4. Procedure
Subtask 23-73-46-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the DEU-A
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (2), (3) and (4).
   (4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (5) Carefully install the DEU A (1) into the mounting bracket (6). Make sure that the DEU A (1) is correctly aligned to prevent damage to the electrical connector (4).
   (6) Connect the electrical connectors (2) and (3) to the DEU A (1) and safety with the locking springs (7).
Subtask 23-73-46-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Decoder/Encoder Unit (DEU) A
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Put the DEU A (6) in the correct position.
   (4) Tighten the nylatches (5).
   (5) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (6) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (7) Connect the electrical connectors (2) to the DEU A (6).
   (8) Safety the electrical connectors (2).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SPRING LATCHES CORRECTLY HOLD THE CONNECTOR IN THE FULLY ENGAGED POSITION. THE SPRING LATCHES PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE CONNECTOR, AND THUS THE RISK OF ARCING, WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.
     (a) Safety the electrical connectors (2) with the spring latches (1).
   (9) Make sure that the coding switches are in the positions recorded during the removal procedure.
   (10) Install the connection/termination box (4) and tighten the nylatches (3).
