TASK 30-21-49-790-802-A
Leak Test of the Nacelle Anti-Ice Supply-Ducts and Hoses with the Engine in Operation

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
ZONE: 410
1. Reason for the Job
This task gives the leak test procedure of the anti-ice supply ducts of the inlet cowl.
The purpose of this test is to find the leaks around:
  • The anti-ice supply-duct couplings of the inlet cowl
  • The coupling nuts of the hoses.
The engines must be in operation for this procedure.

A. Prepare for the Leak Test
   (1) Use one of these two materials to find the location of an air leak on a pneumatic joint:
     (a) Apply dry developer (Material No.CP3010) around the pneumatic joints around the pneumatic joints.
1 Apply dry developer only on the connections of the removed pneumatic components. Do not apply dry developer on all the pneumatic components.
     (b) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - Sound damping - (Material No.05RAC1) around the pneumatic joints.
1 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
2 Twist the seam of the foil wrap tight.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the tube but do not cause damage to the wrap.
4 Attach the foil wrap with CP8004lockwire 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) dia at the two sides of the pneumatic joint.
