A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:
Subtask 32-11-16-860-053-A (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are installed on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is on the ground service connection to tell persons not to pressurize:
- The Green hydraulic system
- The Yellow hydraulic system.
- Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(3) Make sure that the applicable hydraulic reservoirs are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at zone 731 (741).
(5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position below zone 571 (671).
Subtask 32-11-16-869-055-A (1) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(2) Make sure that the Green and Yellow hydraulic systems are depressurized

C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If you did not open the LGCIU circuit breakers, make sure that the electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

A. Preparation for a Replacement Side-Stay Assembly
(1) Make sure that the lockstay has been safetied to the side-stay.
(2) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) on the side-stay assembly (3) with:

(2) Install the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A) on the side-stay assembly (3) with:
- The cables to the side-stay splint assembly
- The strap to the side-stay splint assembly
- The center joint of the side-stay located in the center hole of the side-stay splint assembly.
A. Preparation for a Replacement Side-Stay Assembly
(1) Make sure that the lockstay has been safetied to the side-stay.
(2) Install the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY on the side-stay assembly (3) with:
Subtask 32-11-16-420-057-B (1) Make sure that the lockstay has been safetied to the side-stay.
(2) Install the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY on the side-stay assembly (3) with:
- The cables to the side-stay splint assembly
- The strap to the side-stay splint assembly
- The center joint of the side-stay located in the center hole of the side-stay splint assembly.
B. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(5) Examine these components for corrosion, damage and wear:
(a) If you find corrosion, damage and wear, SRM 572613 for wear dimensions (or damage) and repair procedures.
(7) Lubricate with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) :
Subtask 32-11-16-420-050-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .

(7) Lubricate with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) :
- The pin (19)
- The bushes in the cardan joint
- The bushes in the side-stay bracket
- The Seal (54)
- The Bore of the MLG attachment lug.
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
C. Installation of the MLG Side-Stay Assembly
(a) Remove and discard the nut (25).
(b) Remove the washer (26) from the bolt (20).
(c) Remove the bolt (20).
(d) Remove the end caps (21) and (23).
(e) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
(f) Remove the washers (44).
(2) Install the cardan pin (31) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(3) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(4) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(5) Install the nut (30) and tighten it with your hand.
(6) Torque the nut (30) as follows:
(a) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 42 and 38 m.daN (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft )
.
(b) Loosen the nut (30).
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
(d) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 17.01 and 15.39 m.daN (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
.
(7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:
(a) For in-service components:
1 Remove the nut (30) and the cardan pin (31).
2 Measure dimensions T and V:
CMM 321222 and/or the lower cardan sub-assembly CMM 321214 , as necessary.
(d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) are in limit:
1 Remove the nut (30) and the cardan pin (31).
(8) Install the new AIPC 32-11-05-06-145 SEAL (54) in the bush (53).
(9) Lift the side-stay assembly (3) in position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side-stay bracket.
(10) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(11) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(12) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5). Tighten the nut (5) with your hand.
(13) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
(14) Install the cardan pin (31) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(15) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(16) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(17) Install the nut (30) and tighten with your hand.
(18) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (44) in position between the lugs of the lower side-stay assembly (3).
(19) Install the pin (22).
(20) Install the end caps (23) and (21).
(21) Install the bolt (20), the washer (26) and the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-280 NUT (25).
(22) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 3.0 and 2.5 m.daN (22.12 and 18.44 lbf.ft )
.
(23) Safety the bolt (20) and the nut (25) with the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-270 COTTER PIN (24).
(24) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the head of the bolt (20) and the nut (25).
(25) Release the lockstay from the side-stay and extend the lockstay actuator to hold the lockstay in the open position.
(26) Align the lockstay eye-end (17) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
(27) Install the washer (18), the pin (19), the washer (16) and the nut (14).
(28) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 4.2 and 3.6 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )
. Tighten the nut (14), not more than 4.2 m.daN (30.97 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
(29) Safety the nut (14) with the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-150 COTTER PIN (15).
(30) Disconnect the cables from the hook.
(31) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
(32) Torque the nut (5) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position. This will make sure that the cardan pin (1) is installed fully in the side-stay bracket.
(b) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 42 and 38 m.daN (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft )
.
(c) Loosen the nut (5).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 17.01 and 15.39 m.daN (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
.
(33) Torque the nut (30) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position. This will make sure that the cardan pin (31) is installed fully in the MLG leg assembly.
(b) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 42 and 38 m.daN (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft )
.
(c) Loosen the nut (30).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 17.01 and 15.39 m.daN (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
.
(34) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions W and X as follows:
(a) For in-service components:
(37) Align the key slot of the lock washer (6) with the chamfered slot on the nut (5). If necessary, use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 36.00 and 15.39 m.daN (265.49 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
.
(38) Install the lock washer (6).
(39) Make sure that the space between the lock washer (6) and the nut (5) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(40) Align the circlip (7) with the key slot of the lock washer (6) and the chamfered slot of the nut (5).
(41) Install the circlip (7) (in a counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (7) engages in the key slot of the lock washer (6).
(42) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the mating surfaces of:
(44) Align the key slot of the lock washer (29) with the chamfered slot on the nut (30) and install the lock washer (29). Make sure that the space between the lockwasher (29) and the nut (30) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(45) Install the washers (28) and the bolts (27).
(46) TORQUE the bolts (27) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in )
.
(47) Safety the bolts (27) with the14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(48) Connect the locksprings at the top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-400-003).
(49) Connect the hydraulic hoses (37) and (38) as follows:
(b) Install the washers (35) and (40) on the hoses (37) and (38).
(c) Put the hoses (37) and (38) on the bracket assembly.
(d) Install the washers (34) and (41) and the nuts (33) and (42) on the hoses (37) and (38).
(e) TORQUE the nut (42) to between 1.7 and 1.4 m.daN (12.54 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
.
(f) Safety the nuts (39) and (42) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(g) TORQUE the nut (33) to between 1.2 and 1.0 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
.
(h) Safety the nuts (36) and (33) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(i) Connect the hose unions (32) and (43) to the hoses (37) and (38).
(j) TORQUE the hose union (43) to between 2.8 and 2.4 m.daN (20.65 and 17.70 lbf.ft )

(k) TORQUE the hose union (32) to between 1.6 and 1.5 m.daN (11.80 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
.
(l) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors of the cable (8) and the proximity sensor (2). Connect the cable (8) to the proximity sensor (2).
(m) Attach the clips (10) to the cable (8).
(n) Put the bracket (9) in position on the lockstay and install the washers (11) and the bolts (12). TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
.
(50) Do the dimensional check of the proximity sensors on the side-stay assembly (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-200-001).
(50) Do the detailed dimensional check of the MLG lockstay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-220-003).
(51) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
(52) Lubricate the side-stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

(1) Disengage the cardan pin (31) from the lower side-stay (3): (a) Remove and discard the nut (25).
(b) Remove the washer (26) from the bolt (20).
(c) Remove the bolt (20).
(d) Remove the end caps (21) and (23).
(e) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (22).
(f) Remove the washers (44).
(2) Install the cardan pin (31) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(3) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(4) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(5) Install the nut (30) and tighten it with your hand.
(6) Torque the nut (30) as follows:
(a) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 42 and 38 m.daN (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft )
. (b) Loosen the nut (30).
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
(d) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 17.01 and 15.39 m.daN (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
. (7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:
(a) For in-service components:
- The total clearance must be between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
- The total clearance must be between 0.043 mm (0.0017 in.) and 0.143 mm (0.0056 in.).
1 Remove the nut (30) and the cardan pin (31).
2 Measure dimensions T and V:
- Dimension T must be between 137.917 mm (5.4298 in.) and 137.957 mm (5.4314 in.)
- Dimension V must be between 169.95 mm (6.6909 in.) and 170.05 mm (6.6949 in.).
(d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) are in limit:
1 Remove the nut (30) and the cardan pin (31).
(8) Install the new AIPC 32-11-05-06-145 SEAL (54) in the bush (53).
(9) Lift the side-stay assembly (3) in position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side-stay bracket.
(10) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(11) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(12) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5). Tighten the nut (5) with your hand.
(13) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
(14) Install the cardan pin (31) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(15) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(16) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (31).
(17) Install the nut (30) and tighten with your hand.
(18) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (44) in position between the lugs of the lower side-stay assembly (3).
(19) Install the pin (22).
(20) Install the end caps (23) and (21).
(21) Install the bolt (20), the washer (26) and the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-280 NUT (25).
(22) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 3.0 and 2.5 m.daN (22.12 and 18.44 lbf.ft )
. (23) Safety the bolt (20) and the nut (25) with the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-270 COTTER PIN (24).
(24) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to the head of the bolt (20) and the nut (25).
(25) Release the lockstay from the side-stay and extend the lockstay actuator to hold the lockstay in the open position.
(26) Align the lockstay eye-end (17) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
(27) Install the washer (18), the pin (19), the washer (16) and the nut (14).
(28) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 4.2 and 3.6 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )
. Tighten the nut (14), not more than 4.2 m.daN (30.97 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole. (29) Safety the nut (14) with the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-150 COTTER PIN (15).
(30) Disconnect the cables from the hook.
(31) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013004 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY.
(32) Torque the nut (5) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position. This will make sure that the cardan pin (1) is installed fully in the side-stay bracket.
(b) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 42 and 38 m.daN (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft )
. (c) Loosen the nut (5).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 17.01 and 15.39 m.daN (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
. (33) Torque the nut (30) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position. This will make sure that the cardan pin (31) is installed fully in the MLG leg assembly.
(b) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 42 and 38 m.daN (309.73 and 280.24 lbf.ft )
. (c) Loosen the nut (30).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460007272 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (30) to between 17.01 and 15.39 m.daN (125.44 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
. (34) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions W and X as follows:
(a) For in-service components:
- The total clearance must be between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
- The total clearance must be between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
- The cardan pin (1), the lock washer (6) and the nut (5).
(37) Align the key slot of the lock washer (6) with the chamfered slot on the nut (5). If necessary, use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 36.00 and 15.39 m.daN (265.49 and 113.50 lbf.ft )
. (38) Install the lock washer (6).
(39) Make sure that the space between the lock washer (6) and the nut (5) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(40) Align the circlip (7) with the key slot of the lock washer (6) and the chamfered slot of the nut (5).
(41) Install the circlip (7) (in a counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (7) engages in the key slot of the lock washer (6).
(42) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the mating surfaces of:
- The cardan pin (31), the lock washer (29) and the nut (30).
(44) Align the key slot of the lock washer (29) with the chamfered slot on the nut (30) and install the lock washer (29). Make sure that the space between the lockwasher (29) and the nut (30) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(45) Install the washers (28) and the bolts (27).
(46) TORQUE the bolts (27) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in )
. (47) Safety the bolts (27) with the
(48) Connect the locksprings at the top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-400-003).
(49) Connect the hydraulic hoses (37) and (38) as follows:
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
(a) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the hoses (37) and (38) and the hose unions (32) and (43). (b) Install the washers (35) and (40) on the hoses (37) and (38).
(c) Put the hoses (37) and (38) on the bracket assembly.
(d) Install the washers (34) and (41) and the nuts (33) and (42) on the hoses (37) and (38).
(e) TORQUE the nut (42) to between 1.7 and 1.4 m.daN (12.54 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
. (f) Safety the nuts (39) and (42) with
(g) TORQUE the nut (33) to between 1.2 and 1.0 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
. (h) Safety the nuts (36) and (33) with
(i) Connect the hose unions (32) and (43) to the hoses (37) and (38).
(j) TORQUE the hose union (43) to between 2.8 and 2.4 m.daN (20.65 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
. (k) TORQUE the hose union (32) to between 1.6 and 1.5 m.daN (11.80 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
. (l) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors of the cable (8) and the proximity sensor (2). Connect the cable (8) to the proximity sensor (2).
(m) Attach the clips (10) to the cable (8).
(n) Put the bracket (9) in position on the lockstay and install the washers (11) and the bolts (12). TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
. (50) Do the dimensional check of the proximity sensors on the side-stay assembly (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-200-001).
(50) Do the detailed dimensional check of the MLG lockstay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-220-003).
(51) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
- The ends of the cardan pins (1) and (31)
- The ends of the pin (19)
- The heads of the bolts (12) and (27)
- The nuts (5), (14) and (30)
- The washers (4), (11), (16), (18) and (28)
- The locking washer (6).
(52) Lubricate the side-stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).
C. Installation of the MLG Side-Stay Assembly
(a) Hold the end cap (24) with the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING and remove the bolt (20) and the tab washer (21).
(b) Remove the end caps (22) and (24).
(c) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (23).
(d) Remove the washers (42).
(2) Install the cardan pin (29) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(3) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(4) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(5) Install the washer (28) and the nut (27). Tighten the nut (27) with your hand.
(6) Torque the nut (27) as follows:
(a) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 27.1 and 24.4 m.daN (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft )
.
(b) Loosen the nut (27).
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
(d) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )
.
(7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:
(a) For the in-service components:
1 Remove the nut (27), the washer (28) and the cardan pin (29).
2 Measure dimensions T and V:
CMM 321225 and/or the lower cardan sub-assembly CMM 321126 , as necessary.
(d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) is in the limit:
1 Remove the nut (27), the washer (28) and the cardan pin (29).
(8) Install the new AIPC 32-11-05-02-140 SEAL (54) in the bush (53).
(9) Lift the side-stay assembly (3) into position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side-stay bracket.
(10) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(11) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(12) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5). Tighten the nut (5) with your hand.
(13) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(14) Install the cardan pin (29) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(15) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(16) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(17) Install the washer (28) and the nut (27). Tighten the nut (27) with your hand.
(18) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (42) in position between the lugs of the lower side-stay assembly (3).
(19) Install the pin (23).
(20) Put the end caps (22) and (24) in position. Make sure that the lugs of the pin (23) engage in the cut-outs of the end caps (22) and (24).
(21) Put the tab washer (21) on the bolt (20) and install the bolt (20).
(22) Use the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING to hold the end cap (24) and TORQUE the bolt (20) to between 1.15 and 0.95 m.daN (101.77 and 84.07 lbf.in )
.
(23) Make sure that the assembled joint is free to move through its range.
(24) Lock the tab washer (21).
(25) Release the lockstay from the side-stay and extend the lockstay actuator to hold the lockstay in the open position.
(26) Align the lockstay eye-end (17) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
(27) Install the washer (18), the pin (19), the washer (16) and the nut (14).
(28) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 4.2 and 3.6 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )
. Tighten the nut (14), not more than 4.2 m.daN (30.97 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
(29) Safety the nut (14) with the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-150 COTTER PIN (15).
(30) Disconnect the cables from the hook.
(31) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(32) Torque the nut (5) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position.

(c) Loosen the nut (5).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )

(33) Torque the nut (27) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position.

(c) Loosen the nut (27).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )

(34) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions W and X as follows:
(a) For the in-service components:
(38) Install the lock washer (6). Make sure that the space between the lock washer (6) and the nut (5) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(39) Align the circlip (7) with the key slot of the lock washer (6) and the chamfered slot of the nut (5).
(40) Install the circlip (7) (in a counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (7) engages in the key slot of the lock washer (6).
(41) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the mating surfaces of:
(44) Align the circlip (25) with the key slot of the lock washer (26) and the chamfered slot of the nut (27).
(45) Install the circlip (25) (in a counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (25) engages in the key slot of the lock washer (26).
(46) Connect the locksprings at the top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-400-003).
(47) Connect the hydraulic hoses (35) and (36) as follows:
(b) Install the washers (33) and (38) on the hoses (35) and (36).
(c) Put the hoses (35) and (36) on the bracket assembly. Install the washers (32) and (39) and the nuts (31) and (40) on the hoses (35) and (36).
(d) TORQUE the nut (40) to between 1.7 and 1.4 m.daN (12.54 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
.
(e) Safety the nuts (37) and (40) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(f) TORQUE the nut (31) to between 1.2 and 1.0 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
.
(g) Safety the nuts (34) and (31) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(h) Connect the hose unions (30) and (41) to the hoses (35) and (36).
(i) TORQUE the hose union (41) to between 2.8 and 2.4 m.daN (20.65 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
.
(j) TORQUE the hose union (30) to between 1.6 and 1.5 m.daN (11.80 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
.
(k) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors of the cable (8) and the proximity sensor (2).
(l) Connect the cable (8) to the proximity sensor (2).
(m) Attach the clips (10) to the cable (8).
(n) Put the bracket (9) in position on the lockstay and install the washers (11) and the bolts (12).
(o) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )

(48) Do the dimensional check of the proximity sensors on the side-stay assembly (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-200-001).
(49) Do the detailed dimensional check of the MLG lockstay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-220-003).
(50) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
(50) Lubricate the side-stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).

(5) Install the washer (28) and the nut (27). Tighten the nut (27) with your hand.
(6) Torque the nut (27) as follows:
(a) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 27.1 and 24.4 m.daN (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft )
. (b) Loosen the nut (27).
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
(d) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )
. (7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:

(9) Lift the side-stay assembly (3) into position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side-stay bracket.
(10) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(11) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(12) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5). Tighten the nut (5) with your hand.
(13) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(14) Install the cardan pin (29) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(15) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(16) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(17) Install the washer (28) and the nut (27). Tighten the nut (27) with your hand.
(18) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (42) in position between the lugs of the lower side-stay assembly (3).
(19) Install the pin (23).
(20) Put the end caps (22) and (24) in position. Make sure that the lugs of the pin (23) engage in the cut-outs of the end caps (22) and (24).
(21) Put the tab washer (21) on the bolt (20) and install the bolt (20).
(22) Use the 460006442 SPANNER - HOLDING to hold the end cap (24) and TORQUE the bolt (20) to between 1.15 and 0.95 m.daN (101.77 and 84.07 lbf.in )
. (23) Make sure that the assembled joint is free to move through its range.
(24) Lock the tab washer (21).
(25) Release the lockstay from the side-stay and extend the lockstay actuator to hold the lockstay in the open position.
(26) Align the lockstay eye-end (17) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
(27) Install the washer (18), the pin (19), the washer (16) and the nut (14).
(28) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 4.2 and 3.6 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )

(31) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(32) Torque the nut (5) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position.
NOTE: This will make sure that the cardan pin (1) is installed fully in the side-stay bracket.
(b) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 27.1 and 24.4 m.daN (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft )
. (c) Loosen the nut (5).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460005812 SPANNER - TUBE or the 460007271 SPANNER-TUBE and TORQUE the nut (5) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )
. (33) Torque the nut (27) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position.
NOTE: This will make sure that the cardan pin (29) is installed fully in the MLG leg assembly.
(b) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 27.1 and 24.4 m.daN (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft )
. (c) Loosen the nut (27).
(d) Do steps (a), (b) and (c) two more times.
(e) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )
. (34) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions W and X as follows:
(a) For the in-service components:
- Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.).
- Make sure that the total clearance is between 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) and 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
- The cardan pin (1), the lock washer (6) and the nut (5).
- The cardan pin (1), the lock washer (6) and the nut (5).
(38) Install the lock washer (6). Make sure that the space between the lock washer (6) and the nut (5) is full of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(39) Align the circlip (7) with the key slot of the lock washer (6) and the chamfered slot of the nut (5).
(40) Install the circlip (7) (in a counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (7) engages in the key slot of the lock washer (6).
(41) Use Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the mating surfaces of:
- The cardan pin (29), the lock washer (26) and the nut (27).
- The cardan pin (29), the lock washer (26) and the nut (27).
(44) Align the circlip (25) with the key slot of the lock washer (26) and the chamfered slot of the nut (27).
(45) Install the circlip (25) (in a counterclockwise direction) until the end of the circlip (25) engages in the key slot of the lock washer (26).
(46) Connect the locksprings at the top attachment (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-400-003).
(47) Connect the hydraulic hoses (35) and (36) as follows:

(c) Put the hoses (35) and (36) on the bracket assembly. Install the washers (32) and (39) and the nuts (31) and (40) on the hoses (35) and (36).
(d) TORQUE the nut (40) to between 1.7 and 1.4 m.daN (12.54 and 10.32 lbf.ft )
. (e) Safety the nuts (37) and (40) with
(f) TORQUE the nut (31) to between 1.2 and 1.0 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
. (g) Safety the nuts (34) and (31) with
(h) Connect the hose unions (30) and (41) to the hoses (35) and (36).
(i) TORQUE the hose union (41) to between 2.8 and 2.4 m.daN (20.65 and 17.70 lbf.ft )
. (j) TORQUE the hose union (30) to between 1.6 and 1.5 m.daN (11.80 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
. (k) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors of the cable (8) and the proximity sensor (2).
(l) Connect the cable (8) to the proximity sensor (2).
(m) Attach the clips (10) to the cable (8).
(n) Put the bracket (9) in position on the lockstay and install the washers (11) and the bolts (12).
(o) TORQUE the bolts (12) to between 0.45 and 0.4 m.daN (39.82 and 35.40 lbf.in )
. (48) Do the dimensional check of the proximity sensors on the side-stay assembly (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-200-001).
(49) Do the detailed dimensional check of the MLG lockstay assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-220-003).
(50) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to:
- The ends of the cardan pins (1) and (29)
- The ends of the pin (19)
- The heads of the bolts (12)
- The nuts (5), (14) and (27)
- The washers (4), (11), (16), (18) and (28)
- The lock washers (6) and (26).
(50) Lubricate the side-stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).
C. Installation of the MLG Side-Stay Assembly
(a) Remove and discard the nut (44).
(b) Remove the washer (43) from the bolt (20).
(c) Remove the bolt (20).
(d) Remove the end caps (22) and (24).
(e) Use the 460006440 EXTRACTOR to remove the pin (23).
(f) Remove the washers (42).
(2) Install the cardan pin (29) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(3) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(4) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(5) Install the washer (28) and the nut (27). Tighten the nut (27) with your hand.
(6) Torque the nut (27) as follows:
(a) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 27.1 and 24.4 m.daN (199.85 and 179.94 lbf.ft )

(b) Loosen the nut (27).
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) two more times.
(d) Use the 460005834 TUBE SPANNER and TORQUE the nut (27) to between 20.3 and 16.2 m.daN (149.71 and 119.47 lbf.ft )

(7) Use the GAGE - FEELER to measure dimensions Y and Z as follows:
(a) For the in-service components:
1 Remove the nut (27), the washer (28) and the cardan pin (29).
2 Measure dimensions T and V:
CMM 321225 and/or the lower cardan sub-assembly CMM 321126 , as necessary.
(d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) is in the limit:
1 Remove the nut (27), the washer (28) and the cardan pin (29).
(8) Install the new AIPC 32-11-05-02-140 SEAL (54) in the bush (53).
(9) Lift the side-stay assembly (3) into position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side-stay bracket.
(10) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(11) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(12) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5). Tighten the nut (5) with your hand.
(13) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(14) Install the cardan pin (29) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(15) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(16) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (29).
(17) Install the washer (28) and the nut (27). Tighten the nut (27) with your hand.
(18) Put the lower cardan sub-assembly and the washers (42) in position between the lugs of the lower side-stay assembly (3).
(19) Install the pin (23) as follows:
(a) Install the pin (23).
(b) Install the end caps (22) and (24). Make sure that the lugs of the pin (23) engage in the cut-outs of the end caps (22) and (24).
(c) Install the bolt (20), the washer (43) and the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-280 NUT (44).
(d) TORQUE the bolt (20) to between 3.0 and 2.5 m.daN (22.12 and 18.44 lbf.ft )

(e) Safety the bolt (20) and the nut (44) with the new AIPC 32-11-18-02-270 COTTER PIN (45).
(f) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay Landing Gear (Material No.06AAC5) to:
(21) Align the lockstay eye-end (17) with the cardan joint and install the spacers (13).
(22) Install the washer (18), the pin (19), the washer (16) and the nut (14).
(23) TORQUE the nut (14) to between 4.2 and 3.6 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.ft )
. Tighten the nut (14), not more than 4.2 m.daN (30.97 lbf.ft) to align the cotter pin hole.
(24) Safety the nut (14) with the new AIPC 32-11-17-01-150 COTTER PIN (15).
(25) Disconnect the cables from the hook.
(26) Disconnect the strap and remove the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(27) Torque the nut (5) as follows:
(a) Push the MLG as far as possible to the closed position.

2 Measure dimensions T and V:

- Make sure that dimension V is between 138.0 mm (5.4331 in.) and 138.06 mm (5.4354 in.).
(d) If the total clearance measured in steps (a) and (b) is in the limit:
1 Remove the nut (27), the washer (28) and the cardan pin (29).
(8) Install the new AIPC 32-11-05-02-140 SEAL (54) in the bush (53).
(9) Lift the side-stay assembly (3) into position with the hoist and install the cardan pin (1) in the side-stay bracket.
(10) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(11) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the cardan pin (1).
(12) Install the washer (4) and the nut (5). Tighten the nut (5) with your hand.
(13) Loosen the strap (but not fully) on the 98D32104013001 SPLINT ASSEMBLY - SIDE STAY (A).
(14) Install the cardan pin (29) in the MLG attachment lugs.
(15) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the threads of the cardan pin (29).

(19) Install the pin (23) as follows:

(b) Install the end caps (22) and (24). Make sure that the lugs of the pin (23) engage in the cut-outs of the end caps (22) and (24).

(46) Lubricate the side-stay assembly (3) through the greasers (Ref. AMM TASK 12-22-32-640-001).
D. Close Access
(a) Put the cover plates (65) and (66) in position on the wing.
(b) Install the bridge plates (67) and (68) and the nuts (69) and (70).
(c) Torque the nuts (69) and (70) as follows:
1 TORQUE the nuts (69) and (70) to between 5 and 3 m.N (44.25 and 26.55 lbf.in )

2 If necessary, loosen the nuts (69) and (70) until you can align the holes for the cotter pins (71) and (72).
3 To make sure that the nuts (69) and (70) are sufficiently tight:
a Use the 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) GAGE - FEELER and make sure that it does not go in the space between:
(e) Safety the nut (70) with the new AIPC 57-51-05-67-010 COTTER PIN (72) or AIPC 57-51-85-67-010 COTTER PIN (72).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 32-11-16-865-054-A WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(1) Install the cover plates (65) and (66) as follows:(a) Put the cover plates (65) and (66) in position on the wing.
(b) Install the bridge plates (67) and (68) and the nuts (69) and (70).
(c) Torque the nuts (69) and (70) as follows:
1 TORQUE the nuts (69) and (70) to between 5 and 3 m.N (44.25 and 26.55 lbf.in )
.2 If necessary, loosen the nuts (69) and (70) until you can align the holes for the cotter pins (71) and (72).

(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
E. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

F. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) If you did not de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits, put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).
(2) Connect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
(3) Pressurize the applicable hydraulic reservoirs (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
Subtask 32-11-16-720-050-A (1) If you did not de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits, put the aircraft back to the ground configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-002).
