install the washers (36) and (41) on the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
     (c) Put the flexible hoses (38) and (39) on the bracket. Install the washers (35) and (42) and the nuts (34) and (43) on the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (43) to between 45.7 and 44.7 m.N (33.70 and 32.96 lbf.ft ) T.
     (e) Safety the nuts (40) and (43) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (f) TORQUE the nut (34) to between 34.4 and 33.4 m.N (25.37 and 24.63 lbf.ft )

     (g) Safety the nuts (37) and (34) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (h) Connect the hose unions (33) and (44) to the flexible hoses (38) and (39).
     (i) TORQUE the hose union (44) to between 32 and 29 m.N (23.60 and 21.39 lbf.ft )

     (j) TORQUE the hose union (33) to between 17 and 15 m.N (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )

     (k) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line

   (47) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (48) Connect the 1M harness (8) to the proximity sensor (2).
   (49) Attach the P-clips (11) to the 1M harness (8).
   (50) Put the bracket (10) and the washers (9) in position on the lockstay and install the bolts (12).
   (50) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 4.5 and 4 m.N (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in ) T.
   (51) Do the dimensional check of the proximity sensors of the side stay assembly (3) (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-200-001).
   (52) Do the detailed dimensional check of the MLG lockstay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-220-003).
   (53) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to:
  • The head of the pin (14)
  • The heads of the bolts (7), (12) and (32)
  • The nuts (18) and (29)
  • The washers (6), (9), (17) and (31)
  • The lock washer (5) and (30).
   (54) Lubricate the side stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

C. Installation of the MLG Side stay Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE MLG SIDE-STAY. IT WEIGHS 62.5kg (137.5lb).
   (1) Disengage the cardan pin (28) from the side stay assembly (3) as follows:
     (a) Remove and discard the nut (26).
     (b) Remove the washer (24) from the bolt (20).
     (c) Hold the end caps (21) and (23) with the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING.
     (d) Remove the bolt (20) and the end caps (21) and (23).
     (e) Hold the side stay assembly (3) in position.
     (f) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
     (g) Remove the washers (27).
   (2) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (28).
   (3) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the threads and splines of the cardan pin (28).
   (4) Install the cardan pin (28) in the MLG attachment lugs.
   (5) Install the nut (29).
   (6) Torque the nut (29) as follows:
     (a) Use the DRT69680 LWR CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (29) to between 420 and 380 m.N (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the nut (29).
     (c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
     (d) Use the
DRT69680 LWR CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (29) to between 360 and 162 m.N (265.49 and 119.47 lbf.ft ) T.
       1 If necessary, TORQUE the nut (29) to a maximum of 360 m.N (265.49 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin holes.
   (7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:
     (a) For the in-service components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
     (b) For the repaired or overhauled components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.143 mm (0.0056 in.).
     (c) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) are not in the limits, do the steps that follow:
       1 Remove the nut (29) and the cardan pin (28).
       2 Measure dimensions T and V:
  • Make sure that the dimension T is between 137.917 mm (5.4298 in.) and 137.957 mm (5.4314 in.).
  • Make sure that the dimension V is between 138.0 mm (5.4331 in.) and 138.06 mm (5.4354 in.).
       3 Replace the bottom cardan bushes CMM 321289 and/or the lower cardan sub-assembly CMM 321290 as necessary.
     (d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) are in the limits:
  • Remove the nut (29) and the cardan pin (28).
   (8)    (9) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the chromium plated diameter of the cardan pin (1).
   (10) Lift the side stay assembly (3) into position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side stay bracket.
   (11) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
   (12) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the threads of:
  • The cardan pin (1)
  • The nut (4)
  • The lock washer (5)
  • The bolts (7).
   (13) Install the nut (4) and tighten with your hand.
   (14) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY or the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013002 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (B).
   (15) Apply Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) to the chromium plated diameter of the cardan pin (28).
   (16) Install the cardan pin (28) in the MLG attachment lugs.
   (17) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (28).
   (18) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.06LDG6) to the threads of the cardan pin (28).
   (19) Install the nut (29) and tighten with your hand.
   (20) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (27) in position between the lugs of the side stay assembly (3).
   (21) Install the pin (22) as follows:
     (a) Install the pin (22).
     (b) Install the end caps (23) and (21).
     (c) Install the bolt (20), the washer (24) and the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-280 NUT (26) or AIPC 32-11-85-98-310 NUT (26).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (26) to between 30 and 25 m.N (22.12 and 18.44 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Safety the nut (26) with a new
AIPC 32-11-18-02-270 COTTER PIN (25) or AIPC 32-11-85-98-300 COTTER PIN (25).
   (22) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.
06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the head of the bolt (20) and the nut (26).
   (23) Release the lockstay from the side stay assembly (3) and extend the lockstay actuator to hold the lockstay in the open position.
   (24) Align the lockstay eye-end (16) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
   (25) Install the washer (15), the pin (14), the washer (17) and the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-160 NUT (18) or AIPC 32-11-85-96-160 NUT (18).
   (26) TORQUE the nut (18) to to between 42 and 36 m.N (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )
T.
     (a) If necessary, TORQUE the nut (18) to a maximum of 42 m.N (30.97 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin holes.
   (27) Safety the nut (18) with a new
AIPC 32-11-17-01-150 COTTER PIN (19) or the new AIPC 32-11-85-96-150 COTTER PIN (19).
   (28) Disconnect the cables
98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY or the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013002 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (B) from the hook.
   (29) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY or the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) or the 98D32104013002 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (B).
   (30) Torque the nut (4) as follows:
     (a) Push the MLG leg assembly as far as possible to the closed position.
NOTE: This will make sure that the cardan pin (1) is installed fully in the side stay bracket.
     (b) Use the DRT69681 UPPER CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (4) to between 271 and 244 m.N (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft ) T.
     (c) Loosen the nut (4).
     (d) Do steps (b) and (c) two more times.
     (e) Use the
DRT69681 UPPER CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (4) to between 203 and 162 m.N (149.70 and 119.47 lbf.ft ) T.
   (31) Torque the nut (29) as follows:
     (a) Push the MLG leg assembly as far as possible to the closed position.
NOTE: This will make sure that the cardan pin (28) is installed fully in the MLG leg assembly.
     (b) Use the
DRT69680 LWR CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (29) to between 420 and 380 m.N (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft ) T.
     (c) Loosen the nut (29).
     (d) Do steps (b) and (c) two more times.
     (e) Use the
DRT69680 LWR CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (29) to between 360 and 162 m.N (265.49 and 119.47 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Do not tighten the nut (29) to more than 360 m.N (265.49 lbf.ft).
     (g) Make sure that the lock washer (30) is flush with the cardan pin (28).
   (32) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions W and X as follows:
     (a) For the in-service components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
     (b) For the repaired or overhauled components:
  • Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
   (33) Align the key slot of the lock washer (5) with the chamfered slot on the nut (4).
     (a) If necessary, use the DRT69681 UPPER CARDAN SKT and TORQUE the nut (4) to between 203 and 162 m.N (149.70 and 119.47 lbf.ft ) T.
   (34) Make sure that the space between the lock washer (5) and the nut (4) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) .
   (35) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the shank and the threads of the bolts (7).
   (36) Install the washers (6) and the bolts (7).
   (37) TORQUE the bolts (7) to between 10.6 and 8.2 m.N (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in ) T.
   (38) Safety the bolts (7) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (39) Align the key slot of the lock washer (30) with the chamfered slot on the nut (29) and install the lock washer (30). Make sure that the lock washer (30) is flush with the cardan pin (28).
   (40) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Hydraulic (Material No.
06LDG6) to the shank and the threads of the bolts (32).
   (41) Install the washers (31) and the bolts (32).
   (42) TORQUE the bolts (32) to between 11 and 9 m.N (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
   (43) Safety the bolts (32) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (44) Connect the MLG lock springs at the top of the MLG side stay assembly (3) (
Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-400-003).
   (45) Connect the flexible hoses (38) and (39) as follows:

     (e) TORQUE the nut (43) to between 45.7 and 44.7 m.N (33.70 and 32.96 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Safety the nuts (40) and (43) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
     (g) TORQUE the nut (34) to between 34.4 and 33.4 m.N (25.37 and 24.63 lbf.ft )

   (52) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) or Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
  • The head of the pin (14)
  • The heads of the bolts (7), (12) and (32)
  • The nuts (18) and (29)
  • The washers (6), (9), (17) and (31)
  • The lock washers (5) and (30).
   (53) Lubricate the side stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

       2 If necessary, loosen the nuts (65) and (66) until you can align the holes for the cotter pins (67) and (68).
       3 To make sure that the nuts (65) and (66) are sufficiently tight:
         a Use the 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) GAGE - FEELER and make sure that it does not go in the space between:
  • The nut (65) and the bridge plate (63)
  • The nut (66) and the bridge plate (64).
     (d) Safety the nut (65) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-67-015 COTTER PIN (67) or AIPC 57-51-85-67-020 COTTER PIN (67).
     (e) Safety the nut (66) with the new
AIPC 57-51-05-67-010 COTTER PIN (68) or AIPC 57-51-85-67-010 COTTER PIN (68).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
