A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
F Remote Modem Unit ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that STEPLADDER 1.0 M (3.3 FT) is in position below the left Overhead Stowage Compartment (OHSC) between frames FR20 and FR21.
   (3) Make sure that the access doors to the overhead stowage compartment and the VCC (1) are open.
   (4) Make sure that the closeout panel (2) of the VCC (1) is removed.
   (5) Make sure that the Seat Power Box/Unit / Overhead Distribution Box (36MH) is removed, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 23-36-23-000-802).

4. Procedure
Subtask 23-36-31-420-052-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Remote Modem Unit (RMU)
F Remote Modem Unit ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
   (5) Carefully put the RMU (8) in its installation position in the RMU mounting bracket (15) and engage the fasteners (9).
   (6) Installation of the bonding strap (12):
     (a) Install the bonding strap (12) on the RMU grounding stud (16) with the nut (13).
     (b) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 0.30 and 0.23 m.daN (26.55 and 20.35 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (7) Connect the electrical connector (11):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (11) to the receptacle (14).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SPRING LATCHES CORRECTLY HOLD THE CONNECTOR IN THE FULLY ENGAGED POSITION. THE SPRING LATCHES PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE CONNECTOR, AND THUS THE RISK OF ARCING, WHICH CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT.
     (d) Safety the electrical connector (11) with the spring latches (10).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Energize the Cabin Intercommunication Data-System (CIDS) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-00-861-001).

   (1) Do the operational test of the integrated In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system (Ref. AMM TASK 23-33-00-710-005).

F Remote Modem Unit ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the Seat Power Box/Unit / Overhead Distribution Box (36MH), if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 23-36-23-400-802).
   (2) Install the closeout panel (2):
     (a) Install the screw (7), bonding strap (4), washers (5) and nut (6).
     (b) Tighten the nut (6).
     (c) Do the electrical bonding of the grounding point (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (d) Put the closeout panel (2) in its installation position on the VCC (1) and engage the fasteners (3).
   (3) Close the applicable doors of the overhead stowage compartment and the VCC (1).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (5) Remove the stepladder.

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
