A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

D. Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. Procedure

A. Do an inspection of the gaskets assemblies (60), (80), (190), (220), (290) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-21-00-918-001).
Subtask 75-21-10-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the HPT Active Clearance Control (HPTACC) Valve:
   (1) Remove all protective plugs from the HPTACC valve (260) and the tubes and bosses.
   (2) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
   (3) Do a visual inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
NOTE: If the new HPTCC valve (260) has a drain port nipple, do not do the step (4).
   (4) Install the nipple (240) into the drain port of the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the new AIPC 75-21-10-01-040 O-RING (250) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070)
     (b) Install the O-ring (250) on the nipple (240).
     (c) Install the nipple (240) into the drain port.
     (d) TORQUE the nipple:
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
       1 TORQUE the nipple (240) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Connect the stage 9 inlet flange of the HPTACC valve (260) to the combustion case boss as follows:

     (a) Lubricate the bolts (270), (280) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (b) Install the new AIPC 75-21-10-01-120 C-SEAL GASKET (290) between the stage 9 inlet flange and the combustion case boss.
     (c) Install the stage 9 inlet flange of the HPTACC valve (260) to the combustion case boss with bolts (270), (280). Do not torque the bolts (270), (280).
   (6) Connect the stage 5 air tube flange (170) to the stage 5 inlet flange of the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:

     (a) Lubricate the bolts (150) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (b) Make sure the space between the gaps in the ring seals (180) is equal to 180 degrees.
     (c) Install the new AIPC 75-21-10-01-170 C-SEAL GASKET (190) between the stage 5 air tube (170) and the stage 5 inlet flange of the HPTACC valve (260).

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (d) Install the bolts (155), washers (165) and nuts (195) to attach the stage 5 air tube (170) to the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (155).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (e) Install the bolts (155) and washers (165) to attach the stage 5 air tube (170) to the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (155).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 75-018

     (f) Install the bolts (155) to attach the stage 5 air tube (170) to the HPTACC valve (260) and support bracket. Do not torque the bolts (155).

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (g) Install the bolts (150), washers (160) and nuts (195) to finish attaching the stage 5 air tube (170) to the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (150).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (h) Install the bolts (150) and washers (160) to finish attaching the stage 5 air tube (170) to the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (150).
   (7) Connect the TCC air manifold (10) to the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the bolts (20, 40) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (b) Install the new AIPC 75-21-10-01-120 C-SEAL (60) between the TCC air manifold (10) and the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260).

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 72-012

     (c) Install the manifold bracket (50) to the TCC air manifold (10) and the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260) with bolts (20). Do not torque the bolts (20).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-012

     (d) Install the manifold bracket (50) to the TCC air manifold (10) and the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260) with bolts (20) and washers (30). Do not torque the bolts (20).

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 72-012

     (e) Install the bolts (40) and the nuts (45) to finish attaching the TCC air manifold (10) to the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (40).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-012

     (f) Install the bolts (40), washers (30) and nuts (45) to finish attaching the TCC air manifold (10) to the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (40).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (g) Install the bolts (40) and washers (30) to finish attaching the TCC air manifold (10) to the TCC flange of the HPTACC valve (260). Do not torque the bolts (40).
   (8) Install the start air tube to the start bleed port of the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the bolts (70) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Install the new AIPC 75-21-10-01-080 GASKET (80) between the start bleed tube (90) and the start bleed port of the HPTACC valve (260).

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (c) Install the air start tube (90) to the start bleed port of the HPTACC valve (260) with bolts (70) and nuts (75). Do not torque the bolts (70).

POST SB (CFM56-5) 72-033

     (d) Install the air start tube (90) to the start bleed port of the HPTACC valve (260) with bolts (70). Do not torque the bolts (70).
   (9) Connect the TCC fuel manifold (200) to the fuel supply flange of the HPTACC valve (260) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate the bolts (210) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Install the new AIPC 75-21-10-01-060 GASKET (220) between the TCC fuel manifold (200) and the fuel supply flange of the HPTACC valve (260).
     (c) Install the TCC fuel manifold (200) to the fuel supply flange of the HPTACC valve (260) with bolts (210). Do not torque the bolts (210).
   (10) Torque the bolts that follow in a criss-cross pattern:
     (a) Triple-torque the bolts (270) and (280) installed on the stage 9 inlet flange as follows:
       1 TORQUE the bolts to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

       2 Break the torque and TORQUE again to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
       3 TORQUE again to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
       4 Install the lockwire.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
         a Attach the bolts (270) and (280) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
     (b) Triple-torque the bolts (150), (155) installed on the stage 5 inlet flange as follows:
       1 TORQUE the bolts to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.
       2 Break the torque and TORQUE again to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.
       3 TORQUE again to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (20), (40) installed on the TCC flange to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.
     (d) TORQUE the bolts (70) installed on the start bleed flange to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.
     (e) TORQUE the bolts (210) installed on the fuel supply flange to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.

PRE SB (CFM56-5) 75-018

   (11) Connect the support link (100) to the HPTCC valve (260) as follows:
     (a) Install and align the support link (100) to the attachment lug of the HPTACC valve (260).
     (b) Cut and remove the lockwire from the nut of the support link (100).
     (c) Adjust the support link (100) by turning it one-half of a turn counterclockwise.
     (d) Install the support link (100) to the attachment lug with the bolt (110) and nut (120).
     (e) TORQUE the bolt (110) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
T.
     (f) TORQUE the nut on the support link (100) to between 125 and 100 lbf.in (1.41 and 1.13 m.daN )
T
     (g) Safety the nut on the support link (100) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.

POST SB (CFM56-5) 75-018

   (12) Step not necessary. There is no support link.
   (13) Connect the drain tube (230) to the drain port nipple of the HPTACC valve (260) and to the drain line.
   (14) TORQUE the coupling nut on the drain tube (230) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
   (15) Install the cap assembly (225) on the drain tube (230) with your hand.
   (16) TORQUE the cap assembly (225) to between 150 and 140 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.58 m.daN )
T.
   (17) Remove the caps from the electrical connectors.
   (18) Connect the electrical connectors, Channel A (140) and Channel B (130) to the HPTACC valve (260). Tighten the connectors with your hand plus one-eight of a turn. If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.

   (2) Do a minimum idle check for leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006). Make sure that on the CFDS no fault is shown related to the HPTACC valve.
