YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-105-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. GVI of the Left Thrust Reverser Thermal Insulation Blankets
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure that there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(2) Examine the insulation thermal blankets on the inner fixed structure for loose or missing retainers. If you find loose or missing retainers, tighten or replace them.
(3) Examine the thermal insulation blankets for burns, bulges, heat discoloration, tears or other damage. If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures, or contact UTAS for disposition.
(4) Examine the metallic surface of the thermal insulation blankets for holes.
(a) If you find holes 0.06 in. (1.52 mm) x 0.25 in. (6.35 mm) or smaller, repair the thermal insulation blanket (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-300-802).
(b) If you find holes larger than 0.06 in. (1.52 mm) x 0.25 in. (6.35 mm), refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(5) Make sure that the top edge of the upper bifurcation bumper blanket is under the retainer for the top seal.
(a) Make sure that the other edges are on top of the upper bifurcation bumper seal.
(6) Make sure that the top and forward edges of the upper forward barrel blanket are under the retainers for the top and forward seals.
(a) Make sure that the aft edge is on top of the upper aft barrel blanket.
(b) Make sure that the lower edge is on top of the lower forward barrel blanket.
(7) Make sure that the top edge of the upper aft barrel blanket is under the retainer for the top seal.
(a) Make sure that the lower edge is on top of the lower aft barrel blanket and the lower forward barrel blanket.
(8) Make sure that the aft edge of the aft latch beam blanket is under the retainer for the aft seal.
(a) Make sure that the top edge is on top of the lower forward barrel blanket.
(b) Make sure that the forward edge is on top of the forward latch beam blanket.
(9) Make sure that the forward edge of the lower forward barrel blanket is under the retainer for the forward seal.
(a) Make sure that the lower edge is on top of the forward latch beam blanket.
(b) Make sure that the aft edge is on top of the lower aft barrel blanket.
(10) Make sure that the forward edge of the forward latch beam blanket is under the retainer for the forward seal.
(11) Make sure that the bottom edge of the lower aft barrel blanket is under the blanket retainer.
(12) Make sure that all the other edges of the blankets are between 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) and 0.15 in. (3.81 mm) from the adjacent structures on the inner fixed structure.
(13) If an edge of a blanket is not correctly installed, adjust the blanket with your hand.
(a) If necessary, remove and install the blanket (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-803).
(14) Examine the edge of the heat blanket adjacent to the forward edge of the Air Cooled Oil Cooler (ACOC) exhaust duct.
(a) Make sure that it is flush with the surface of the ACOC exhaust duct.
(b) If the blanket is not flush with the surface of the ACOC exhaust duct, adjust the blanket with your hand.

(a) If necessary, remove and install the blanket (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-400-803).

(3) Examine the thermal insulation blankets for burns, bulges, heat discoloration, tears or other damage. If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact UTAS for disposition.
(4) Examine the metallic surface of the thermal insulation blankets for holes.
(a) If you find holes 0.06 in. (1.52 mm) x 0.25 in. (6.35 mm) or smaller, repair the thermal insulation blanket (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-300-802).

(b) Make sure that the lower edge is on top of the lower forward barrel blanket.
(7) Make sure that the top edge of the upper aft barrel blanket is under the retainer for the top seal and the stiffener.
(a) Make sure that the lower edge is on top of the lower aft barrel blanket and the lower forward barrel blanket.
(8) Make sure that the aft edge of the aft latch beam blanket is under the support.
(a) Make sure that the top and forward edges are on top of the lower forward barrel blanket.
(b) Make sure that the forward edge is on top of the forward latch beam blanket.
(9) Make sure that the forward edge of the lower forward barrel blanket is under the retainers for the forward seals.
(a) Make sure that the lower edge is on top of the forward latch beam blanket.
(b) Make sure that the aft edge is on top of the lower aft barrel blanket.
(10) Make sure that the forward edge of the forward latch beam blanket is under the retainer for the forward seal.
(11) Make sure that the bottom edge of the lower aft barrel blanket is under the blank retainer.
(12) Make sure that all the other edges of the blankets are between 0.00 in. (0.00 mm) and 0.15 in. (3.81 mm) from the adjacent structures on the inner fixed structure.
(13) If an edge of a blanket is not correctly installed, adjust the blanket with your hand.
(a) If necessary, remove and install the blanket (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-71-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-71-400-802).
