D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
Subtask 78-37-02-864-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). E. Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(1) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
(a) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(b) Make sure that the Green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001) is depressurized.
(2) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
(a) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(b) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001) is depressurized.
4. Procedure(1) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
(a) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(b) Make sure that the Green hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001) is depressurized.
(2) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
(a) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(b) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001) is depressurized.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-37-02-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Thrust-Reverser Actuation System (TRAS) Track Lock Valve (1)
(b) Clean the surface of the TRAS track lock valve (1) where the grounding strap lug attaches to with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or equivalent.
(c) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with a dry, clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent becomes dry.
(d) Clean the bolt (4), washers (2) and (3) and grounding strap lug with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) or equivalent.
(e) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with a dry, clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent becomes dry.
(2) Attach the TRAS track lock valve (1) to the torque box with the two bolts (6) and two washers (5).
(3) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
.
(4) Attach the TRAS track lock valve (1) and grounding strap lug to the torque box with the bolt (4) and washers (2) and (3).
(5) TORQUE the bolt (4) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
.
(6) Make sure that the resistance between the TRAS track lock valve (1) and the grounding strap lug is 0.0100 ohms or less.
(7) If the resistance is too high, remove the bolt (4), washers (2) and (3) and grounding strap lug and do step 4.(A)(1) and steps 4.A.(4) thru 4.(A)(6) again.
(8) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the supply tube, control tube, return tube and TRAS track lock valve (1).
(9) Apply a thin layer of lubricant (Material No.PU6-0003) or equivalent to the threads of the supply tube, control tube and return tube fittings.
(10) Connect the control tube to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(11) TORQUE the control tube fitting to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(12) Connect the return tube to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(13) TORQUE the return tube fitting to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
.
(14) Connect the supply tube to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(15) TORQUE the supply tube fitting to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
.
(b) Connect the TRAS track lock harness to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(c) Align the keyway on the connector.
(d) Tighten the connector with your fingers.
(e) Then tighten the connector 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is for the TRAS track lock valve on the left thrust reverser door. The procedure for the TRAS track lock valve on the right thrust reverser door is opposite.
(1) Cleaning of the surface WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Clean the TRAS track lock valve (1), bolt (4), washers (2) and (3) and grounding strap lug. (b) Clean the surface of the TRAS track lock valve (1) where the grounding strap lug attaches to with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or equivalent.
(c) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with a dry, clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent becomes dry.
(d) Clean the bolt (4), washers (2) and (3) and grounding strap lug with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) or equivalent.
(e) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with a dry, clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent becomes dry.
(2) Attach the TRAS track lock valve (1) to the torque box with the two bolts (6) and two washers (5).
(3) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
. (4) Attach the TRAS track lock valve (1) and grounding strap lug to the torque box with the bolt (4) and washers (2) and (3).
(5) TORQUE the bolt (4) to between 90 and 81 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.92 m.daN )
. (6) Make sure that the resistance between the TRAS track lock valve (1) and the grounding strap lug is 0.0100 ohms or less.
(7) If the resistance is too high, remove the bolt (4), washers (2) and (3) and grounding strap lug and do step 4.(A)(1) and steps 4.A.(4) thru 4.(A)(6) again.

(10) Connect the control tube to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(11) TORQUE the control tube fitting to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (12) Connect the return tube to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(13) TORQUE the return tube fitting to between 190 and 170 lbf.in (2.15 and 1.92 m.daN )
. (14) Connect the supply tube to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(15) TORQUE the supply tube fitting to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
. CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR IS CLEAN BEFORE YOU CONNECT IT. DIRTY ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE THRUST REVERSER PROBLEMS.
CAUTION:
USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO CONNECT ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS COULD OCCUR.
(16) Connection of the electrical connector NOTE: The Functional Item Number (FIN) is 4141KS-A for the left TRAS track lock harness and 4142KS-A for the right TRAS track lock harness.
(a) Remove the CAP - PROTECTION from the TRAS track lock harness and TRAS track lock valve (1). (b) Connect the TRAS track lock harness to the TRAS track lock valve (1).
(c) Align the keyway on the connector.
(d) Tighten the connector with your fingers.
(e) Then tighten the connector 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.

D. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802).

E. Tests
(1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system with the MCDU (bleeding) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
(2) Make sure that there are no leaks at the tube connections.
