A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below access door 811.
   (2) Open access door 811.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at access door 312AR.
   (4) Open access door 312AR.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) On the overhead panel, on the APU section of panel 25VU, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the MASTER SW and START pushbutton switches to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (3) On the center pedestal:
     (a) Make sure that the pitch-trim control wheels are set to 0°.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the pitch-trim control wheels.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Remove the protective covers (2) and (5):

     (a) Remove the screws (4) and the washers (3).
     (b) Release the fasteners (1) and remove the protective covers (2) and (5).
   (2) On the left side of the center pedestal, remove the equipment that follow:
     (a) Remove Multipurpose Control & Display Unit (MCDU) [3CA1] (Ref. AMM TASK 22-82-12-000-001).
     (b) Remove Radio Management Panel (RMP) [1RG1] (Ref. AMM TASK 23-13-13-000-001).
     (c) Remove Audio Control Panel (ACP) [2RN1] (Ref. AMM TASK 23-51-12-000-001).
     (d) Remove Weather Radar (WXR) control unit [3SQ] (Ref. AMM TASK 34-41-12-000-001).
     (e) Remove panel [111VU] :

       1 Release the fasteners of the panel (21) and disengage the panel (21) from its housing.
       2 Disconnect the electrical connector (23) from the electrical receptacle (22).
       3 Remove the panel (21).
       4 Put the CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connector (23) and the electrical receptacle (22).
     (f) Remove the lateral panel (43):

       1 Remove the screws (42) and the washers (41).
       2 Remove the lateral panel (43).
4. Procedure
Subtask 12-22-27-640-068-A
A. Lubrication of the THS Mechanical Control-Chain in the Center Pedestal
   (1) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (2) Turn the pitch-trim control wheels from stop end +4° to stop end -13.5° and do the subsequent steps:
     (a) Clean the forward chain (6) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED.
     (b) Use an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED to apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the forward chains (6).

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).

B. Lubrication of the THS Mechanical Control-Chains below the Center Pedestal
   (1) Turn the pitch-trim control wheels to stop end +4°.
   (2) Install the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING on the pitch-trim control wheels.
   (3) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001).
   (4) On an area of approximately 600 mm (23.6221 in.) and around the sprocket:
     (a) Clean the forward chains (6) and (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED.
     (b) Use an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED to apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the forward chains (6) and (7).

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
NOTE: It is recommended that the same person does these actions:
  • Clean and lubricate the forward chains (6) and (7).
  • Turn the pitch-trim control wheels during the cleaning and lubrication of the forward chains (6) and (7) below the center pedestal.
   (5) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
   (6) Remove the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING from the pitch-trim control wheels.
   (7) Turn the pitch-trim control wheels to -5°.
   (8) Install the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING on the pitch-trim control wheels.
   (9) On the remaining part:
     (a) Clean the forward chains (6) and (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED.
     (b) Use an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED to apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the forward chains (6) and (7).

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
NOTE: It is recommended that the same person does these actions:
  • Clean and lubricate the forward chains (6) and (7).
  • Turn the pitch-trim control wheels during the cleaning and lubrication of the forward chains (6) and (7) below the center pedestal.
   (10) On the center pedestal:
     (a) Remove the 98D27403500000 PITCH TRIM CONTROL LOCKING from the pitch-trim control wheels.
     (b) Turn the pitch-trim control wheels to 0°.

C. Lubrication of the THS Mechanical Control Chain at Zone 310
   (1) Clean the aft chain (8) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED.
   (2) Use an applicable BRUSH - BRISTLED to apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the aft chain (8).

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).

D. Lubrication of the THS Rear Cable (Area of Tension Regulator)
   (1) Clean the control cables (9) and (10) in this area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) . Make sure that all the grease is removed.
   (2) Make sure that there is no damage or corrosion on the control cables (9) and (10) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-24-12-200-001).
   (3) Use a GUN - SPRAY or a BRUSH - BRISTLED to apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-- Soft Film System (Material No.12AGC2) on the cables (9) and (10) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-24-11-100-001).
   (4) Lubricate the control cables (9) and (10) with Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) .

NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00).
5. Close-up
Subtask 12-22-27-420-050-A
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Install the protective covers (2) and (5):

     (a) Install the protective covers (2) and (5).
     (b) Tighten the fasteners (1).
     (c) Install the washers (3) and the screws (4).
   (2) On the left side of the center pedestal, install the equipment that follow:
     (a) Install MCDU [3CA1] (Ref. AMM TASK 22-82-12-400-002).
     (b) Install RMP [1RG1] (Ref. AMM TASK 23-13-13-400-001).
     (c) Install ACP [2RN1] (Ref. AMM TASK 23-51-12-400-001).
     (d) Install WXR control unit [3SQ] (Ref. AMM TASK 34-41-12-400-001).
     (e) Install panel [111VU] :

       1 Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connector (23) and the electrical receptacle (22).
       2 Connect the electrical connector (23) to the electrical receptacle (22).
       3 Install the panel (21).
       4 Fully tighten the fasteners of the panel (21).
     (f) Install the lateral panel (43):

       1 Install the lateral panel (43).
       2 Install the screws (42) and the washers (41).
       3 Tighten the screws (42).
