3. Job Set-up
Subtask 75-32-05-941-056-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

A. Inspection of the Variable Stator Vane (VSV) Actuator
NOTE: Use of BORESCOPE SET equipment is permitted for detailed inspection of the VSV in the areas with no direct access.
NOTE: Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of any DOD / FOD that would prevent normal operation of the VSV system.

REMARKS
1.Fuel leaks on the actuator body and valve shaft
a) A fuel leak that makes drops of fuel is not permitted.

b) A fuel stain (wetting) on the actuator body or actuator valve shaft is permitted, if you do not find drops of fuel.
Replace the preformed packings on the head fuel and rod fuel fittings on the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-802).
or
Replace the fuel tube.
or
Install and tighten the fuel tube B-nuts.
or
Replace the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)

2.Loose VSV actuator
Bearings with cracks or damage are not permitted.
Tighten the bolts and nuts or Replace the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-802).
3.Cracks and dents on the VSV actuator
Not serviceable.
Replace the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-802).
4.Scores on the piston rod of the VSV actuator
Not serviceable.
Replace the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-802).
5.Bent VSV actuator piston rod
Not serviceable.
Replace the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-802).
6.Leakage or damage to VSV actuator electrical receptacle and the electrical connector
a) Leakage through the electrical connector or signs of wetting around the electrical connector is not permitted.

b) Small damage to the VSV actuator electrical receptacle threads is permitted.
Tighten the electrical connector (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).

Replace the wiring harness.
or
Repair the damage to electrical receptacle threads.
or
Replace the VSV actuator
(Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-05-400-801)
