A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Open the right thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
WARNING: BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP. AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.

A. Removal of the Right VSV Actuator
   (1) Remove segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (2) Remove the variable bleed valve duct 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-000-801).

   (3) Remove the two HJ8B electrical harnesses (1) and the four HJ8A electrical harnesses (3) from the six clips on the electrical harness support bracket (2).
   (4) Disconnect the electrical connector (5) from the right MTC actuator (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).

   (5) Remove the two HJ8B electrical harnesses (1) and the four HJ8A electrical harnesses (3) from the six clips on the electrical harness support bracket (2).
   (6) Remove the electrical connector (5) from the harness receptacle bracket (8) and put the CAP - BLANKING on the plug.

   (7) Disconnect the electrical connector (7) from the right VSV actuator (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (8) Remove the drain tube (13) as follows:
     (a) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the drain tube (13).
     (b) Disconnect the drain tube (13) B-nut from the drain tube (17) and let the fuel drain.
     (c) Disconnect the fuel hydraulic VSV tube hose (11) B-nut from the drain tube (13).

     (d) Disconnect the drain tube (13) B-nut from the fuel hydraulic manifold (9) and remove the drain tube (13) from the engine.
     (e) Remove the bolt (16) that attaches the loop clamp (15) and the drain tube (13) to the bracket (18).
     (f) Hold the drain tube (13) and remove the bolt (20) that attaches the loop clamp (14) and the drain tube (13) to the bracket (19).

     (g) Remove the bolt (16) that attaches the loop clamp (15) and the drain tube (13) to the bracket (18).

     (h) Remove the drain tube (13) from the engine.
   (9) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the right VSV actuator (6).
   (10) Remove the four bolts (12) that attach the fuel hydraulic VSV tube hose (11) to the right VSV actuator (6).
   (11) Remove and discard the gasket seal (10).
   (12) Remove the bolt (28), bushing (27), washer (26) and nut (25) that attach the bell crank assembly (21) and connecting link (22) to the right VSV actuator (6).
   (13) Remove the bolt (29), bushing (30), washer (23) and nut (24) that attach the connecting link (22) to the right VSV actuator (6).
   (14) Remove the bolt (35), bushing (31) and nut (32) that attach the right VSV actuator (6) to the bell crank assembly (21).
   (15) Remove the bolt (33) and the nut (34) that attach the right VSV actuator (6) to the bell crank assembly (21).
   (16) Remove the right VSV actuator (6) from the engine.
   (17) Remove the sleeve (36) from the right VSV actuator (6).
   (18) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and the disconnected connectors.

B. Preservation of the Right VSV Actuator
   (1) In the instance of shipping or prolonged storage, preserve the right VSV actuator per the CMM 753205.
