Installation of the Engine 2 Pump Suction Quick-Disconnect Half-Coupling

WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the slats are in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (3) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
Subtask 29-13-39-941-065-A
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
     (a) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend is off).
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the APU BLEED pushbutton switch.
   (2) In the cockpit, on the HYD section of panel 40VU:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (3) On access door 198CB:
     (a) On the ground service panel, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (4) On access door 196BB:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
   (5) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell person s not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (6) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:

CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
A. Installation of the Engine 2 Pump Suction Quick-Disconnect Half-Coupling
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
   (4) Make sure that the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) is in position below the hydraulic connections.
   (5) Remove the COVER - BLANKING from the port of the fluid disconnect panel (2) and the suction hose (3). Hold the suction hose (3).
NOTE: This prevents a flow of hydraulic fluid.
   (6) Install the half coupling (1) on the section hose (3).
   (7) TORQUE the half coupling nut to between 25.76 and 21.47 m.daN (189.97 and 158.33 lbf.ft ) T.
   (8) Connect the half coupling (1) to the fluid disconnect panel (2).
   (9) Tighten the half coupling (1).
