4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-00-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair of the Holes in the Metallic Surface of the Thermal Blanket
NOTE: This procedure is for holes that are 0.06 in. (1.524 mm) x 0.25 in. (6.350 mm) or smaller in the metallic surface of the thermal blanket. For holes larger than 0.06 in. (1.524 mm) x 0.25 in. (6.350 mm), refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems for disposition.
   (1) Lightly rub the surfaces and the edges of the repair area with the PU1-0061abrasive paper, aluminum oxide 180 or 240-grit.
   (2) Remove the unwanted material from the surfaces of the repair area with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the solvent with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent dries.
   (3) Clean again the surfaces of the repair area with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the solvent with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent dries.
     (a) Make sure that you apply the sealant within four hours after you cleaned the surface.
   (4) Apply a thin layer of primer (Material No.PU4-0006) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803), to the surface of the thermal blanket. Let the primer (Material No.PU4-0006) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803), dry for a minimum of 30 minutes.
   (5) Mix the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) and catalyst (Material No.PU3-0012) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
   (6) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture on the repair area of the thermal blanket with the GUN - SEALANT or equivalent. Make sure that you fully fill the hole and 0.25 in. (6.35 mm) minimum around the hole. Make sure that the sealant is 0.1 in. (2.54 mm) above the surface of the thermal blanket. See the figure
